Good to know it’s not just me. I’ve noticed that Safari has frequently been killed even if I keep it open but lock the phone. 13.1 and before when I’d unlock it Safari would still be there. Most of the time in 13.2 when I unlock it I’m back at the home screen and the Safari process has clearly been killed because open tabs have to reload.
Same.

I wonder if this is related to deep fusion for photos being rolled out in this release? It’s likely a very RAM intense process.

I was just thinking yesterday how good i(Pad)OS 13 is on keeping things in memory on my 7+/10.5 pro. Guess I shouldn't have let them both update this morning, woops.

This is wild I’ve been dealing with this for weeks on the beta without thinking about it. It’s a killer for two factor where I open an app for a challenge then come back and the page reloads. Been using my Apple Watch.
This.

I was forced to upgrade to make my AirPods Pro work and realized this same thing when trying to log into the Amazon App on my phone...

The Amazon app kept reloading every time I switched back and forth from my Authenticator app and the Amazon app...

I'm running 13.2 (17B84) on an 11 Pro and not seeing any of this buggy behavior.
And that is with 225 active Safari tabs, YouTube, Messages, Mail, Apple Music, News, Calendar and Settings all up and running. Everything appears to be working as expected (app switching is buttery smooth, picking up exactly where I left off).

Definitely a bug. Likely remedied in days. Hold tight.

A growing number of iPhone and iPad users have complained about poor RAM management on iOS 13 and iPadOS 13, leading to apps like Safari, YouTube, and Overcast reloading more frequently upon being reopened. We've lightly edited some of the comments to correct things like capitalization.

Artist, designer, and developer Nick Heer wrote this on his blog yesterday:On his blog, developer Michael Tsai has rounded up similar complaints on Twitter.

Marco Arment:Christopher Stephens:Cabel Sasser:More complaints are found in this Twitter thread, in this Reddit thread, in the Apple Support Communities, and elsewhere on the web.

Affected users are hoping this issue can be resolved in a future software update. We've reached out to Apple for comment.

I noticed this also the other night with apps refreshing. Come on Apple

I’m seeing this, and noticing it most on my iPad Pro 11” which I use as my primary computer. The promise of iPadOS was that I’d be able to have multiple windows, multiple instances, slide over multitasking, and a browser that works like the desktop. All of which was working (with some hiccups) on 13.1.3. Now? It’s almost unusable for app switching, let alone the full-blown multitasking I’ve come to expect.

I think there is also a bug with the spoken content feature, the one you can use by pulling from the top of the screen down with two fingers and it reads the screen, it just suddenly shuts and disappears, and it’s a bummer because I use it a lot, for example to hear a peace of news maybe when I’m washing my teeth or when I’m doing something else

So if one saves their shs2 blobs from their iPad with a legit signed version of IOS 12 .. is it possible to install that IOS version on another iPad running IOS 11? I just bought a new 2nd gen Pro 12.9 with IOS 11 on it, and would like the same smooth IOS 12 on it as my other 12.9 Pro running 12.3.1. I’m certainly not going to upgrade this new one to 13 after all this 😳

I’ve also noticed different font styles on the tabs sometimes.... see? Weird.

I see a lot of responses talking about people and money. But it seems the issue is more around management and org design than the company doesn’t have enough engineers. It‘s executives at the top who decided to have one big software release every September. The company needs a rethink about how software is released. It shouldn’t be tied to new iPhones every September. Chunk it out and release new features quarterly.

This is the primary reason I’m not getting the AirPod Pro.

I thought it was due to the price, but even if I had money to burn, I’m not updating any of my iOS devices from iOS 12.

Memory management is indeed a mess in iOS13. I have an iPhone 8 that was working just fine, but sooo many memory issues since updating. I'm having system memory resets on my phone almost every night (even when I don't have apps open). I'm on 13.1.3, but I'm scared to update ever again lol.

It's a key argument for non-apple accessories to me.

I have NO desire for all my accessories to be requiring iOS updates/fixes and certain versions all the time, simply to function properly.

This is a case of "tight software integration" being a very doubled edge sword.

Those that are having these issues - you guys need to reboot your devices. I’ve never had any problems whatsoever a bunch of slander if you asked me. Multitasking is far better on iOS than any other mobile os. In fact why would you care to use two apps at the same time on a phone? Ludicrous! Just let the ios manage your apps it does this for a reason and obviously these people have no clue why. Stick with android if you want faulty multitasking.
