Can anyone Canadian tell me if they use carrot with much success?

Not sure if there are any other Canadian users on here, but let me know if you have any questions. Just about all my features work in Canada now - including radar as of this week's release. The only thing that may be missing, depending on where you live in Canada, is the short-term precipitation forecasts that let you know exactly when it's going to start/stop raining.

Thanks!

I live in London Ontario, it's a fairly large city.

Do you guys do mm estimates for rainfall?

Appreciate the response!

Looks like London *is* covered by the short-term forecasts! And yes, you can check the expected rainfall amounts in millimeters on the short-term graph or by adding that data point to the hourly platform if you want to see it on an hour-by-hour basis. (That last feature is part of the premium club membership, but if you're using the Apple Watch app you probably want that upgrade anyhow - it's required to get half-hourly background data updates and full customization for the complications.)

Well you've just nabbed yourself a customer. I'm extremely frustrated with the accuracy and lack of info on the Apple weather app, The Weather Network etc. I'll give you guys a try and sign up for the premium club and try it out for a year.

Thanks!

I'm deciding between Carrot and Dark sky as they both use the same data. Do you have to pay a premium every year for Carrot for extra watch complications or is that for free?

Yes, you will want to use the subscription if you're using CARROT's complications. The big benefit between the two apps right now is that you can customize the complications in CARROT Weather to a ridiculous degree, and even have different complications on the same watch face showing different data points.

I recently added a very cheap monthly option (just 50 cents), so you can easily see if you like it before upgrading to the yearly plan.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Wow, the maker of Carrot! Thanks for the reply :) It looks like a great app. All of a sudden, lots of apps have upped their IAP's and what started low is becoming increasingly more. I'd buy the app for sure but it's the reoccurring charges that i'm finding to be more than my phone bill sometimes!
[doublepost=1506538608][/doublepost]OK, this may sway me

-Does it show sunrise and sunset times in the app and watch?
-Does it show % of sunlight you'll get like weather pro?
-Does it show how many hours of sun each day?

Is Calgary, Alberta, Canada covered by the short-term forecasts?

No, it doesn't look like Calgary is currently covered by the short-term rain forecasts, but everything else in the app (including radar) will work in all of Canada.

I still download data from Dark Sky when Weather Underground is set as the default source to fill in some of the data points WU is missing. I never had any issues with Dark Sky before, so I never had any reason to code around a connection issue with them. Obviously that will have to change :\

I signed for the Ultra-premium which means I can data from Weather Underground and Dark Sky, and because Ultra-premium is required since I'm an Apple Watch user. Can you explain a bit more why we Apple Watch users need Ultra-premium?

More importantly, I have default data source set to Dark Sky, but sounds like to get the most data I should set to Weather Underground because setting it to Weather Underground also gets me Dark Sky data?

The reason I need to charge more for Weather Underground on Apple Watch is because WU charges significantly more than Dark Sky for each data update. I update in the background ~50 times per day to keep the complications up to date, so those charges really add up compared to iPhone-only users who only check the weather 1-2x per day. Plus, I also download Dark Sky data alongside the WU data, so I have to pay both data providers for every single update.

Regarding which default data source to use, it really depends on which one is more accurate for your location. WU is pretty accurate for most of the globe, and you get the best of both worlds since I download Dark Sky data with every update - so you also get Dark Sky's short-term precipitation forecasts regardless of which source you use.

So just to be clear, if I set default data to Dark Sky, I won't get WU data?

I'm all over the Northeast US, mainly NYC and Boston. Which source would be more accurate for me?

Btw, thanks for making the app! IMO, it's the best weather app, and I've tried many!

Right, but you can always switch the source at any time.

And it's hard to say which is more accurate, since it varies location by location and even day by day. I recommend checking both sources and comparing against a third source like Apple's Weather app to see which serves you best!

Ok, I'll set default data to Weather Underground as I will get both Weather Underground and Dark Sky data. :)

Is there a way to view other locations/saved cities outside of your current location on the watch?

**nevermind, found it**

I bought this app a long time ago, decided to try it out again so I could use it on the Apple Watch. Upgraded to the premium membership only to be told to use weather underground on my watch I need an ultra premium membership, seriously?

That's because Weather Underground's data is significantly more expensive than Dark Sky's. It's annoying, I agree, but I either had to charge extra for it for Apple Watch users or not offer it as an option at all.
