Thanks for this information! I was able to get a black 32gb wifi at Best Buy. They had it as an open item for $130.00 off so I took a chance. So far no problems at all. Not sure why it was returned but most Mac customers take good care of their items so whoever had it before me treated it well for the little while they had it. If you are willing to take a chance, ask for open item iPads. They are under the same warranty and completely checked out before being sold. Plus you get it at a discount. Now I will be able to get a good quality cover for it. Again, thanks for this information!!

lucky! =p

Just great. Got the call this morning for my BB order and I go online to check and sure enough, I'm unable to cancel my Apple order now. Can I return the Apple order to a local Apple store?

Yes, you can. :) Congrats on getting your iPad 2. :)

It works!

This works, got mine at target last night. Sales person had to look in the back and came out with it still in the shipping box! She was surprised they even got a shipment in.

Well, I checked Best Buy today according to the links and this morning the one in Bridgewater, NJ had the 64GB in both black and white. A couple hours later the black one was no longer listed, but the white was.

I went there and they said they had none, even tho the website reported that they did. So I checked on my phone using the link and it was still listed as available, every worker said they didn't have them and had no idea why it was reporting that they did.

So I'm still on the lookout for my iPad.

Well, I called my local walmarts today, none of them have gotten stock since launch, and the stock they got was slim (like 2 units). Apparently they can't even order them right now, and one of the stores said that the last they knew they wouldn't be getting any until June! Target and Best Buy haven't gotten any stock since launch either =/

Best Buy Amherst NY

Best Buy Amherst NY is listing as having Black 64GB Wifi only as available in store today. Don't bother going there. They don't have any.

Went there yesterday- the ipad was listed as available in store only on the website, but I was told they were sold out. Checked the website this AM- listed as available. Called the store before opening- no answer. Went back to the store today at opening and was told they were out. Clerk says he's had a hundred phone calls already today about it. Not from me, I said, because there was no answer at the store. Clerk looks on the website and confirms that yes, that they are listed as in store only. Checks his inventory and finds they have 2 in stock. They looked in the back with great reluctance. None. The snotty clerk told me that even if they had any, I could not buy one because there was a waiting list. Can I get on the waiting list I asked? You can't. You could have told me that yesterday.

Thanks for nothing, Best Buy.

The Walmart in Whitinsville said that it had the 32g wifi in stock, which was different from every other time I've checked. Popped down there, but they didn't have any. Only had iPad 1s in the case. The employee checked the back for stock, and couldn't find it. He said they didn't have any earlier that day either.

Sad.

When I use the Walmart inventory for 32GB it shows in stock for one of my nearby Walmarts, but the UPC that it reflects is for the 16GB. I went there the other night and sure enough they have 3 iPad 2s in the display but all were 16GB (2 White, 1 Black). However, when I do a search for the 16GB it says Out of Stock. Am I missing something or is Walmart's inventory system really that bad?

Could someone please explain how to check Walmart's inventory, I simply don't understand the process listed by Virtute.

Thanks!

I went to my local Best Buy based on some inventory on their website. When I asked about it, they said forget getting the Ipad. They are under water in Japan. I know that is not a true statement, but I did not want to debate it with him. I asked if I could order one, and he said they are not taking any orders whatsoever since the problems with availability due to Japan. You will just need to wait a couple of months. I just said thanks. Waste of time.

Thanks for nothing Best Buy for me as well!

Again, "In Store Only" means 90% chance they do not have it. If it says in store only, do not expect they will have it when you get to Best Buy. :)

I woke up at about 10 in the morning called both best buys near me(my daily ritual during this time). Of course, they didn't have any. I looked on this thread and decided "what the hell, I'll try target looked on here and found out the target 5 minutes from my house was in stock. I called them in the phone. And after 10 minutes of the lady looking at the specs to make sure it was exactly the kind I wanted, I found out this was it. It was the only iPad 2 they had and I'm very thankful for this thread. I'm typing this on my 16gb black iPad 2. And I couldnt be happier :)

It's definitely worth going into a store and talking to someone. I called the BB near me this afternoon, and they told me that unless I had a reservation, they had nothing (I have a reservation, but at a different store). I thought I would try my luck anyway. The first guy I talked to told me they had just sold out. The next guy who was working in the Apple area told me they had a few 64 3Gs left. It was a little more hard drive than I needed, but I decided to spend the extra money just to finally have one after searching for two weeks. I am actually typing this on my brand new iPad right now. Keep looking - there are things coming in. Just be sure you ask someone who actually knows!

Portland OR still seems to be out of stock...maybe it is a West coast thing? None of the Targets or Best Buy seem to have any stock...still waiting.

Damn DC stores are selling out within minutes

Several Apple stores keep selling out within half-an-hour while BestBuys and Targets have a few left every now and then but get bought soon after

Yep, I've been watching too. Nothing. Hopefully we'll come back in stock soon. Part of me worries that people are getting to them before the online status updates.

Last week I didn't see any stock show up at Bestbuy or Target on Monday, but Tues/Wed had good sized shipments. Be interesting to see if a similar pattern occurs this week or if the supply dries up a little after the international launch.
