Amen. I'm 6'2 and have big hands and the 6 is too big for 1-hand use...
i'm sure you've discovered this already, but just in case you didn't know, you can double TAP the home button to bring the top of the screen down about one third of the way.

I'd switch from my iPhone 6 to this one in a heartbeat.

Of all previous iPhone form factors that I owned, iPhone 6 is the only one that frustrates me. Even after a year of daily usage it's still awkward to use with one hand on the go. I can feel it in my pocket when walking upstairs or sitting down to tie shoe laces. Makes me regret upgrading - Every - Single - Time - this happens. Ugh. 5S had perfect size for me.

I agree, although I'd hate to have a worse camera just for the smaller size. The 6 looks comically large in my hands, and the rounded edges make it even more slippery. Every time I get out of my car I have to deathgrip the thing for fear that it's going to go flying out of my hands.

I plan to upgrade my iPhone 5S with an iPhone 6C mainly because I want Apple Pay support. I very much hope it will also support 3D Touch but I'll buy it just to get Apple Pay support, 801.11ac, LTE Advanced, the A9 chip, the motion coprocessor, and improved cameras.

I have absolutely no use, need, or desire to get a 4.7" phablet. I already have an iPad Air for when I want a two-handed device.

Ditto - so far in fact that I went ahead and bought a 5S for use, retiring my 6 that I bought on launch day. I just purchased the 5S about ~1.5 months ago. So much better to use.

All the mini people in the world unite! Too funny. The 5 just feels like a child's toy in my grip these days.

In saying that, if Apple could trim the top and bottom, that would be a bad thing; allow for bigger screens!

I'm 6' and for me it's not about reaching top part of the screen. It's about reaching the left part of the keyboard while also having a firm grip of the phone. It's either awkward to reach with the thumb or the phone is simply resting on the fingers with no meaningful grip. It's just waiting to tip over on the next misstep or bump. And yes, I text and walk occasionally.

My new phone strategy is to find a phone I like, still using my 5, use it until an expensive repair happens or the latest IOS software will not work on it anymore. This changing for sake of change is not working for me anymore. So far on this phone I have saved almost $500 dollars by not upgrading so often. I am also not seeing the necessity of the new features. Nice to have, will most likely use when I do upgrade but not a gotta have for me. Sum it up, the new three year plus upgrade plan seems very doable for me.
My exact same philosophy. I had the 4 for 3 years, and currently use the 5S. Don't plan on upgrading til late 2016/2017

The main problem is the width of the phone, not the length.
so it's easier to reach the top with your thumb than it is to reach the side? weird. i'm only 5'6 and my thumb goes about an inch over the left side on my iPhone 6. i must have freakishly long fingers

I kind of see it differently - the small one-handed phone makes it more likely for people to be texting when they shouldn't be - like driving.

That's great for people who need small phone. I however, refuse to use any phone smaller than 5 inch. iPhone 6 should be 5 inch and I can tell you is that you can absolutely make 5 inch phone as big as iPhone 5S and make it full HD for God sake

Yes, lets cater to your whims: make it so Apple...

Actually you can't make a 5 inch phone with the same size as the 5s. If there is one out there I'd like to know about it. Show me a 5 inch phone with a height of 123mm.

For now. But an iOS upgrade or two from now, probably not. That's aside from missing features, if those are important to you.

Still, not one person is addressing my point. The op was questioning if his 5S would last just a few more months until the rumored 6C is announced. That's way before the release of iOS 10. So why would he question if it could last that short of a time period if it is performing great today? And missing features are already missing today, he was talking about the 5S not lasting until April, implying some kind of degenerative change.
