There is no chat option for me to choose from??

Also are we paying in the store when we pick up the device or charge in advance?
Log into your Apple account and go to your orders. You should see a "Questions about this order?" toward the top right of the order.
[doublepost=1473457467][/doublepost]Was on hold for 2 hours and 45 minutes. The person at Apple changed it without an issue! I have the AT&T Next installment plan (upgrade after 12 months). I would still recommend changing the billing address on AT&T! I did ask about this, and she just stated that since it wasn't preventing her from changing the shipping address, so she was just going to go ahead and do it. I saw the change reflected on the website immediately.

To clarify, it sounds like the process for AT&T phones bought on apple.com is...
  1. Change billing address in AT&T to your shipping address
  2. Call 800 MY APPLE (and wait a really long time on hold)
  3. They can change the shipping address to the address entered in step 1
Is this correct?

Yes. I would absolutely do it this way, and I think it is the best way to avoid potential problems. While it is only my gut instinct about the first step, I would still do it just to be sure - it's better be safe than sorry.

On my second try on the phone I got through in about 2:30. Unfortunately during the final 30 minutes of being on hold my order went from Processing to Preparing for Shipment. The lady on the phone was super nice and said she'd send a note to the shipping department or something (I forget the exact wording she used) and that the address online will be incorrect until the order ships but that when it actually ships it should update to the new address. Lastly she told me that if it doesn't update to the new address to call back in and they'll see what they can do.

I'm in the same boat as you, they told me the same thing but I'm a little nervous that it won't get updated in time.

I was on hold for 40+ Minutes only for apple to tell me they couldn't help me. Said that the upgrade program essentially locked the account and that I could try calling Citizens One but they weren't sure they would be able to help. I asked why I had to ship to the AT&T address when I was buying an unlocked phone and why there was no warning about this happening and got silence. They said it didn't make sense to them but there was nothing they could do. Note that I was not previously enrolled in the upgrade program before preordering the 7. Super frustrating.

What really gets me is if you order your phone on ATTs website you can enter any address you want but for some reason through Apple they only ship to the main address for "security". I've wasted hours today on the phone, I'm talking like 6 hours total trying to resolve this and then all they say is oh don't worry we will fix it but it won't show online. Frustrating.

Thank you for asking Apple. Did you change your ATT billing address after they changed the shipping? Now I am worried that the change could set off a red flag on Apple's end.

I was not explicitly told to. With that being said, I really don't think they would know either way. I did change my billing address on AT&T just to be on the safe side INCASE it did show up as a "red flag" with Apple.

So even though mine is an iPhone Upgrade Program order and it is currently in Preparing for Shipment, the guy I spoke with over the phone told me that he submitted a shipping investigation that could take 24-48 hours so lets hope they get it and approve before shipping as it needs to ship to California and right now its said to ship to North Carolina.

I can't change the billing address on my account for AT&T because its a family account that is linked billing. I'm hoping I'm ok though. After 2:30 on hold, the lady changed my shipping address for my 7+ Jet Black 256GB. Anyways, my shipping isn't until Oct 18th-31st. Also, I am paying in full, so no IUP or AT&T Next.

Awesome news!

The rep put in some sort of ticket for incorrect shipping address and warned it could possibly delay it by a day. The trade off of waiting a day isn't so bad. Especially if I would've had to drive 150 miles to pick it up in my hometown.

If they resist at first, politely mention if a supervisor can make the changes and then they will consult with a senior advisor.

Good luck everyone!

My rep put in a ticket as well. He said it could take 24-48 hours for the shipping address change to go through. Now my order status is Preparing for Shipment and shipping address is still not changed on my order. Hopefully I'm not screwed at this point.

Im in exact same boat as you, lets hope for the best!

I'm out of the country right now and I would have a crazy bill if I keep waiting on hold. Is it possible to change the address through the shipping company? Say I tell them to hold at a UPS store or something

After 2 hours of waiting on the phone and never talked to a apple specialist and over a hour in a chat, I was finally able to get a hold of somebody. Where they fixed my shipping issue. I bought the phone under a att next every year plan.

Waited 40 mins just for Apple to tell me to change the billing to my current address. I'm on my parents account, they're in FL, I'm in NY. They don't wanna change their billing address to my address in NY cause "it'll mess up the billing and taxes". Guess I'm kinda screwed then.

As soon as it ships you can change it back. I do it every year.

I'm in a similar situation, but Apple changed my shipping address on the order no problem. The billing on my AT&T account has not changed

I am on phone with Apple now trying to figure this out. Will keep you posted.

Yes, but does this apply to ATT customers who are supposedly locked into the shipment details on their account?

Yes, I've had AT&T for years. I order through Apple and change my shipping info after its out of the "processing" stage each time I buy an iPhone.

Will it affect my delivery date? Just making sure doesn't affect based on prior releases.

No

I'm still scratching my head on why some people were able to get their shipping address changed on the spot and the change was reflected on the order right away.
That I have no idea about. I was "in processing", after 2 hours on hold I explained to the gentleman that I needed both case and phone shipped to my office. He hesitated at first, then checked and said something along the lines since I was paid in full and not under AT&T contract (ordering an unlocked phone attached to one of the numbers under my AT&T account) he could do it. It literally updated on my screen as soon as I refreshed, before we ended the call. Immediately checked on the app and new information was there also.

I called this am. Waited 32 minutes and began updating my info. Dropped the call. Apple called me right back. It was very easy. I got an email right away conforming change. I updated address with AT&T yesterday. Customer service was excellent and friendly.

Call times are much shorter right now.

For those having success changing the address, were they able to change it while it's Preparing for Shipment or only if still processing?

Also are they changing if you're doing the Apple Upgrade Program?

I bought my Phone in full through Apple as an AT&T customer. I Believe this is an only AT&T issue since I know people with other carriers and no issue changing online. Yesterday while my order was still processing but got charged maybe an hr. before so I knew I didn't have much time before going into shipping. I was able to call apple about 45min Hold Time. and the rep saw that it was AT&T but paid in Full so he said let's the see. He tried and he also seemed surprised it was giving him the option to change the address he said lets try gave him new address he confirmed right away I got notification from bank of a $2 charge (Tax Difference) and he said it worked. got e-mail then went to shipping right after...
