Perhaps this low-end iPhone is destined for developing markets. Namely Brazil.
iCloud and iOS 5 ...
why would they make the 4 the lower end and the 4S the "high end". seems pretty stupid and confusing 2 the customer to me. they will probably release the 4S now and announce the iPhone 5 for a bit later, which i wouldnt mind as i have to wait til january anyway xD
what have they been doing for the last 16 months?![]()
I think it still makes sense. Al Gore said that Apple would announce 2 new iPhones.
thats it?
have you used ios5? its hardly epic
apple getting lazy next year the gap will shorten by a big margin with the competitors
Seriously this is a joke, they easily could have got this out for June, but because ios5 wasn't ready it would look like even less of an upgrade over the iphone4 then it is

No, I mean the 3GS was the top end iPhone. Then when the iPhone 4 came out, it slid into the cheap tier.
Similarly, the iPhone 4 will slide into the cheap tier (but maybe with only 8GB). No need to change the name, just call it an iPhone 4 (with 8GB)

Why no iphone5 photos leaked yet?
OMG, god forbid u have a choice![]()
I kind of wonder if they aren't setting this all up to be the same across all carriers.
Right now ATT has 3G and 4 and whatever they release next. Everyone else just has 2, nothing on the super low end.
I think they might do this:
Cheap 4: Free with contract (ATT has wanted this for a LONG time)
4S: $49-99 mid-range phone
5: $199-299 top-tier
It makes sense to me that if they wanted to redo their launch time, they might want to reconsider which sub-markets (high tier, mid, low) they compete in.
They stand to gain by offering a "free" phone because the provider subsidizes and all app store money goes to apple.
Just my .02.
Also First Post!
Setting my expectations very low at this point and preparing nasty emails to Tim Cook.
Why would they make Tim's first keynote be a crappy spec bump? He'll be crucified in the media. Screw the Assistant feature, Apple HAS to release new hardware to keep mindshare.
This makes too much sense now:
N90A = reduction of iPhone 4 storage to 8gb
N94 = 16 or 32gb iPhone 4S
All the carrier references, cases, and that one twit pic with an iPhone 5 label showing 64gb are exciting but it's not looking good at this point. Apple's biggest misstep in a while.
I really don't think the next iPhone is going to be called iPhone "4S". I think the only reason Apple did that with the 3GS was because it actually was the 3rd generation of iPhones. That put the iPhone names on track with the generations. The next one will be called 5 no matter if its a small bump or a while new design.
Naming it 4S just because it's a small bump would imply that the next major one will be called 5 even though it's the 6th generation...that would just be confusing.
if this fails , im going Windows phone 7 then.![]()
I have been absolutely hoping for a redesign, mostly for a larger screen (as have many) however, looking at my iPhone 4 right now and imagining it with an A5 processor, 8 Megapixel Camera, and Voice Assistant I can live with that. Especially since I'll be leaving Korea in November after a year and be going back to sprint, The IPhone 4S on Sprint will be more than enough to compete with Sprint's current Android offerings in all but screen size. Screen size isn't THAT much of a deal breaker for me. I've previously owned the Evo 4G and it was an admittedly fantastic device, but in my opinion the IPhone 4 and IOS5 will be the BEST Eco-system 1-2 punch still on the market.
I mean honestly, once you think about it what ARE the huge flaws with the current chassis design besides the fragile glass backing? And even that for me hasn't been a problem since I dropped my first one and wised up and got a case for my second one. The design IS unique and unlike any on the market. You simply CANNOT mistake an iPhone for any other device on the market, and that is indeed a valuable asset for Apple.
Why the hell would they put the dual core A5 processor and 1gb of ram in a the current form factor? Doesn't make sense with a tiny screen, it's a waste of horse power. There must be a new design being announced on Tuesday.
You may say that but as far as I can remember weeks ago an A5 processor was found on the N94, and now of course we know the N94 is the "4S", maybe there will be a "5" alongside it, but the "4S" will definitely have an A5 processor.
