. I could have the watch check for a new location every time it does a data update, but I'm concerned about that causing battery drain on the watch.

Why don’t you test this out in the beta, and if users report battery drain and report back to you, do away with it?

No, it works fine for most people who use airplane mode (otherwise I'd have a lot more complaints) and does eventually update for those who it doesn't work for. I just have to find a solution for the few cases where it doesn't update immediately that wouldn't adversely affect battery life for everyone else.

And you're not exactly SOL since I literally put in that function that forces a location refresh just for you :p

Does the app have failed data updates while in airplane mode or just not bother trying? If the former, perhaps you could check the location on the 3rd try onwards after two failed updates?

A more failsafe idea might be to force a check and an immediate update on the first successful update after a failure. That way you don’t have location checks going on for no reason if it’s still in airplane mode, or if someone just turned off cellular data for a while.

I'm actually doing something along those lines already, where if the location data hasn't been updated from the phone in a couple hours, then a location check is forced on the watch. But the problem is that the next watch background update might not happen for a while after airplane mode is turned off. So it does fix the problem eventually, but there's a noticeable delay. (And it'd be the same issue if I make the watch update its location every single time, too, actually.)

Any chance you can add this to the top complication in the infograph? And have it update when it’s going to start/stop raining.

You have something similar but with hi/low and it’s just too cluttered, this is extremely nice:

Fab. Cannot wait. This is why we all love Carrot! You just cannot beat it.

Any idea when the updates are coming?

There's a big update planned for the end of the month, if the new text options aren't available in that then they will be soon after.

Love the app!!!!
Any possible chance there could be a second option for the modular infograph center spot could sport the line graph for upcoming weather like on the phone? Thanks

Perhaps in the future!

Thank you for the response!

One more thing...

Is there any possible way the top center circle on infograph when selecting condition+temp, could the condition be slightly bigger within the circle or is that as large as apple allows it to be?

Thank you.

Unfortunately that's as large as it can get. I wish Apple had included a template where the image could be in the center and the text at the bottom, that would have been useful for this!

How do you get that nice line graph for the widget? I can't find it anywhere.
[doublepost=1542709370][/doublepost]I love Carrot so far! Only thing is that I would like to add both a temp hi/lo corner complication and a humidity corner complication to my infograph watch face, but it seems to be either or. Is this a limitation from Apple, something that is possible that I have missed, or can it be added in the future?

The line graph is from a pretty old design of the widget.

That's not a limitation from Apple, it's just that I haven't gone through and added every conceivable combination of data points so that I can keep the list of options from getting ridiculously long. I'm hoping to redesign the customization screen to allow you to pick your own combinations, instead of having to pick from a pre-made list.

If this happens, would I then be able to have different Carrot data in say the top left and top right corner? That would be great

You can add a second complication of the same slot type, but you need to use the CARROT Fit beta to do so. Install the beta, then add the CARROT^3 complication to your watch face - which you can then customize from the CARROT Weather app on your iPhone.

Ok, that seems to be a little more work than I feel it's worth. I'll just get by with what I've got for now :)

I have now used carrot for a few days, and I love the Apple Watch app! It has a great way of representing data that fits the watch so well. Unfortunately though I find the actual weather data to be inaccurate. Today Carrot has been showing me -4°C while my window thermometer and all other weather apps have been showing an accurate -8°C. Humidity is also slightly off.
I don't know where DarkSky gets their data, but it can't be from the official government operated weather station where everyone else seems to get it.

I switched to WU data in the app to see if that would help, and the temperature was accurate, but wind was off by ~2000%. Real wind was 1 m/s. Carrot now displayed 21 m/s and awarded me an achievement for high wind strength. The WU app will show this erroneous wind speed value about half the time so I'm guessing it's a personal weather station that is reporting bad data.

I love Carrot on my Apple Watch but it's unusable with inaccurate data, unfortunately :( I'm guessing the chances of adding other data sources aren't huge?

Edit: I also think there's a bug. When I activated WU in the iPhone app, I also got the new data on my watch although I'm not an ultra premium member (just regular premium)

I think the temperature reading depends on where the temperature station is - and the temperature can easily vary 5+ degrees in a few miles/kilometers.

For example, many weather apps etc use airport data if there’s one convenient. The closest large airport to me (about 15 miles/35km) from me is beside a large lake, so the temperature that I usually get is about 5 degrees warmer in the morning and 5 degrees cooler in the evening - the lake is moderating the temperature range. This is compared to my deck weather thermometer.

Also, you generally lose about 3 degrees per thousand feet/1 km of elevation, so a difference in elevation can make a difference.

You can actually change the WU weather station that CARROT draws data from in the locations screen. But funny you should ask about the chances of adding other data sources - send me a support ticket by tapping the green feedback button at the bottom of the settings screen and I'll add you to my beta program.

Cool! So would it then remember that station when I love to another location and back? Say I travel to another city and come back home, will it then show my last chosen station, or will I have to chose manually every time?

I have sent a ticket!

If you set a station for a saved location, it will always use that station. If you set a station for your current location, it will use that station when you're within 2 miles of it.

Just a heads up if you suddenly get an influx of 1* reviews - the server you use to update appears to have been blocked in China. I need to use a VPN to update the weather now... which is less than ideal.

Coming up on a year since I’ve purchased this app. I’ll be dropping WU and sticking with Carrot. Checked several other weather apps and yeah Carrot still leads. Nice work MakerofCarrot. Wife and I are happy subscribers. Using Carrot daily on the watch, iPhone, and Mac.

-Happy Meatbags.

Weird! I'm just using Amazon's content delivery system, nothing fancy. That's definitely annoying!
