Higher resolution means smaller pixel size, which means a sharper picture. The iPhone screen actually isn't all that great once you see a more modern screen. On the Droid, for example, you can see much more of a web page at once and the small text is still readable because it is so sharp.

Yeah ok that makes sense. I also was thinking, with these new folders you probably will be able to see much clearer icons within the folder on higher resolution. I mean you already surprisingly can make out what apps are in the folders by looking at those little mini icons, making those mini icons higher res will only make it even easier, and make folders that much more convenient.

How can you send calendar invites?

I can't invite people when my MobileMe account is selected, but selecting my EAS account I can add 'Invitees' which allows me to select local and remote contacts

You can definitely send calendar invites. I've never tried to from my phone, so I don't know if it is actually new for 4.0 (Invitees under the event edit page). No sign of being able to accept invites like in iCal/most calendar programs.

I tried the phone number search first thing. It's something I really wanted but sadly doesn't seem to be there :(

I can accept when the invite is sent to my Exchange account, but not when sent to my MobileMe account. I was able to do this in 3.1.x tho

Still, 3 is better than 30.
That's less than a quarter of a page instead of almost two full pages.
That's true but when looking for a game it's more likely you'll end up checking all of the folders. I was hoping you could scroll inside folders. Not being able to do that does not make them unusable btw.

I have folders for categories of games.

Like arcarde, music (tap tap, rock band), sports, etc...

Works pretty well.
Yeah, I suppose we'll have to do something like that or just leave it as it is, whatever works for you. When 4.0 goes final I'll play with folders and see what it can do for me, I think they'll be quite useful even when I'm not able to put all those 30 games in 1 folder.

Using invitations with Exchange already works. If I'm right you can send and receive invitations when you're using an Exchange account but I'm not sure, it might be limited to just receiving invitations and not sending them. I currently don't have an Exchange account so I can't check it. Maybe someone else can.

Does anyone know if sms tones can be changed? Customized? That'd be sweet if you could and then I'd have no reason for jailbreaking

Also, just in case this hasn't been mentioned.

Landscape viewing in 'Photos' (Not sure what else this has been added in -

Any possibility of creating photo albums on the phone instead of only in iPhoto? Would love to be able to organize photos I've shot on the iPhone.

Gosh it's so annoying how Apple has been neglecting polishing their default apps. Why can't Photos look like the iPad's and Pre's? I'd also like to see the same style rounded photos in recent call list and contacts. iPhone is extremely polished in some areas, but seems neglected in others.

What 30 games do you have that you can play over and over again?

I guess too many :p There are some that I tend to play a lot and some I play occasionally. I think I'll just use that as a category or simply delete some apps. Hmm, installing iPhone OS 4.0 final might be a good time for me to clear out my iPhone :p I like Bejeweled 2, Elevens Game, Solitaire, Pathways and Touch Rummy the most. It's quite relaxing to not having to think a lot with those games.

First, sorry if this has been posted already. But I am on my phone, no other internet access. :(

It seems like they have implemented some type of smart zoom fir entering I formation into fields (like posting here). Regardless of how you have the zoom set, when you start to type it zooms in so the characters are bigger. Odd that it doesn't seem to kick in until the second line. Also one you are entering text it doesn't allow ne to rotate. I guess that is good. But the zoom feature, at least on these forums seems to zoom a bit much and the bottom line is typically clipped off. Another thing that I have seen it do is zoom in and out between letters! But everytime it did this it would eventually crash. The final thing is it seems to be quite a bit slower then before. I can now type a word or two ahead before it shows up on te screen. (3G)

Anyone else see this?

I did notice this about an hour ago when logging in to my universities wifi, however its not slower for me :/

I do not know if I am dreaming or not but the vibration in silent mode is stronger???

A little off topic but why is CylonGlitch's above post showing it was edited tomorrow at 37:05 AM?

Back on topic, nobody has answered the question about custom message tones. The answer is fairly obvious because it hasn't already been beaten to death in eight different threads but confirmation that Apple has ignored it again would be nice.

Pssst, it's his signature.

As for the tones, it has been confirmed in other threads that as of 4.0 Beta 1, you can not customize message tones.

The only people that need a passcode for their iPhone are the people with something to hide.

Yes, I have something to hide.

I (partly) use the phone for work related matters, so have e-mails and PFS and database files on my phone that contain confidential material.

I wouldn't get away with using a 4 digit pin on my work computer, so it's a little borderline I use it on my iPhone.

I haven't scanned this whole thread - sorry, working on taxes at the moment - but is there a fix for the damned iPod rotating from portrait to landscape? I would **KILL** for a setting that would let me fix it to portrait.

Or do I need to JB and get it over with?

I feel the same way. I'll have it in my lap while driving and it always flips to coverflow and I have to wait until it decides to flip back before pausing it. I JBed mine and have the rotation lock but I sometimes forget it's locked and think my phone is broke. The tiny playback buttons in coverflow might as well be free-money buttons because I can't ever touch them, especially while trying to concentrate on driving. Seems like there is a lot wasted space in the entire OS, for somethings(like play/pause) it's OK but for some (back, playlist) you need pinpoint accuracy. The buttons need to be overhauled to put more emphasis on touching and less on providing room for blank album art.

**Exactly**.

I've been using the iPod for language study, and by the time it rotates back to portrait mode the audio is already on the next thing, and I need to figure out just how far to set it back - frankly, it's even worse when I'm out on a walk, because I feel much more free to (try to) pause the playback. grrrr! Not to mention that language CDs don't have cover art. :p

Can anyone confirm this?

It's *much* needed.

Does it still have the horrible dithering?

One of these is 4.0, the other 3.1.3
