So if the Best Buy query shows 'In Store Only' instead of 'Unavailable', does that mean they have some in stock?

my local best buy said 'In Store Only' but when I called they said they had some available and I was able to get one. It doesn't hurt to check and call the store ahead of time to see what they say.

In regards to BB "In Store Only" status.

Ive had 3 local best buys change statuses from "Unavailable" to "In Store Only" in the past 2 days at different times.

When I called these stores multiple times. Each associate has told me that they have no iPads in stock. Two told me that the online inventory is incorrect, and 3 associates told me that they wouldn't be getting any more iPad 2 shipments for another 2-3 weeks.

Take this with a grain of salt obviously as they probably have no clue themselves.

I give you...The List!
...

Thank you!!! My iPad 2 order from Apple was scheduled to arrive two weeks from now -- but using the links in your list, I bought one about an hour ago at a nearby Best Buy.

I just registered to say thank you for this thread. I've been following it since the iPad2 launch day, but was starting to lose heart.

The Targets in Brick, NJ and Ocean, NJ have shown Available several times, but each time I head over there I've been told that they have none in stock and they have not received any in stock since launch day. I showed them the inventory site on my phone, but they maintained that it was wrong and they had not received any, even though the tracker had not shown any inventory the previous day.

But today I saw availability for the 32GB Black Wifi Ipad2 at the Middletown, NJ Target. I went over there on my lunch break, and an employee was standing by the display discussing with another customer the merits of 3G vs wifi. I assumed this would be the employee to speak to, so at the next lull in the conversation I asked which units they had available. They had 1 White 16GB Wifi and 5 Black 32GB Wifi, which matched up with what the online tracker was showing.

So I bought one of the 32GB, drove back to work, and started to post this message. Now I just need to prevent myself from sneaking out again to go home and activate it.

I created an account today JUST to say "thank you" to all the people who have contributed in one way or another by compiling links etc. to make finding an iPad a little easier. That being said, I FINALLY got my iPad today (thanks to this thread). Here's my quick story...

I've been trying all week in NoVa trying to score an iPad, but to no avail. I had yesterday and today off from work, so I figured that it would be a good time to try to and score one. I mean, I've been in Target/Best Buy more times than I can count LOL. Whenever I would see a notification stating "Limited Availibility," I would race to my car and try my luck (Springfield, VA Target). I've been calling Best Buy, and every now and then they would have a 16gb WiFi, but that's not what I wanted. I even went over to the Apple store in Clarendon yesterday around 7am, but got discouraged when I saw the line.

Let's skip ahead to today....my parents, who live in Arlington, invited me over for lunch. I'm hanging out with them and I figure I would use the iPad tracker in the Target link. When I put in their zip, I saw this for the first time...."Available." I said, "Dad, I gotta run out for a second...I think the Target up the street has the iPads."

The plan for the day was to order lunch from Jason's over in Tyson's Corner. My dad said he'd come along for the ride and we could pick up lunch afterwards. My parents live less than 5 minutes away from the Falls Church Target. I was in the car at 11:45 in in the Target by 11:49 hahahahaha. I was hustling....we go over to the electronics section and there are three people buying iPads. I find an employee and she takes me over to the display and they have two 32gb AT&T (white) iPads left. I told her that I would like to have both (one for my wife). She told me that the store policy for the iPad is one per customer....my dad then said he'd buy the other. WHEW. Long story short, I walked out of Target by 11:55 with the two iPads that I wanted all along.....again, THANK YOU to those who have contributed to this thread. If you are still looking, don't give up!!!!

*By the way....when I was buying the iPads, the lady at the register said that they had more in the back. Keep a close eye on the inventory of the Falls Church Target....

BestBuy's around DC/VA have them but only a few in each

I went by 2 today and both had 1-2 different versions but only 2-3 TOTAL left.

Friend went to another last night and they had 2 left, Verizon 16gb Wifi and AT&T 64gb 3g

Yeah the best buy in altamonte springs fl online checker was wrong. It listed both 64 GB ATT 3G and Verizon 64 GB 3G as available. I went there and wanted the ATT version. I am debating to return my 32GB wifi iPad 2 for a 3G model with more memory. I only have about 9GB left (put lots of movies on it).

They only had the Verizon one even as I was checking the online tracker said ATT was also available. They was shocked I didn't want to buy the Verizon version. They even said if I didn't want it I could resell it for profit.

Too much hassle (or risks) to flip and iPad for a couple of hundred dollar profit. I own my own small business and its not worst my time and risking my life on craigslist. I hate reselling "hot items" on ebay because of scam artists out there. Hopefully someone that wants that Verizon iPad will get it instead of a reseller.

Cool story bro.

I'll be trying the Best Buy and Apple stores in Pentagon City first thing Friday morning. I sure hope I get lucky with one of them.

My Tale of Horror with Best Buy in Oklahoma

The evening of the iPad launch I called the local Best Buy store to hear the news that I knew was inevitable--they were sold out. I wasn't upset, I should have stood in line, it was just a last minute decision that I would pick up one of the new units. The gent at Best Buy sounded chipper and informed me that if I stood in line Saturday morning I could get a ticket and pre-order for a shipment that they would have that afternoon. What can I say? I showed up at Best Buy a couple of hours before they opened and waited...paid my money, got my ticket...but never got my call. Now it's Wednesday almost two weeks later and still no phone call. I've called many times and heard my optimistic stories of "they will be in today!" but nothing. Now to my dismay some of the other local Best Buys have units on their shelves. Unfortunately not the 64 GB White unit I have reserved.

If some of the other stores have received theirs, shouldn't my store get their soon? Anyone else have any luck?

no call from BB.. booked on saturday. online inventory at walmart close to me says in stock for couple of days yet the salesman tells me they have none??

In the SF Bay area trying to buy one at an Apple store still seems hopeless. People line up at midnight for the 9:00 AM opening rain or shine. I tried 7:00AM and was too late. The Best Buy store are not taking reservations any more so those were out of me. So I started the monitor the Target store with links posted here and was able to get a 16GB while wifi this afternoon from one of the Targets. Looks like this is the only way for regular folks to get one!!

I tried the one at the Hillsdale mall this morning and was burnt by 10am, but, milo.com saved the day! As of 10:30, there were a few 64GB White AT&T 3G models at Best Buy in San Carlos, and a few others around town when I was looking, so I drove over there and what do you know, they were right!

Milo.com wins site of the day for me, and man, the iPad 2 is FAST after being used to an iPhone 3 for a while - it actually seems to load pages as fast as my MBP though that could be just the honeymoon delusions on my part...

I was able to score a 16GB white with Wi-Fi for my brother at Target as well. I'm still on the hunt for one in black for myself. It seems like Target is better than Best Buy. I went the San Carlos Best Buy two days in a row and was turned away but I guess today they have left overs.

Dayton, OH

I just walked out of my best buy with a white 16gb wifi. They had 1 left in the cage and I snagged it. I was surprised to see it laying there.

I would like to thank Virtute for this thread and everyone else for the great info. Best Buy inventory tracker helped me find an AT&T 32 Black today. As far as the Best Buy I purchased mine from in Cincinnati, the tracker was 100% accurate.
Good luck to everyone in your iPad 2 quest.

I wouldn't trust the WalMart inventory system. I went to 2 of them (30+ miles apart) that supposedly had them and came up empty.

Was walking around the Target in Clearwater FL browsing accessories for my Ipad 2. One of the associates asked me if I was looking for Ipad 2 with a smirk on his face. I said no just browsing accessories. He looked disappointed but just smiled at me and said oh I thought you were looking for one because we have some that are not on display but in the drawer underneath the register. He was like bummer I was looking to make someones day since they have been so hard to get. I was like thanks but no thanks and don't worry I'm sure you will make someones day who is looking for it eventually...LOL

Agree, WalMart inventory system sucks. I went to the local store in my area when they popped up as available again but, the electronics person said that they never got iPad 2's in this time. They wouldn't check their store inventory (because they were so sure they didn't get them) so that lead me to believe they are keeping them for friends or to lazy to check.

Just today, Target inventory popped up the WiFi black 32GB, called them, and right away they say that their is an error in the system.

Everyday, store after store and still come up empty or 5 minutes to late. Im probably gonna give up on the iPad search for a week or so. At least I still have my best buy reserve order.

This is in Connecticut.

Success!

I just had to write about my success, because I know that the Walmart website was not working for many. I checked this AM around 0800 and BB, Target, and Walmart were all out of stock in the Seattle (and south) area. I went back to sleep bummed, seeing as I go back to work tomorrow and it would be another week before I could try and search again.

I decided to check again around 2 PM because I was bored and noticed that one Walmart had changed their stock of Wht 64 Gig Wifi to In Stock. I was a little confused because I thought the website only updated at 12AM every day, and it clearly said on the bottom of the page "Last Updated on 3/20/2011 at 12AM ET". So somehow it had changed from "out of stock" to "in stock" today and never showed that it was updated. I thought it was too good to be true, and even if it was, they'd be sold out by the time I made it there. Sure enough, walked in and the person in front of me was buying 2 (both Wht 64 Gig). I was sure he picked up the last 2, but hallelujah there was ONE left!

I guess the moral is, don't trust the updated date/time at the bottom of the stock checker. If it says "in stock", might as well give them a call! What can it hurt?

And a HUGE thanks to the author of this post, I'd probably be waiting until late April to be able to hold one in my hands if it weren't for your links!

Did they still have the WIFI in stock?

Thanks OP! I snagged a Black 64GB AT&T from the Bestbuy in Oceanside, CA because of this thread.

Many many thanks!!!

Just wanted to also post my thanks for this inventory tracker. I decided the day after the release that I wanted the new iPad and snagged a black 32gb verizon. But after much debate, I really wanted the AT&T version and I literally stalked Apple every day for it.

Well, I came upon the inventory tracker Monday and saw that my Best Buy in Jensen Beach, FL had so I called before I left and they said that the online inventory was wrong and that what they had was already reserved.

Yesterday, I went on my lunch break and all they had was Verizon. So I left and went on whim after work and what do you know: THEY HAD MY 32GB AT&T iPAD. I'm so thankful.

Side note: Sorry it's so long and would you believe one of the five of us waiting to buy our iPads was a someone who was buying four. At one point, he even wanted the one that was already earmarked for me. Thankfully the Best Buy employee rid him of that notion. Sucks that people are selling for profit when there are dozens of people who really want one can't find one.

Moral: KEEP LOOKING AT THE INVENTORY TRACKER!! Your iPad will come.

Thanks to the OP, was able to snag a 32gb 3G Verizon today. It seemed that best buys around the Indianapolis area got shipments in today for anyone looking. There were some non-reservations available, which is what I got.

Thank you to the original poster! Found one on my way home from Utah in Las Vegas at a target! 16gb wifi black! Make sure when you call them, you give them the dcpi# to search! I saw they listed it as available since last night, called this morning since it still said available and the guy said none available and online was wrong. I called again at lunch with the dcpi and another guy said they were showing 3 in stock and that they were in the back! He held one for me since I told him I called in the morning and was told no. Thanks again op!!!!
