Anyone successfully get this to connect on a current generation GM MyLink 8” screen? I had this working perfectly in my MK7 VW GTI. I simply cannot get it to connect initially via BT on either my 2020 Malibu or my wife’s 2019 Equinox. Both with the same head unit. Frustrating.

My 2018 Sierra has been working 100% of the time with the manual update to 3/6/20 firmware update.

But I do have to let the splash screen load before I start the truck. It’s actually become a habit already. So not bad.

Thanks for that info. Looks to be a different head unit on yours. Just wish I could get more direct help from the vendor. Nothing else I can do here since it won’t connect at all initially.

I just got an update from a fellow Maserati owner who received his CarPlay2Air a week ago. He said it works 99% of the time and isn't sorry he got it. I just ordered it for $119.

I know there must be instructions on how to flash it manually in this thread (since OTA is down), but if someone can direct me to them that would be great. I am assuming it won't come with the latest FW? Did yours?

Last question - if I plug directly into the C2Play's USB port, does it bypass the device or just charge?

So for what it's worth I have the Carplay2air and a 2017 Tahoe Premier and iPhone 10s. I recieved it about a month ago. I originally had the same problem you are having, just could not get it to connect to the Tahoe. I traveled the following week and had a Toyota Camry for a rental vehicle. I tried it in the Camry and it connected on the first attempt and performed flawlessly for two day. I then download the latest version of firmware over the air (OTA) 2020-01-22.2233. When I returned home it connected to the Tahoe using the setting it used in the Camry.
I cleared the setting in my iPhone and was able to reconnect using the Chevy settings. To be clear I must plug in the adapter after the Infotainment system has started to boot.
I have not upgraded to firmware version 3/6/2020. After seeing 2018 Denali report the 3/6/20 firmware may fix the having to connect the dongle after the Infotainment system boots I will probably upgrade the firmware today.
So my recommndation is find an friend or family member with a vehicle the dongle is known to work in and test and configure in that vehicle. At least you'll know it works and it may help it work you your vehicle.

It will only charge.

Assuming your dongle is recognized by your headunit, it will do both.
bypass the dongle, meaning, it goes to wired carplay mode where we all know that charging also takes place.

Thank you. Is this how you flash the firmware as well since over the air is down?

On my car (Hyundai Kona 2019 model), it only charges - did NOT get a wired carplay connection.

I have not updated the firmware on my Carlinkit dongle either thru OTA or USB since receiving it, as it has been working well out of the box, except for the slight lag I mentioned when tapping on previous or next button for audio apps.

If you meant updating via the USB port "on" the dongle, yes, that's where you connect a USB stick containing the firmware.

Anyhow, please refer to post #1,208 of this thread for the USB update procedure.

Hi all, I have a Mercedes Classe A 2016 with CarPlay activate. I would to know which is the best Carplay2air and Carlinkit header for my ça? Thks

Thank you. Just what I was looking for. I have the Car2Air coming and although the hardware is the same as the Carlinkit, I will get there latest from their download site and flash manually if necessary. I’m kind of hoping it ships with the latest.

Has anyone updated their iphone to the ios 13.4 GM build released in the week? I cant get the adapter to work now, the iPhone says not supported which is worrying. All other ios 13.4 betas were fine...

No problems here. iOS 13.4 GM, iPhone 11 Pro Max
Thank you. That’s good to know. Must be me! I have deleted the device from Bluetooth, restarted the phone, restarted the single and still can’t get it to connect. Does anyone know if the single can be fully reset?

Nobody to answer me ?

This has been answered multiple times and usually is answered withing the product descriptions of the units.

If your car support wired carplay, get the Wireless Activator (Carplay2Air for factory systems, Carlinkit Wireless Carplay for Factory Carplay", "Carlinkit U2W", generally anything that does NOT have Android in it's product name).

If your car does not support Carplay but runs Android, then pretty much anything then the description will be something like "Carplay Adapter for Android Systems/Head Units, ...), there will be both wired and wired+wireless adapters for that.

That's like my Lexus - you can use BlueTooth actually for phone calls, messages and it plays music also BUT if you want to use CarPlay (like to see the Map apps on the screen), you have to plug it in via USB. Would love this "wireless" connection if it works properly on my car.
I have a 2019 Toyota Avalon and it also only has wired CarPlay. The odd thing is it has a wireless Qi charging bay... which is just about useless since I need to have my iPhone plugged in anyway. Clearly Toyota wasn't thinking clearly.

About the only time the wireless charging bay is useful is if my wife is traveling with me. She could charge her phone during the drive.

Thks you for your response. I understand understood that i can use Carplay2air or CARLINKIT « U2W » since my car has factory CarPlay ans Android Auto.

My question is what is the technical difference between the two products or which one works best? For example does it work better with Mercedes cars than the other?

Or does Carplay2air has more advanced technical support than Carlinkit (u2w)? Or is it exactly the same thing?

because is not the same price

after reviewing 69 pages I'm jumping in. I know from reading that 2019 Honda Accord Touring does not work because its headend in Android 6.0....True?
I have a Carplay2Air and tried to update the U2W update img as per the instructions on post #1208. If I go to the parent directory there's U2W updates all the way through 3.21.20. I downloaded that image and tried to load via the instructions and I get no blue light, just the red light. First, does anyone know what the latest carplay2air (or carlink) U2W update date is? If so is it in the parent directory in the link on post 1208? Thanks in advance and so hoping this thing will work for the 2019/2020 honda accord

The last manual USB update that works with Carplay2air is 3-6-20 it’s on the folders main directory.

They are exactly the same thing, so buy the one that is cheaper (just make certain that if you buy the Carlinkit that it is the "Activator" version (U2W) and not the much cheaper model that is meant to add wireless carplay to android devices.

Also, use the search function at the top of this page--look for the magnifying glass icon, click it and where it says "Everywhere" change to "This thread" and then search for Mercedes if you'd like to find other posts from people who have tried the adapter with Mercedes vehicles.
