Carbridge for IOS 13 is out!!! Now all apps on your Iphone will be in Carplay- youtube, IPTV......A real reason for jailbreak.

Hi,
I have the following problem with my Carplay2Air adapter with my 2019 Mercedes C Class. The adapter works very fast, but the GPS signal from the car is not used.
When I use the cable connection without the adapter, this works. With the wireless adapter, I do not get a signal, if the iphone is covered.

Someone else has the same problem?
I use firmware from 22nd Jan.
I have an iPhone X with newest iOS.

Michael

I haven't seen any OTA firmware from February yet on mine (2016 Volt) and the recent fimrware I did install seems to have increased overall connectivity and stability but introduced the "crackling after 5 minutes" effect. Pausing and unpausing fixes it temporarily, but does anyone know if a newer firmware fixes this annoying issue?

2018 GMC Sierra. I did the following Modification to my USB that connects to CarPlay I actually had forgot about it because it’s been working good since. So my carplay2air dongle would also power on when the door was opened, locked the doors or put key in The ignition. This caused it not to boot up properly at times because the stereo needed to boot up first.

so what I did was buy this piece from amazon ANDUL USB Switch Extension Cable, Upgraded USB Extension Cord with On/Off Power Switch Cable For LED Strips, IOS System, etc https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T9BRNHW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_XuhmEbBS7F1MA

It turns off the power to the usb when you flip the switch but data still passes through. I took this apart and connected a relay to the power wired from this switch. I then connected the power supply to the relay from the 12v power adapter in my center console. This 12v power only turns on when the ignition is turned on. Doing this lets the stereo boot up and power only turns on the dongle when I turn on the ignition. Works everytime now.
This sounds great.
I got the same USB Switch Extension Cable and have been using it to manually turn on the Carlinkit adapter after my head unit has started up. It's worked pretty well so far -- I haven't had any connection issues since doing this.

I'd love to mimic your setup, if possible. I follow most of what you're saying, but I'm not sure I understand how to connect the power supply to the relay and the relay to the switch. Any additional help would be appreciated (diagrams, photos... anything, LOL).

Thanks for the great idea.

This is how I wired my to my center console 12v connection as I confirmed on my truck it only turned on when the key was turned on. * Switched power**

Note. Don’t do this unless you feel comfortable doing this. I’m not responsible for any damages you might cause if not done properly. This is just to show how I did mine....

Has anyone gotten an OTA update to work? I emailed support and finally received this response :

We have already released a new update. We release updates from time to time.
Please check it online. Make sure that your phone is not connected to other Bluetooth devices (in your home, office) or your home Wifi otherwise it will be impossible to connect to the adapter since your phone uses other networks. Turn on your mobile data.
  1. Connect your phone to the adapter and wait until CarPlay appears on the screen.
  2. Enter 192.168.50.2 in your browser and click “Go.”
  3. If you see an update available, click it.
  4. Wait until the update bar reaches 100%.
  5. When CarPlay reappears on the screen, you’re done!
But my phone is still showing Jan 22 version. Is there a new version today? I did not check today

Not seen a new version since 22 Jan. There are lots of empty folders.

There are multiple versions of the dongle. The folders with U2W_Update.img in the root of the dated folder seem to be for our dongle. 1-22 and 2-17 are the most recent. 2-17 will upgrade over USB.

The original car play plug in dongles have been around for years. I found other forum posts dating back to 2017.

I know there is updates in the sub folders but I’m waiting on the next OTA release.

Yep, we see the same with our Kia Soul. Which makes navigation laggy at best, and completely jumps around to random areas at worst. Which sucks, because this was the main reason for getting this.

I received my Carplay2Air today and I installed it in my 2017 Honda Accord. It starts well. It does use the iPhone’s GPS which could be a problem, but since I prefer the car’s navigation, I do not mind. The steering wheel controls for the music work correctly. It downloaded the 1-22 update which it says is the latest for my device.

you should be able to use your car navigation if you don’t have CarPlay Nav turned on.

I do use my car navigation more than the Carplay nav. I live in Vermont and cell signals can get very irregular. My car navigation uses Garmin maps, which I can update annually. Since Vermont is a hands-free state, I rely on Carplay mostly for texting through Siri.

Worked out great. I was able to splice into the switch and keep it intact to use to reboot the dongle if needed. Ran power and ground to an old USB charger for total plug and play.

I just received my carplay2air yesterday. Have just had a couple of occasions to use it, but so far it’s working like a charm. I even updated to the latest firmware and it updated without any issues.

I’m using it on a 2020 Hyundai Kona. I’m able to use my factory nav or my phone nav via airplay. Basically all functionality seems to me just like regular airplay. I did some voice calls and it worked well. I have Amazon Alexa auto and that works well. My factory system has this irritating ‘bug’ that half the time it would connect only to headset Bluetooth profile, but not A2DP or music streaming Bluetooth profile. I have to fumble with the phone. Go to Bluetooth settings, click on the already connected ‘Kona’ device on the iPhone and then it retries and connects both profiles. Anyway, that irritation is history now with this device. So relieved.

Just for reference - I ordered directly via carplay2air website. Used a 10% off coupon I saw in reddit and chose the free shipping option. I had read a lot of folks here saying that one should avoid the free shipping and upgrade to $10 DHL instead, but I ignored that advice. Wasn’t in too much of a hurry. The device was shipped exactly 10 days after I placed my order (they had sent an email saying there are delayed due to coronavirus). And then it took another 10 days to arrive (I’m in upstate New York). They sent a shipfromchina tracking link. It didn’t show any locations but tracking updated frequently. The tracking number is actually the USPS number, and that number works on USPS tracking once the parcel reaches US shores.

A couple of minor quirks - at times there is a blue outline initially on a selection window or a button might be colored blue. It’s like the system thinks you are on a non-touch screen CarPlay device. But that goes away if you change screens. There is a very slight lag after pushing an on screen button. Not much but it’s noticeable. If you hit pause it takes half a second for audio to pause. I’ve heard that’s a quirk of many wireless CarPlay systems, so can’t fault the device.

Like I said - I haven’t spent much time on it, but initial impressions are overwhelmingly positive.

Good review

Mine arrives tomorrow for my Hyundai Ioniq EV that I collect on the 2nd March. I’ve had wireless CarPlay in my Bmw 3 series for the last 2 years, so I was reluctant to give it up.

I received my Carplay2Air adapter on Saturday - I ordered it on February 9th and requested standard shipping. I have a 2017 Hyundai Ioniq Blue Hybrid with the standard entertainment system (AM/FM/XM radio w/ CarPlay and Android Auto, no navigation).

Plugged in the adapter into the car's one USB port, synced my iPhone 11 Pro to the Bluetooth name that popped up on the screen and within seconds, my iPhone was asking me if I would allow it to connect to CarPlay. Wireless CarPlay worked like a charm, instantly, with this adapter. The device came with a firmware from December and I was able to upgrade it to a January firmware without incident - the iPhone still connected without a hitch.

Some small things that I've noticed about using the adapter - first off, it acts as though my car has physical controls for CarPlay, and has blue outlines around some of the boxes on the screen until I click onto another screen. Minor cosmetic detail, but hopefully it can fixed in a later update.

Secondly, I've noticed that it sometimes does not switch from day to night and night to day mode. For instance, if my car starts in the garage, where CarPlay would normally switch to night mode due to the car's light sensor, it'll stay in day mode. It's quirky, but hopefully this is another thing that can be fixed in a firmware update.

Finally, I have noticed a slight delay in phone calls. I was driving home from Kansas City, talking to a friend and we did keep talking over each other. However, I can't pinpoint that on the phone, Wireless CarPlay itself, the adapter, or what. There doesn't seem to be a delay when playing music, receiving GPS directions, or using Siri, so maybe it's the cell network?

One other negative that I knew about going in (and not a knock on the adapter), but Wireless Carplay itself prevents me from being able to use my Nexar dash cam - if you aren't aware of how these cams work, you run an app on your phone for recording and storage, and it connects to the dash cam via WiFi. As Wireless Carplay creates a wi-fi network for its use, the app can no longer connect to the dash cam. The cam still records with onboard storage, but its now just a pain in the butt to review footage and the footage is no longer stored in the cloud.

Battery life on the phone is good. Like I mentioned, I took a trip to Kansas City this weekend (about a 3 hour drive for me). My phone was around 95% when we left, about 65-70% when we got there, with only Apple Maps being used.

Other than that, this was an especially good purchase for me - I carry around three iPhones (personal and two work-related devices) and I usually keep each one in a separate pocket when I have to drive. Previously, I would have to fumble around for the personal device to connect it to my car and nine times out of ten, I'd pick the wrong pocket. No more! Everything can remain!

Not sure if this is a possibility for you. But I also would carry 3 phones. 1 personal and 2 for work.

With my iPhone 10+ I was able to have both work phone numbers converted to e-sim lines by the carrier.

I now only use 1 phone and can turn on/off phone lines as needed. If a call comes in it shows if it’s coming in on the personal line, work line or emergency Line.

On weekends I turn my work line off and turn on my emergency line.

At nights And vacation i only keep my personal line on.

Works great..

HOW. 2019 XC90. Brand new Carlinkit Model:CPC2-U2W, received today. I only get the red LED when I plug in the dongle on the USB port with the white outline.

I have the same issue in my Opel Corsa 2017, wont get any blue light or bluetooth connection.

Yeah, I know about the multi-line capabilities of the iPhone, but unfortunately, I work for a state government and a federal agency, both of which use pretty strict MDM with supervision because of the nature of my work. No BYOD program, either. I'd move one of the lines to my personal phone in a heartbeat.

there is now a 2/25 update in the online directory but still nothing for OTA. Has anyone updated to this 2/25 version and if so any significant changes?

I have Carplay2air

There's no Update File inside of the root Folder of "2020-02-25"
This means there is no update for the "Wireless Carplay Activator"

Ok. Not sure why support would say they have released multiple updates since 1/22 then
