I hope there is more than that, but I think you've hit the nail on the head and pounded it successfully into the board.

I know these are just renders and stuff, & that many people are not gonna agree with me here. However, I do think some of these renders do look a bit iriver-ish circa 2007, i.e. the S10 and/or the L-player. Granted neither were touch screen, as it is being rumored, they were just a screen click interface, where the screen was like the D-pad/stick.

Yes! Something along those lines... Maybe the Shuffle didn't sell well enough anyway, and it was cannibalised by the Touch and the Nano.

I really don't think much of people that wear watches myself. In this day and age it appears to be a vanity issue, rather than serving any real purpose. Certainly there are cases where a profession or activity can benefit from a watch but that is no justification for the average person to wear one.

As to your post your references to Rolex and G-Shock pretty much confirm my suspicions. It is all about jewelry and we all know who wears jewelry. Certainly not men that want to retain the respect of their peers.

Dave

Don't think of it as a watch, rather a RFID device we all will have to wear to track our every move and serve as citizenship ID for authorities. It will also track you BMI alerting both government and insurance officials to force you into mandatory "lifestyle re-education" programs, as well as calculate your "social tax" by how much and how far you move around outside your immediate community. But hey, it has a pretty screen, holds a bunch of your songs and you can play nano game apps, so why complain? Change is good! :)

Again, I HOPE they release the iOS based Apple TV, but they won't.

Reason is, that is a pretty groundbreaking product. And surely it would be the subject of the invite. But it's not. Music is. No iOS based apple TV.

Ooh a touch-screen watch would be pretty awesome actually. If it has a camera and Face Time, it's Dick Tracy made real. Now I'm sure a lot of companies could make such a watch, and maybe even have, but I'm also sure the UIs suck and Apple could bring their usual spiffiness and synchronized services to it. Not something you'd do a log of complex things with, but you could certainly use certain things like mapping (with GPS), calendar with alarms, voice and maybe video chat, music playback (could replace your Shuffle for exercise), Nike+ monitoring, and lightweight apps like weather and stocks. Anything that requires inputting of text would be a challenge though, and probably not suited for it.

Is there some pill party going on in here today?

If iPods are all going click-wheelless, thank goodness for eBay and always being able to buy the older models. I can't workout if Im having to fiddle with a touchscreen all the time. Apple, I just want to listen to music on my iPod.

My thoughts exactly: all I really want is music.

They introduced the original Apple TV at a Sept. iPod event and showed off the new GUI for it so I see no reason why they can't do that again.

Yeah I was talking to Steve Jobs today about those 3cm touch screens... said he was announcing something not too magical but really revolutionary this wednesday. As he walked away this photo fell out of his pocket!

so we are now 5 pages into this topic and I haven't read all of them, so if this was already posted, then disregard.

I want to point out that Apple did hire a Wearable Computing Engineer earlier this year, so that photo concept may not be too far off from being true. I still fully believe that this is going to be the new Shuffle. With the 3rd generation Shuffle, Apple introduced Voice Play-back that relies on you holding down the Play button on the headphones for a few seconds to activate Shuffle of All Music or the ability to Select a Playlist, and many people don't like the fact that you must own a pair of Apple Headphones w/ Remote to do so.

I think that with this small touch screen, your going to be able to swipe left/right to select all All Music or Select your favorite Playlist/Genius Mix and not rely on the Apple Headphones. With the 5th Gen iPod nano, Apple introduced many new features like FM Radio, Pedometer, Voice Memos, Video Camera and Wide Screen Display for better view Wide Screen Movies, I don't see Apple giving all that up so soon.

Thats great if everything revolved around you, but we all know it doesn't.

and I thought you want your two front teeth?

Exactly. They could preview it now and have it launch in January (with another demo. Plus if they were to launch it in January surly they want developers to start develop apps. Thats if iOS comes to it. )

There better be a wrist watch case and Apple better have a nice clock built in. These mockups are making me dream of wearing a wrist watch again...
It would need Bluetooth which I doubt. That's really the only way a wrist-mounted iPod would make much sense.

I think you're missing the point

Why does everyone assume this is a next generation of an existing iPod?

It is completely different to anything already out so to me, it wouldn't make sense to brand it as something old, apple would want to market it as new, and probably magical and revolutionary too;)

I personally think on wednesday this will be released as a new iPod or idevice, the iPod touch will get a retina display, more memory and face time camera, the shuffle and classic will get dropped, the nano will get more memory and a slight price drop and the shuffle will also be gone.

There will be a mention of the iPad in regards to sales and iOS 4 and the mythical white iPhone. ILife may possibly be Released.

Nothing too drastic with the existing iPods.

You wouldn't have to. The earbuds that ship with iPods have tactile controls on the cord. There are three buttons; two control volume (up and down). The center button will pause (one click), skip to the next track (two clicks), or skip back a track (three clicks).

I don't think the watch thing will happen, but every teenager on the planet would buy one of those things. Maybe Apple should think about it.
