Right then why does it only use the CDMA icon ? Where is there a reference to a non-CDMA icon for the "4S" ?

It's a world phone and doesn't have two separate versions; the antenna layout is the same as the CDMA phone but supports both CDMA and GSM.

I really don't think the next iPhone is going to be called iPhone "4S". I think the only reason Apple did that with the 3GS was because it actually was the 3rd generation of iPhones. That put the iPhone names on track with the generations. The next one will be called 5 no matter if its a small bump or a while new design.

Naming it 4S just because it's a small bump would imply that the next major one will be called 5 even though it's the 6th generation...that would just be confusing.
You are still ready to believe that after 'iPhone 4S' showed up in iTunes Beta. You need to stop dreaming about iPhone 5. It's bad news but still a fact which we all have to face.

But Apple doesn't let you see what they send you. Corporate stores rarely if ever know anything before we do.

Don't burst my tiny little bubble. :(

But Apple wouldn't have sent the cases would they? Lol the case manufacturer would have, in which case it's open season for us.

Lol don't worry....my bubble is deflated as well. I was getting pumped over getting a new iPhone design since this would be my first one. I'm an Android fan, but I think both platforms are great. Only wished the screen was a bit bigger. The time I finally save up money and get ready to pull the trigger, it turns out to be the same iPhone I could have gotten 16 months ago with some cloud and voice command features tacked on that I already had since the G1.....

There still is an outside chance though. I know we came across a few inventory entries listed as "New Product", that carried the same price as cases in store. We're hoping these are the iPhone 5 cases.

Curiously enough, my store is in the same city as corporate headquarters for AT&T Mobility. A few weeks ago, one of my manager's associates who worked in the emerging devices department, dealing with NDA devices came in to buy a stylus for his HTC Jetstream. He never went into real details about his job, but he did mention how excited he was for the LTE devices and how the company had big things coming up. I mentioned how a lot of customers were holding off waiting on iPhone 5 news. To which he gave a rather unenthusiastic reply about if it wasn't going to have LTE, then there was no reason for him to buy it. I thought he was just being Team Android, but now I'm wondering if subtly he was trying to let me down easy. :(

how about made in the US for a change?!!!

when are we going to start manufacturing anything in the USA again. in the old days anything made in china was second rate.
It would be refreshing not to see "Made in China" for once. ;)

Eh, I'll be buying either way, as will millions of others.

I am hoping for a redesign, but the sentiment that the device will be a complete failure if it isn't redesigned and named "5" only exists within the bubble of rumor sites.

Lets all sook over the numbering of an iPhone.

People do this because the numbering and suffix usually indicates a redesign or not. An "S" simply added to a 4 would signify no redesign, and a 5 would likely signal a redesign. That's why there's so much fuss over it.

The logic of this is failed, the new iTunes Beta 9 CDMA icon would have to have a SIM slot on it if it's to be a true world phone, ala iPhone 4S.

The icon does not show the left side of the iPhone where the SIM card slot is located.

1) whenever companies are allowed to pay workers the same as overseas

or

2) whenever consumers are ready to pay a lot more

Because iOS 5. iPhone 5. 5th generation.

Only a bunch of strange people in a forum worried about numerology care about that.

Real businesses make decisions based on more important factors, such as the form factor of the phone not changing from the iPhone 4 design.

I didn't know thinking logically was considered strange. Thanks for the tip

No redesign? No problem.

Why is no case redesign such a huge problem here? It sounds like nearly every component of the rumored 4S will be pretty significantly improved.

Plus iOS 5 sounds awesome and Assistant could be real Jetsons type stuff.

so stop whining already!
