I think one size iPad Pro could work, providing smaller versions offer pencil support and promotion (no need for all of the bells and whistles on the Pro model.)
Why? If they can fit a bigger screen in the same device size I'm all for it!What is with these sizes ( if this is indeed true)?! Stick to a size and stay with it.
No iPad has ever had an OLED screen, so no iPad has ever had PWM dimming which causes headaches for many people. A separate but related issue is that the current iPad has a 120hz display with ProMotion that makes everything smooth as butter. This is impossible on an OLED.Because all iPads before that one just gave everyone ghosting text and headaches galore... The forums was just filled with millions of people with ghosting text and headaches galore.
It's probably just a translation error. Or rounding up. Like when the Chinese translation for the iPhone 6 Plus was "iPhone 6 Math".Another size? Some apps have only just caught up with 10.5 (and maybe some not even that).
Agree. Not sure who grips their iPad on the sides. Of course, you can't really go by me because I can hold my 10.5 inch Pro with 1 hand (like holding a phone from the back).I have heard this, but I never put my hands on the bezels currently. I typically have it on my desk with the ASK or I am sitting on my couch or a chair with my fingers on the back and using my thumbs to tap. My palms rest against the sides. I don't see no bezels as an issue in use.
Some apps (facebook) are not even updated for the 10.5 and probably never will be. So introducing another screen size so soon seems nuts. Hell , there are tons of apps that dont even support split screen still. Why? If they can fit a bigger screen in the same device size I'm all for it!
your mum uses maxi pads.I still wish they called it the MaxiPad
It looks like this may be the 10.5 but with a 11 screen after the home button is removed, i really think adding Face ID to the iPad is a great idea i love it on my iPhone X works brilliantly, one of my favourite Apple features. I also think it would be great to see Face ID appear on the Mac

It will likely replace the 10.5" iPad Pro with no home button they can put 11" into the same frame and maybe reduce the bezels.
Yeah, but i am worried about side bezels, they are already thin on the 10.5
I am worried because i was hoping to keep my 10.5 inch smart keyboard and that it will still fit. Don’ t want to get another new one.
That would make sense, but Apple seem to have lost the ability to introduce a new form factor without increasing the price somewhere along the line, and I don't see further iPad price rises flying so they will presumably want to keep a less expensive pro model around (this could well exceed the price fo the 12.9 even if it isn't oled)
Haven’t you seen the rumors? It’s mentioned right here in this article too. This IS the “future of iPads” with a new X design. It's probably just a translation error. Or rounding up. Like when the Chinese translation for the iPhone 6 Plus was "iPhone 6 Math".
Apple just introduced the 10.5. I doubt they'll just dump it so soon. Unless the 11 Inch will be "the future of iPads" and have an all new design/screen like the iPhone X did.
The thing is though, iPad pros are already testing MacBook pricing by the time you add in a keyboard - indeed if you go with the 256 models, you're just about there at MacBook pricing with the 12.9. If they go higher the value proposition over just getting an ultrabook begins to rapidly evaporate. And that's not even taking other manufacturer's offerings into account (surface pro; the many convertibles out there). Obviously by this pricing point that's what they're competing against - people who want 'just an iPad' will have lost interest beyond the £500 price point...If they keep the overall device the same size but just take out the home button and so on you will be able to keep that keyboard.

Yea but they can tell people that there is a less expensive iPad called iPad, the pro will probably get a price increase but not as much as if they had put an OLED screen in it. Just my guess.
Get over the size differences. This is not fragmentation.Well, at least this way fragmentation can become "magical", with Tim being super excited to tell us about it.

You could have said the same about the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. I just feel they will treat this as a new premium model (as they often do with form factor changes now, not just the iPhone X, but with the new MacBooks too) and it will be priced above the 12.9 while those models remain available a la the iPhone 8 series.People who just want the iPad can buy the iPad which starts at £339 and is rumoured to get a cheaper still pricing when it’s updated (rumours of which are saying this month) the iPad Pro does start at a much higher price point and I’m not sure what Apple will do with this new version that has Face ID and so on, I just don’t see them keeping the 10.5” around while also adding s 11” version and an updated 12.9” I think they will either replace the 10.5” with the 11” or remove the 12.9” and keep just the 11” since it’s somewhere in between.

The screen size isn’t really important chassis size is. So if Apple can keep the same physical dimensions of the 10.5, remove home button, reduce beZel to give us a 11 (I say closer to 11.3), why not?
Been calling it for a while actually. 11.3 is close to the old 11” MBA and hits the sweet spot. I found the 12.9 great for laptop work but too unwieldy in tablet mode. The 10.5 was a great tablet , just a bit too small for “work”.
11 to 11.3 sounds perfect. Now if they can bump up the resolution so it can also run two full screen apps like the 12.9 that’s just bonus!
Seems like Apple decided that the most important thing to copy from Android, is fragmentation.
They just upped the screen size last year and apps had to update some elements since they became slightly blurred when scaled to the new screen. Not all apps are fully using apples adaptive resolution independent APIs. Perfect example is the keyboard. Many apps like HBO Go, Netflix, Facebook were still using the old 9.7 inch sized keyboard when the 10.5 came out and had to update since all it was was a scaled up , blurry 9.7 keyboard. Upping the screen size again will cause similar issues. Which is fine. I just don't see it happening so soon after the screen size was increased.
