Well, at least it's better than the FIRST 3-page convo about the guy who thinks it's impossible to lose an iPhone.

To me, the funniest thing about that discussion: I grew up in his "city with a low crime rate." I got a gun pulled on me while walking from my car to my friend's house, in a quiet residential area. Fortunately they only mugged the guy next to me--I just happened to walk into it. Since then I've lived in Cincinnati, Phoenix, the O.C., and several larger cities in Europe and never had any trouble. Point is, lock your phone no matter how safe you think you are.

Another thing I noticed in 4.0 is that when using the camera, the shutter is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY faster. You can shoot picture after picture after picture.

wow, really?! that should be amazing! I'm getting more and more excited about iPhone OS 4.0 which makes me more and more excited about what there is to come with the new iPhone! :D

Well, it is. You remember those multiple choice questions when you had a test on school: correct or incorrect.

Somehow I always managed to choose the wrong answer.

ROTFLMFAO!!! It happens to me tooo!! :D

So, you're saying the camera is "snappier"? :D

When you connect to a wifi signal that requires you to login, like university wifi or wherever the case may be...there is now an auto-login option (like the auto-join option)

Three cheers for Raidel and his nobel efforts to get this thread back on topic!

Are there any improvements to the native calendar app?

Jeff

I was really hoping they would make the calendar and mail app look a little more like those on the iPad. I know its a much smaller screen but I was hoping for a similar interface at least.

I had the same hope.
I also thought we might see a more detailed month view as well as a week view, like Informant.

Jeff

Also when you search on search iPhone screen....it searches through your text messages too. Messages now has a search bar too, just like in Mail.

That SMS counter isn't as useful as it could be.

Rather than saying "163/160" it should say "3/60 (2)" or something like that.
"1/160 (4)" rather than "481/160"

Does anyone know if we can get wallpapers on background for 3G phones. I have heard opposite stories.

That has been present since 3.1.1 or 3.1.2, im not sure which, but it was definitely there. and its present in all apps. ;)

Nope. Side by side with a 3.1.2 iPhone it's different. The scroll isn't simply fast it gains momentum or something as it scrolls. I don't see any of that on 3.1.2.

Looks like they updated Maps to function more like the ipad. It fades the tiles in instead of just popping them in place. Makes it feel like the app is updating faster than it is, not to mention it just looks better that way.

that's exactly what I'm talking about. I have a list of about 500 contacts, before, it used to take me a while to get to the end of the list, but now with a couple of fast continuous flicks it'll accelerate more and more... ;)

It's an animation difference. I can race my way through a long list on both phones and reach the end at the same time but there's a visual difference on 4.0.
