Target Flushing NY has 2 64GB AT&T black in stock, confirmed 5 minutes ago by phone. They won't hold one, otherwise I wouldn't be posting this. Call them up to verify.

Bellevue Best Buy inventory tracker says they have 16gb white wifi, but no other ones.

It says "Available in store"

The store is currently closed. Should I drive there now (20 min drive) or wait until I can call and verify at 10?

You will more than likely spend 10+ minutes on hold and convincing them to check anyway. Hop on your horse and head to the store.

Never drive to Best Buy you need to call first because if you see a store only ipad 2 99% that iPad 2 belongs to someone. (Gift Card 100 Reserve)/

Nice to know that. :) The interesting thing is that one of the BestBuy stores around my area (45 minute drive) is showing "In Store Only" for the 16GB Wifi White iPad since last Friday. I wonder how accurate that is. :(

Chances are anything BB gets in are reserved. The woman told me the first come first serve come from the list first. I wonder if that means they'll have extra? How long do they hold them?

How long do they hold them?

I was told by BB when I reserved mine that they would hold my iPad for 48 hours and then it would be returned to stock. I have read on here that some people have said when they got the call that they were told 24 hours. I'm just hoping for a call. Pretty sure when I get it I'll be up there within 30 minutes.

Okay my question is if it shows "In Store Only" on the BB locator, are those held for folks with reservations?

I just checked a BB near me and it said "In Store Only" and when I called the gal on the phone said "I assure you we have no iPad 2s in stock" WTF?

I am just wondering before I make the drive over there???

Just don't trust the Best Buy online status. You aren't meant to see it anyway, and it doesn't jive with their reserve system.

This thread at least put my anxiety to ease. Got the one I wanted at a Target nearby and by the time I was there, another MacRumors reader was there purchasing too!

And the BB info people have posted is spot on. I think some stores are not scanning them into their systems if reserved while others scan them when they put them in the front cage. It seems random but for now, if they show in stock, they are very likely reserved. Reservations hold for 48 hours, then go to the next person on the list.

So this one could be up for grabs? I am not too confident!!!

It means it likely isn't up for grabs. There has to be no open reservations for that model. Let your fingers do the walking; if you get a really quick "no, we have none in stock" reply from the BB employee you get, then ask them what the reservation list looks like for the model you show as in stock.

man you spoiled it for me... i was really hoping they would last until i got out of work!!!

Score!!!

A big thank you to the OP for this thread. I happened to check Target availability and to my surprise they had stock of the Ipad 2. I called and the electronics rep verified they had just received a shipment of 5 units of each model. I ran over there and just as I arrived they still hadn't brought them out as they were still trying to locate them. I waited until the boxes came out and they unboxed them. Was able to score two Black 64GB 3G ATT models. Thanks again.

It means it probably isn't....

Regarding the ATT 3G's... I saw a local Best Buy getting them in stock today and was in shock... But given that it's all the way across town and the Best Buy stock status never reflects reservations, I'm not going to try for it. But if there are ATT 3G's making their way to stores, they'll eventually get to Target and stores closer by.

Plus last time I ran over to that side of town the iPads were gone by the time I got there. :(

How much do you want for one of them? :)

That is what I am afraid of....I have a reservation at a BB, just not this one but it does sound promising if they are getting the AT&T ones in...I just hate waiting!

If in doubt, call them or go over there. I've prevented myself from wasting my time in quite a few instances that way. :)

It's true the person on the phone might not actually know, but generally all the stores I know of actually tell all the staff their iPad stock status because they're tried of all the fanboys trying to get iPads. :)

Bummer. I'd get a zipcar and head over to North Bergen Commons but I'm busy till late tonight. I'd get one for you too if you wanted. Might try tomorrow if they are still available.

damnit guys!! ur making it impossible for me to get one lol... of course u post it and it wont be there tomorrow
