If this is going to be the next handset released by Apple, then so be it. They obviously have a VERY good reason for doing this, and they will still outsell the competition.

Its nice to see alleged leaks and the such, but I still don't think its 100% impossible for Tim to bring something out the bag that we haven't even comprehended.

Lets just wait to see what Tim says on the 12th.

:apple:

If they drastically change the design, it might look nicer externally.

But I want FEATURES and don't care about the shape, size or color.

Although, I'd take it in a nice fluorescent green, if they made it that way :)

The quote below reveals it all:

"Apple is demanding more than $2.5 billion in damages and a sales ban, while its rival is demanding licensing fees."

This clearly shows Apples fear of competing with Samsung. Converseley Samsung is fearless. My how things have changed. I'm surprised that Apple is so paranoid, and would stoop so low. What a pathetic public display of cowardice.

What happened to the strong, confident Apple of the past?

I would demand money from a company if it violated my patents and copied my designs. Samsung isn't suing because they have nothing valid to sue over.

Steve would have never allowed this, and after Tim saying he was doubling down on security, i seriously don't think this will be the new iPhone at all, we will all be amazed on Sep 12th.

It would be one hell of a magic trick if what you said is true. Although probably everyone is thinking/hoping that your thoughts are true, not all because they dislike the design but mostly because of the myth/magic/difference and "wow" factor it would bring.

But I doubt it. Like we've seen before, Apple "leaks" parts of the intended product. They've done it before.

I'm not sure how you can come to that conclusion? They fear the company who can not even tell you how many phones it sell?

exactly lol, they don't reveal what they have actually sold. they gave some weird numbers but not how many people have bought them. who cares if verizon buys 2 million S3 but people only buy 100,000 it sucks. they just know they can't compete with apple's numbers and they aren't going to put themselves in a unfavorable position and make negative advertising for themselves, they know that.

I am so sick and tired seeing you guys keep complaining Apple did not innovate much and they are not catching up with the competitor. I mean seriously, what do you expect Apple to do, innovation did not come in months or even years. Since year 2007 when the original iPhone launched, every smartphone currently on the market is just an improved version of it. Adding screen size, processor power, RAM and so on.

What happen when iPhone really increase the screen size to your desire size, and everyone will just say Apple just playing the catching up game and not innovating.

BTW, I love this iPhone design when i first saw it. :)

yup

'Copy cats', lol. Brand loyalty is a ridiculous thing and sadly too many Apple users are full of it. Look, I really like my Apple products due to their simplicity and reliability, but their iPhones are becoming stale. Android is definitely under-rated on here, its a fine OS nowadays, and getting even better with Jellybaby.

"it is a fine OS NOWADAYS" lol it has taken them 5 years to become a kinda cool OS and for the first time making it run smooth at the expense of putting a ****ign CPU faster than some still-running PC's LOL. it is like the whole PC's spec vs MAC argument "no, my pc is faster" but i don't care, mac's are better and the fact pc's can run quad core 3,6 ghz proc of cheaper doesn't change the fact their OS and hardware suck.

lol, Jellybaby? seriously, these names are getting ridiculously out of hand, wtf. LOL, had a good laugh there dude.

Will be a great upgrade, just can't wait for release date to happen already.
Not really a huge fan on redesigns just for the purpose of looks. Maybe later on people will learn to appreciate iconic design which serves a function. Should also save dents on the wallet! If you feel the one you have already does what you need it to!

I'm really not interested. iPhone users have been fed the same product with tweaks here and there for years now, and if you ask me the iPhone is no where near deserving of being called an "elite phone" anymore. The iPhone (and its operating system iOS) line has gone stale and I for one wont upgrade my iPhone 4. What exactly are Apple doing to innovate or push through new technology in the iPhone? A 0.5" screen increase, probably a slightly faster processor, little more RAM maybe, and a very boring upgraded iOS 6 that I would consider iOS 5.5. The iPhone no longer offers unique selling points, Android phone are more than capable nowadays and surpass the iPhone in many ways.

They will still ship millions though.

I agree with you entirely. There really isn't anything mind blowing about the new phone design or iOS6. However I will most likely get one for my wife as she prefers the iOS interface over android and her iPhone 3Gs is getting slow.

I for one will end up with another android phone if Apple continues down this path. I had an iPhone 3G and at the time is was really something special. In my opinion the biggest thing that needs an overhaul is iOS. I could honestly live with the iPhone 4(s) or 5 design but its the operating system makes it feel like I'm still using my iPhone 3G.

I don't think anyone will "like" the headphone jack at the bottom, but as long as all applications flip upside down, it's fine. NFC is not going to be implemented enough to make a change.

I think moving the headphone jack is a great idea. The cord was always meddling around the screen with the jack on top. And hold your phone to your ear. Now take your hand an put it down to your side. The headphone jack is now facing up, thus solving the problem where my headphone jack was always facing down in my pocket, or me having to awkwardly rotate my phone whenever I pulled it in or out. ;)

As I said above, though. For most people I think this is going to be all about the camera. As much as I'd love to see it, I doubt we'll see NFC yet.

I'd like to see an overhaul of the iOS, but honestly it's the most intuitive of the mobile operating systems (except photo management, which is a train wreck).

At least they have creative names. Apple sticks an I in front of everything. ZOMG thats so awesome! And its Jelly Bean

My final predictions for iPhone September 2012:

-The appearance will be just like what we have been seeing. Stretched looking iPhone 4/4S design.

-A5 with more RAM

-LTE

-NFC

-New Dock, "Uni-Body Design", and other refinements that Apple does internally with hardware components

September 2013 iPhone Predictions:
Sames as above but...
-A6
-Thumbprint technology

Let's see:
  • New screen with several new technologies possible including in-cell, IGZO and gorilla glass 2.
  • New housing with full metal back. 1.2mm thinner.
  • New battery with a different chemistry.
  • LTE
  • First non refresh iOS device with 32nm processor. All rumors say more than just an A5 die shrink.
  • New dock connector.
  • New headphone jack location.
  • FaceTime camera moved.
  • Thinner top and bottom bezels.
  • New smaller SIM standard.
  • Possible NFC.
  • Possible 1GB RAM.

  • New, sexed-up Siri voice and dialog!!

One can only hope :p

Right because leaks never happened on SJ's watch. If you are serious about thinking this isn't the next iPhone I think you might be in for some massive disappointment come Sep 12

Or Apple wants it out there or doesn't really care. Consider this: how many other projects Apple is working on now that we know zero about. I think Apple tamps down on security when it suits its need, and lets things slip out, also when it suits its need.

Yeah because having a couple of prototypes in the lab and a product being manufactured in millions are the same thing each having the same chances of being leaked.

:apple:

It would be awesome to think that Tim doubled down on secrecy by releasing leaks of a fake iPhone 5 to cover up the actual one. I'm doubtful though considering the amount of leaks. We will just have to wait and see on September 12th.

wow more exciting news and iphone parts. Next news will probably be a photo of one of the volume buttons that looks just like the iphone 4. I wish there were some other news than iphone. Seems like Doubling Down on secrecy from apple means we are gonna keep everything super secret except iphone and leak a ton of uninteresting stuff.

Wasn't there logs of a A6 processor back in March when the new ipad was about to come out? I remember all of us saying that the new ipad was going to carry that processor until the A5X photos leaked out. I think this phone might get that processor. Then again we are all just guessing.

Would love to see 128GB too...

all in all I'm sure we are all going to be happy with the final product.

Steve would have never allowed this, and after Tim saying he was doubling down on security, i seriously don't think this will be the new iPhone at all, we will all be amazed on Sep 12th.

Actually, it's been revealed already that Steve Jobs was highly involved with the design of the next iPhone before he passed away.

they already showed that the buttons were smaller.

Anyway... anyone who thinks Apple needs to come up with some superficially radical new “fashion” every year or two is not in touch with most of the phone-buying public, but IS in touch with a lot of companies out there doing bad design :)
Couldn't have said it better myself. Change simply for the sake of change is seldom a good thing. I think Apple has nailed it in terms of iPhone hardware. I can think of a few things I'd like to see in iOS (primarily widgets) but that's an entirely different matter.
