Theres a couple of bestbuys in NY with stock showing up but when you call they are stating they do not have any.

Same here. Lots of stores on Long Island are now saying "In Store Only" for the white 16GB AT&T, yet stores are claiming they don't have them. I'm #1 on the reserved list for one at one of these stores... "We'll call you when it comes in". So annoying.

Do Not Give Up!

I was about to give up and just buy it off craigslist but I decided to just check again. It looks like a bunch of retailers (Target and Best Buy) got em in stock today in my area (Los Angeles). I called Best Buy after seeing that 3 locations had em as IN STORE ONLY. They said they got em in but had a limited supply. I raced over to the Glendale, CA location and snatched up a 16GB Black WiFi!! I was worried because when I got there there were 2 people already waiting to get one and one of em wanted the 16GB Black WiFi as well. Luckily they had more then 1.

Thanks OP and everyone else on this thread! I'm a happy camper.

Thank you for posting the thread for Target store tracking. I tried it on a whim and was shocked to find that the only Target that had any stock was the one across the street from my office. 5 minutes later, I am happy to have my 32gb wifi! Again, many thanks to you for posting the link!

Target in West Hollywood listed available for a 16gb and i asked in electrnics and they said they had none but could come in at any time. i stood there for over an hour waiting, talked to another salesperson who said no the inventory she sees on my phone per this website is wrong and insisted they had none. I left empty handed.

Did ANYone got lucky with the Walmart inventory check?

I've been to 3 "available" stores, and NONE are available. Target and BestBuy inventory links seem to be functional, but WalMart is a JOKE

Last Tuesday (only weekday off) I wasted 3 1/2 hours of my life waiting in line at the closest Apple Store (1 hour drive) only to be told they would have some on Wed.

I didn't want to risk that again, so late last night, after closing, I checked around my state's Best Buys. The black 64 ATT I wanted (along with a few other ATT models) were listed as "in store" at only one store, about 80 mins away. I decided to get there early, knowing full well that the checker may have been wrong or they were only for reservations. After waiting close to two hours for them to open, I was told they only had white 32 WIFI avail. I decide to get it and convince myself that I want this one while driving back. About a half hour from my house, I pull over and recheck the inventories. Now two other stores list the 64 ATT as avail. I call the closest, another 90 mons away and they tell me they have 5 and it's first come first serve.

Well, i'm typing this on my new black 64 ATT purchased with 18 month no interest and a free month of 3G (minus about $25 gas). They also let me return the wifi model. I considered EBay but didn't want to contribute further to the price gouging.

Best of luck to everyone else still searching.

Best of luck to everyone still searching.

heads up Orange County, CA iPad hunters.

The east Huntington Beach target store has some in stock (white 16gb wifi which is what I wanted) and others as well. They had about 20 or 30 when I was there over lunch.

Still show available now for white 16gb wifi.

Wow I wish this was made a sticky, I wasted a week looking for ipads.
Just left school and went to a local target store and they had a nice stock of 3Gs.
Thanks.

Many Thanks

I found this forum and thread a couple of days ago, and thanks to the Target inventory checker I now have a 64gig Verizon iPad.

I picked it up at the near north Target store in Chicago. I think they have one left.

I'm thrilled and grateful.

Best,

TC

Great thread.

A bunch of Best Buys in my area were showing iPad 2's as instore only, so I called a few up. Turns out they all got shipments in but the inventory was being used to fill reservations. However, 1 store got a few extra models in that didn't have a corresponding reservation, so I was able to get a black 32GB Verizon model - the last in the store.

Thanks for the links!

I also went to this Target at 1pm today, white 16&32 Wifi were marked as available just when I was checking with the wifi of the Starbuck down of it, I was quite rejoiced and went to the electronics counter where two attendants were laughing at customers on the phone asking for ipads, when I asked for the ones in stock I just saw on their website, they looked at me like the 100th nutjob they had seen today, and I can't blame them as I surely was, and without even looking at their stock told me they were sold out since yesterday.
I insisted they check their computer, and they complied, clearly bored and fed-up, and I could clearly see that they were faking it as no more than 30s of typing random stuff they told if they had any they would have know as not one come in without being checked first by them.

Clearly I was not wanted there and went away, this ending FOR EVER my quest for an iPad2.
I had already been this morning to two other target (culver city and los angeles near rodeo dr) wich are 10min drive from where I sleep, I checked every 15 minutes since 9am and as soon as I saw "Available" I hoped in my car and got to the Targets, the first I missed by 2 min according to the clerk (5 16Gb black), and the second by 5 min (5 16GB black too).

I decided that I still have a little bit of dignity and won't pass another minute in a car driving to a race I clearly can't win to PAY for something I don't really need.

I wish you all the best of luck anyway

So we can agree that west hollywood target has the worst employees then.

I did go to the best buy next door and they guy said they had them but would only sell to their reserved list.

my question is how long is this going to go on for? I'm nto going to drive from best buy to best buy when they show available and then they tell me its for reserved customers.

Time Saving Target Locator

For those of you who are interested, I have created a simple, time saving web locator/tracker/finder for the iPad at TARGET. It allows you to simple type in a ZIP (or multiple) and get results of any locations around the ZIP that have iPads. It is based on the PHP code that was suggested in another thread for the Target information.

I modified it a bit, and it seems to work fine. I uploaded a copy of it to my server for all to use. I'd appreciate comments/concerns/feedback. Also, I'd appreciate it if you limit searches to 2-3 ZIP codes at a time and just overall being not so obsessive when refreshing. It does take a while to load because it is pulling all the data through the Target servers for each model (18 if my math is correct) and each zip code you enter.

Enjoy. :apple:

PS: If my server blows up, well, I'm sorry. I tried!

Thanks, OP

I got my new iPad because of the links in this post! My local Springfield PA store had seven last night at 9 p.m. when I was finally able to get there after work yesterday. I picked up a 64GB 3G Black VZN and they had 5 left that they had gotten in.... All after running around in the little spare time I have!

Thanks again!

Target Inventory

Has anyone been to the Target in Brandywine, DE? The inventory tracker has indicated all week that two models are in stock, but when I call to ask they basically laugh at me. Everything else I've heard suggests the website is more reliable than the employees.

Retail employees are on top of the world during these product launches lol.

I would suggest asking for a manager over the phone if you can't physically go there to check.

So if the Best Buy query shows 'In Store Only' instead of 'Unavailable', does that mean they have some in stock?

It means they have some, but most/all of the time (at least for me) it has been reserved ipads.

who knows, 3 different Best Buys around me have show available over the last 24 hours and when i called 2 said they have not gotten any shipments and one said they sold the last one 30 minutes ago

Absolutely no iPads anywhere near me, same since launch. Great job, Apple!

Yes -- BUT that doesn't mean they're available to walk-in customers. They may be to fulfill reservations people made during launch.

Don't believe the people on the phone though; in two cases yesterday the phone person said none available, but when I visited the store that was NOT true and there were certain models available.

I just called them and just missed the last of the 5 32gb wifi :(
