I am searching for a Carplay adater that also works in a Mercedes-Benz with MBUX system. Which one is compatible with it? Who has such an adapter that runs with MBUX?

Nice! I have a similar issue with the USB power port on my Maserati. It’s intermittent and mostly has issues with quick stops. I haven’t pin pointed it yet on whether leaving the phone in the car helps, taking the FOB with me helps, locking it helps. But anyway, can you share a link to that Amazon switch? I know it’s buried here on this mega thread somewhere.

Also, I think you are a first in that your adapter came loaded with the March software. I got the CP2Air a few weeks ago and it updated over the air to 1.22. Did you tell them what kind of car you had? I wonder if they manually flashed it for your car whereas leave 1.22 for others?
Thanks! The power thing is more about how GM chose to power up our USB ports than a Carplay2Air issue. The switch will be a good workaround for me.
I was surprised to see my firmware version after having read this thread. It's 2020.03.18.1455. I discovered today that it has the 5 min music issue. So I am going to have to look into changing it. I saw your post saying that they alerted you to a new one coming soon. I might wait and see if it fixes it.

But all in all if they can fix the music issue, I am happy with the device.

Hey folks. Are the music skipping issues happening on both carplay2air and carlinkit units? I have the carplay2air unit and audio skips and jitters every now and then. i'm on the latest firmware from carplay2air - not sure if there is anything newer. and on that note, are the carlinkit and carplay2air firmwares interchangeable?

Thank you. Wow, I’m pretty sure again that 3.18 is a first as well.

What is the 5 minute music issue? Sorry if covered recently but I am not familiar. I do get some random split second drops in music. Almost like interference. I am hoping this gets resolved with the next release.

After bricking my last one trying to manually flash it, which was Amazon Prime, after waiting this long and waiting for the new one to come from China, I will leave well enough alone. A return would take forever.

They are the same thing. I didn’t notice audio skips until the latest iOS update. But I also didn’t have it very long before the update.

Itsmehuey you can check you firmeware version by opening Safari after Carlinkit/Car2playAir is conncected to your car. The browser on your phone will tell you the fimware version and let you know if there is OTA (Over the Air) update. January 22nd firmware version at least for NON USB-C removable cable version is the only version still on Carlinkit's download site and what updater page compares your installed version too.

As to the "same" the original hardwired USB version which as I noted previously also has a version 2... Both Carlinkit (the manufaturer) and Car2play Air use the same firmware according to people here and elsewhere.

Carlinkit has now come out with a USB-C version (with removable) USB-C cable. Car2play does not carry this model.

Car2play Air seems to be a English languange distributor of a private labeled version of Carlinkit (they only sell 2 models of Carlinkit devices).

Carlinkit actually has many models of products for different purposes. Judging from my Presales questions to Car2playAir I and other people here their is no advantage to ordering from Car2play air. They do not have their own update site and have very poor customer service. They took multiple attempts to get a response and could not even answer my questions about the pass though port that is used for non OTA firmware updates.

As noted prevously would only recommend ordering from Amazon shipped devices or perhaps Ebay as they offer some protection of sales as well. Generally stuff shipping from the US will come within a few days, If it is coming from China the lead times are usually weeks to months.

Just to add to this, I have experience with both CarPlay2Air and Carlinkit. I ordered the CarPlay2Air directly from their website and it took about a month to get here. At one point, it was stalled on tracking for 2 weeks. I emailed them constantly and was underwhelmed by the ansers, so I filed a dispute with PayPal and they immediately refunded me the full cost. I was a bit surprised at how quickly they decided in my favor since it was supposedly shipped and enroute. My guess is that PayPal is used to disputed about this company and acted in the buyers favor. Since then, I did eventually receive it and am using it now, however, PayPal has not reversed my refund "yet" I would guess at some point CP2A will prove to PP that is was delivered and will be looking for money.

Before the CP2A, I bought the older similar versions via Amazon Prime. Fortunately or unfortunately, I bricked it trying to manually update it, so I did a Prime return for instant refund.

In terms of communication, I find Carlinkit to be much more responsive and the quality of their answers are much better. They emailed me about the bricked unit and "wanted to make it right". At this point is was already returned and refunded.

So here I am today, with my free for now CP2A and am waiting on the new USB-C unit to arrive from China via and Amazon order. Not Prime.

Hope this helps.

Now, I have a question, my CP2A switched to a different language on boot up randomly. It's fine I guess, but am wondering if anyone knows how to change back to English? I believe the language it is in now is German, so I can't read the options on the boot screen to investigate settings? Anyone know how to fix and why this happened? The car is an Italian car, so I could see Italian being shown, but German?

For the language selection there's a small globe in the bottom right corner, just select the icon. It cycles thru the languages. You'll eventually get back to English.

The 5 min music issue is that after you play music for 5 minutes the music becomes distorted and is not really useable. Others in the thread have reported it and someone noted that they were able to fix it by using a older firmware version. I'm hoping that a newer firmware will also fix it. I keep my lightning cable in the car, so for now if I want to play music, I'll just connect the phone to the car with it the "old fashioned" way.

Got it, thanks. Fortunately, I don't have this issue. I have a skip every now and then.

Hi, is there a reset button for CARPLAY2air? I got mine manually connected once yesterday and after that included today, it won't connect at all. Support has been getting back to me, it like 12:30 am where I am. I email a day and I've spent way too many hours to get this to work on my 2019 Silverado.

No but simply unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for a bit resets it.

Did you remove your phone from your cars Bluetooth?

And are you starting the car and letting the screen be fully up before plugging it in? And have you tried more than one USB port?

Yes too all, it would connect once in every 10-12 tries. The last two day, all I get is a red light and it won't connect at all. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent trying to get this to work.I appreciate everyone's help here. I don't know what else to do to get this to connect.
Has anybody got there's CARPLAY2air to connect to a 2019 Silverado? If so, does it cneect when you get back in the truck?
Thanks, Jerry

What firmware are you running? There are a ton of Silverado/Denali/Chevy/GM problematic posts here. My guess is that it's just not meant to be with a lot of GM cars despite the support claims. I agree with you, when it just gets to be too much work, it ain't worth it. It will never be as good as wired CarPlay, but for some, like me, it works well enough that I don't feel the need to revert back to wired.

I have the latest firmware on all...truck, iPhone and carplay2air. Now trying to deal with them for a return...I just emailed them and asked, I'll let you all know.
Thanks, Jerry

Did you pay through PayPal? They don't like giving money back and will stretch out the process with emails with 12 hours delays. Dispute it.

Just venting here....when we buy we pay in full and then wait a month for delivery from China. We trust the merchant to ship and we pay in full. In return, as soon as there is a tracking, they should process the refund. They are going to try to hit you with a restocking fee and make you pay for return shipping. Both valid grounds for a PP dispute. PayPal refunded me the money as soon as I filed a dispute. Pretty sure there is negative history here with CP2A.

No, I paid my credit card.

Things just got a whole lot worse. Since this morning trying to get it connected.....I have no remote start and no lock with the horn, or using the bottom on the door, not of these work. They all worked before starting trying this in the morning...It's now going back and not going to try to use it again...Please beware.

Agree with the comment of lots of issues with Chevy/GM vehicles. I’m intrigued with the fact you said you got it connected at least once manually. How exactly? I’ve seen nothing but the red LED and nothing else when plugging it in my 2020 Malibu and 2019 Equinox.

Just a suggestion.

I think it would be best if each of us post a picture of our vehicle's head unit's main screen. that way everyone will have an idea visually if our radios are the same or not. also indicate the features like whether it has Navigation or none.

If we just indicate our vehicles make and model, our radio may be different, depending on where one is located geographically.

As an example, the latest US version Cruze has a different headunit model than the ones released here in my country. the US 2020 Chevy Trailblazer is very different and looks tiny compared to the 2020 Chevy Trailblazer version here.

what do you guys think?

cheers!

Last week I posted in this thread about having issues with nothing at all happening on a 2016 Silverado, but having it work in 2015 Tahoe (with 2017 infotainment hardware).

The Tahoe always had issues with steering wheel controls totally not working with my wife's iPhone XS, but working with my iPhone 11.

I spent an hour in the Tahoe with her phone, and found "Settings -> Return to Factory Settings -> Clear All Private Data". Suddenly the steering wheel controls started working again with her phone.

So then I figured let me go try this in the Silverado and try the Carplay2air adapter again. Boom, it worked instantaneously!

FWIW, here are the settings screens:

Thanks for you post, I was having issues with my 2016 Silverado as well not showing up on the console after plugging the device into the USB. Once i cleared out the private data it showed up and connected quickly.
