Cases kill the experience

It absolutely sacrifices the look. It looks like it has a cheap, glossy cover on it. It looks like the plastic-covered furniture at grandma's house.

My point is that resale value doesn't matter to me. Because I don't sell my phones. I continue to use them after their primary service of being a phone is done with.

Apparently not selling your phone is a new idea?
 
This thread is a fun read. I have a Magpul Bump case on my 5s and love both the looks and feel of it. A secondary bonus to cases for me is, 10 people can own the same phone, but with the vast array of cases and colors available, no two will look alike.

LOL!

Yet in a sea of cased iPhones you can always tell who has an iPhone and who does not. Very, very few iPhone owners ever bother to change their default ring/notification tones. 😉

Not like they don't want to. I hate the default ringtones but at the same time I don't want to ever connect my phone to iPuke to change it!

Well, I don't bother to go through the settings and change all those defaults because my phone is on silent 99% of the time, so it's too much of a hassle to change all those things that I'll rarely if ever have to hear.
 
I'm speaking mostly about the average iPhone person you'd find outside of MacRumors.

I don't know if there is a correlation between those who use cases, but don't change ringtones, but among those I've encountered who used cases it's been true.

Anecodotal for sure, but interesting to me nonetheless.
 
That was my first thing to do, change the ringtone and the sms-tone. Unfortunately I had to use "iPuke" that I hate from the bottom of my heart.

My point being a ringtone that's not a stock ringtone.

All the tones I use on my own iPhone are holdovers from my 2009 HTC Touch Pro. And many of my installed ringtones are from HTC devices.

You'd probably suspect I had an Android until I pulled my phone out. 😀

If this wasn't an item that I regularly walk with on a crowded street/bus at 4-6 feet off the ground on concrete and my kid didn't ever handle it I would be more inclined to go case free. That, and if Apple was more firgiving when you drop the thing. It may be meant to not have a case, but a case is cheaper than repair lol.
 
I have a very thin clear case. I don't like scratches on my phone. I also drop my phone sometimes. The case I have works. I can't stand seeing cracked screens on iPhones.

1. I'm rough on my stuff. I travel a lot and running through airports and in rental cars without a way to secure it. In my personal car I have a mount that sticks to the windshield. I was running to make a plane and had my phone in my hand with two suit cases. I ran up the stairs rather than wait for an elevator. I turned the corner and hit the banister dropping the phone. 2. I like the clip and carry the phone on my belt. I have a pair of Bose ear buds and listen to books when I travel.

The phone is too fragile and expensive to not have a case.

The Defender seems to be the standard of the construction field in my area. It makes the phone big and bulky but it offers great protection from drops and greasy, dirty hands. I wish there was something with that level of protection that added minimal bulk to the phone.
