Wasn't there logs of a A6 processor back in March when the new ipad was about to come out? I remember all of us saying that the new ipad was going to carry that processor until the A5X photos leaked out. I think this phone might get that processor. Then again we are all just guessing.

Would love to see 128GB too...

all in all I'm sure we are all going to be happy with the final product.

I think the logs were showing the quad-core gfx that the A5X has to drive the retina on the iPad 3.

If this is going to be the next handset released by Apple, then so be it. They obviously have a VERY good reason for doing this, and they will still outsell the competition.

Its nice to see alleged leaks and the such, but I still don't think its 100% impossible for Tim to bring something out the bag that we haven't even comprehended.

Lets just wait to see what Tim says on the 12th.

:apple:

i agree

Henceforth this phrase should be parsed by the server to return "I am a dumbass" and the user should be banned.

calm down dude, i think it is funny but i used it in a serious way to express what i felt. i also like it because it let's people know who the real dumbasses are, that get annoyed out of stupid stuff. what i think the server should do is detect dumbass' posts like yours, quoting mine and ban you; :)

Will be a great upgrade, just can't wait for release date to happen already.
Not really a huge fan on redesigns just for the purpose of looks. Maybe later on people will learn to appreciate iconic design which serves a function. Should also save dents on the wallet! If you feel the one you have already does what you need it to!

yeah buddy

Lordy ... I nearly wee'd myself in excitement

lol

I agree with you entirely. There really isn't anything mind blowing about the new phone design or iOS6. However I will most likely get one for my wife as she prefers the iOS interface over android and her iPhone 3Gs is getting slow.

I for one will end up with another android phone if Apple continues down this path. I had an iPhone 3G and at the time is was really something special. In my opinion the biggest thing that needs an overhaul is iOS. I could honestly live with the iPhone 4(s) or 5 design but its the operating system makes it feel like I'm still using my iPhone 3G.

the problem here is that people don't understand you can't make linear progress forever. it is kinda apple's fault for having started a phone revolution. you can make an analogy with working out and/or losing weight, at first it is awesome, then progress stalls and only true saviours and people that have persistence stick in even with the slow results because they value what they have.

on the other hand, android has never made progress and has lived all these years in apple's shadows, full of glitches, but now it is starting to progress and people are liking it. just wait, with the successing android updates, it just won't get any better, they will just keep copying what apple has until both OS are 100% identical, and apple has sued the **** out of them.

At least they have creative names. Apple sticks an I in front of everything. ZOMG thats so awesome! And its Jelly Bean

LOL, you never know, they have ridiculous names and i don't follow an ANDROID RUMORS website or who the hell knows, i don't care about them to read their rumors, it isn't impossible for them to come up with a name like that for a future OS; just think about it.

Damn, so much whining in this thread.

Go outside and do something with your lives people. Your complaining on here is not going to change anything, and you know once you use the thing you're all going to buy it anyways.

Being able to watch 16:9 video without any letter or pillarboxing is going to be great on this screen, and the extra screen real estate will be useful in many apps. The size difference of the entire unit really isn't that much, and after a couple of weeks of owning it, you won't even notice the difference.

If you don't like it, go buy a damn android.

Steve would have never allowed this, and after Tim saying he was doubling down on security, i seriously don't think this will be the new iPhone at all, we will all be amazed on Sep 12th.

Have you also considered that maybe Tim Cook is not very competent at steering his ship? I mean, if the CEO stated publicly that he is "doubling down" on secrecy and since then we have had all of these leaks, I can only surmise that he is not a very good manager. The other missteps with retail staff layoffs and the EPEAT fiasco shows that Cook doesn't have as tight a grip on things as his predecessor.

Apple was Steve's life work. For Cook, it's just a job. We need to get used to that.

As a UK user, I just hope that any LTE function can be disabled and so enjoy greater battery life.

You should read the Ars Technica report about the new Qualcomm LTE chips that are rumored to be in this next iPhone. They are manufactured at a much smaller die size and thus use less power than prior chips do. This is why Apple is always late to the game with new features like LTE. They won't sacrifice design choices to squeeze in a large power hungry chip when they can just wait and produce a superior product when the timing is right.

I think you underestimate how much Cook cares for Apple.

man i can't wait to buy it! skipped 4s - my backside glass on 4 has cracked - the time is nigh and all these leaks just make me that much more wanting...

Sure - wasn't a criticism of Apple. I'm just hoping that as I can't make use of LTE, that I get some benefit from battery life instead because I'm only using 75% of the phone's function.

Let's see:
  • New screen with several new technologies possible including in-cell, IGZO and gorilla glass 2.
  • New housing with full metal back. 1.2mm thinner.
  • New battery with a different chemistry.
  • LTE
  • First non refresh iOS device with 32nm processor. All rumors say more than just an A5 die shrink.
  • New dock connector.
  • New headphone jack location.
  • FaceTime camera moved.
  • Thinner top and bottom bezels.
  • New smaller SIM standard.
  • Possible NFC.
  • Possible 1GB RAM.

This is the most drastic generational change since it launched. I don't know what else you guys are expecting, and neither do you. Everyone fails to come up with an answer as to what would constitute a drastic change except a huge screen. Well, that's a user preference thing. Not everyone is going to be receptive to a 4.7" screen coming from a 3.5" screen so get over that idea.

Well said

That looks hideous. I really really really hope this is all a gag by Apple to throw everyone off. I don't know how anyone can call that thing pleasant looking. The 4S (looking exactly like the 4) was a test to see who the blind followers are, but this new longphone (if true) will be the biggest test to see who truly are their blind followers for life. I need Apple to bring it, because I need the other manufacturers to feel like they need to compete to their last breath. And this long horse face iphone isn't gonna do it.

Prediction:
Apple will indeed introduce this as the next iPhone ____ (insert whatever fricken number you like here) and will go through all of it's advancements. Tim will interrupt walking on stage, grabbing the iPhone out of Phil's hand, throwing it down and stomps on it and proclaims, "Not good enough!" and pulls the real next iPhone from his pocket. Whereas attending reporters faint, tech bloggers sit utterly stunned and the order of the natural world returns as Apple unveils an iPhone that once again redefines the market...

or not.... it's just a phone.

Just curious who gets to decide what's innovative or not? Seems to me everyone is fixated on a larger screen or a completely different case as "innovation". And here I thought it was all about the software in the end...

Of course they may be increasing secrecy. We don't know what else they're up to while all eyes are on the iPhone release. They may actually be happy that these leaks are diverting attention from another product that has remained under the radar.

Wishful thinking? Maybe, but he knew what he was saying and wouldnt have bothered if they didn't have something up their sleeve as (like has been shown) its almost impossible to stop parts of a device (that is being manufactured in its millions) getting out into the public domain.

For Cook, it's just a job. We need to get used to that.

This has to be one of the most idiotic comments I've read on this board. What else did Tim tell you at the family barbecue?

Regarding the leaks, they could be intentional. Especially the new dock connector design. iPhone/iPad compatible devices is a multi-billion dollar business. You don't want to release a new phone to tens of millions of people with no compatible 3rd party devices. Just a thought.

14 years with Apple is hardly "just a job." And even if it is, having a million shares that don't vest until 2021 is a hell of a big incentive to do a good job. Every $1.00 rise in the stock price is worth a million dollars to him down the line.

I don't imagine this is what they're talking about when it comes to leaks anyway. What they care about are leaks at a time when competitors can beat them to market.

Imagine the number of leaks we would have seen if they hadn't doubled down on security. ;)

Maybe apple leaked it? But I don't get why any consumer cares as long as it will be a good product. Seriously are people personally hurt there's information coming out?

Yes.Despite people saying the leaks are not "what apple/Jonny Ive/Steve would do"and being wrong each time. You'd think after so many being so awesomely wrong about the iPhone4 they would at least hedge a bit and say "I don't think this is the next phone."
Some people are gluttons for embarrassment I guess.
And there will be plenty to go around on introduction day.

****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Commenting on whether or not Steve (like you are ****ing buddies) would approve/disapprove of something, is moot and retarded.
