I'm still amazed by the people in this thread who can't seem to comprehend that this phone isn't for them.

No one's making you buy it. No one's taking away your bigger models. Its existence isn't a threat to your existence.

"The first book I wrote was about 1800 pages long. My second book was about 500 pages long, and identical in content to the first book except that I removed the word 'I' ". -Henry Kissinger

Seems like the story of this forum sometimes.

Still, not one person is addressing my point. The op was questioning if his 5S would last just a few more months until the rumored 6C is announced. That's way before the release of iOS 10. So why would he question if it could last that short of a time period if it is performing great today? And missing features are already missing today, he was talking about the 5S not lasting until April, implying some kind of degenerative change.

Good point.

I was speaking more generally about the issue with the 5s still being part of Apple's product lineup, or what not get a 5s, etc.

I agree. Choice is a good thing. I'd love to see Apple offer all 3 sizes (4, 4.7, 5.5) with the same generation of components and let customers decide what works best for them.

But if they are going to use leftover parts for the 4 inch model - at least use don't cut every corner.

my guess - it is going to be just size/display shrink-ed version of iPhone 6S - one can hope right? (then remove the iPhone 6 from the line up)

same component different sizes and difference price points.

but people like the iPhone 6 size so why would they get rid of that? because YOU don't like it? lol

4" is still ridiculously large, I refuse to replace my 3GS until they release a 3.5" screen with all the latest feature set.

by having iPhone 6 for $100 less, it might affect the sales of iPhone 6S.

dropping iPhone 6 makes sense if 4" iPhone 6S has A9 in it (assume it is less than $450).

I have two iPhone 6 - what is there not to like it? ;)

ahhhh...gotcha!

Hopefully this comes in at $500. The monthly payment on that would be cheap enough for me to justify getting my son a phone just for streaming video. I had thought of a tablet but I would need a sepparate data plan and have less data to use. This phone would be around $12 per month (just two dollars more than the cost of changing our fourth line to a tablet plan) but we would get twice he monhtly data, rollover data, and binge on as well.

Why wouldn't it? My 5S is only a few months old and it's very fast on iOS 9. I personally see no need to upgrade yet.
mine is 2 years old and a bit sluggish compared to friends 6s. I just don't want a giant phone!

if there is an event in March,

Wouldn't the focus of the event be new Macs?

New MacBook, new MBA, new MBP, new mac Pro, and new mac mini, any of these are possible.

4 Inch is the perfect size. Can whip it out, type a text/email with one hand. So much nicer to hold.

I text with one hand on my iPhone 6 - I'd say 80% of the time is single hand .. only time I'm 2 handed with my phone is laying in bed on my back ... only securing it so I don't bop my head from the dropping the phone .. The 4.7" size is perfect for medium sized hands and I'm a hipster case phone owner all the way back to iPhone4 -- days So yeah 6 years using Hipster cases easy for single hand use for me ..

Actually you can't make a 5 inch phone with the same size as the 5s. If there is one out there I'd like to know about it. Show me a 5 inch phone with a height of 123mm.

Sorry, i meant iPhone 6S... i just compared iPhone 6S and my 5 inch Moto G and Huawei P8 lite... they are about same size, with 5 inch phone just bit bigger. I believe Apple can make 5 inch iPhone 7 without significantly increase its footprint. 4.7 is still tiny screen in my taste

I'd switch from my iPhone 6 to this one in a heartbeat.

Of all previous iPhone form factors that I owned, iPhone 6 is the only one that frustrates me. Even after a year of daily usage it's still awkward to use with one hand on the go. I can feel it in my pocket when walking upstairs or sitting down to tie shoe laces. Makes me regret upgrading - Every - Single - Time - this happens. Ugh. 5S had perfect size for me.

I'm not sure I'd switch to a 7c if the internals are basically "last year's model", but I totally agree – I moved from a 5S to a 6S and I absolutely hate the form factor of the 6. It's uncomfortable and unwieldy. I understand some want a bigger phone, but Apple's own research showed that the 4/5 form factors are optimal for one-handed use. I don't want to be a second-class citizen in the Apple ecosystem just because I prefer a more ergonomic phone size.

The problem with Apple is they will put in weaker specs in the 4 inch phone. They don't like it when technology is more powerful with a smaller screen. I think to solve that problem, they should just raise the price so they make the same profit.

Exactly. No one is saying that Apple should stop making 4.7" and 5.5" phablets. There is clearly a significant market for them. There is similarly clearly a market for 4" phones. It's shocking that people think Apple shouldn't make phones (that are not phablets).

Well that is too bad. this is what you get with Apple ecosystem. You have no choice beside getting what Apple offers. On other side of the world, you can choose screen size you like, display type you like and customize your phone to your liking. The choice is yours.
