Haven't gotten an email yet, but the person I spoke to did say they'd let me know when they ship it (which if everything goes according to plan, SHOULD be sometime today)...

I'll let you all know when they do.

EDIT: Just received this in an email

Our team here at applenberry thank you for your patience and cooperation as we await the arrival of our new product, Gevey Ultra. We are aware that we announced we would be receiving our shipment of the Gevey Ultra Thursday June 16, 2011, but we were informed that our shipment is currently delayed by US Customs.....

Grrrrrr....

No difference in "Pro" version

I have been using an "authentic" Gevey Turbo Sim unlock on iPhone 4 for over a month. It seems works fine. Problem is, I have plenty of warning of network drop (low bars) from T-Mobile. When I saw the new Gevey Pro coming out and claiming faster unlock and better signal reception. I have to try it for the sake of $10!

Well, by a week of testing, it turned out that I did not see any significant difference in the "Pro" version comparing to the original version. Same network signal loss issues with my T-mobile PAYG plan. Activation might a one or two second faster, but even that is questionable. So you can save your money just buy the red package Gevey sim and not worry about "Pro" or not.

1) You do NOT let the 112 call connect, if it does, the unlock process most likely will fail. So the whole "ethics of dialing 112" issue is non-sense.

2) I just recently understood why some people were having difficulties unlocking using Gevey SIM. 99% of them bought the fake Gevey. Yes, the fake Gevey works too, but the unlock process is sightly different.
I tried it myself, I needed to unlock a 2nd phone, I tried both the legit and fake Gevey SIM in a store here in Shanghai, if I use the fake SIM but follow the procedure for the real SIM, it fails 50% of time.

3) In China, the fake one goes for 30RMB which is about 5 USD, the real Gevey Pro goes for 100RMB which is 15 USD. So if you find a deal in USA for $10, believe me, it's fake, don't bother with it.

4) The difference between Gevey and Gevey Pro is minimal. Like someone said, Gevey Pro does not offer faster unlock process, it still requires unlocking every time the phone is powered off. The only difference is that you no longer need to trim the corner of the micro-SIM.

I have a question: Does the Gevey Ultra work with the 04.10.01 baseband? The site says it works with 4.10.1 but "1" is not the same as "01" in the world I come from.

Any ideas?

I'd like to get the gevey supreme, seems very promising.

It's a fake and the 112 process is still necessary. If you take a look at applenberry.com it'll tell you everything. I would not recommend the Supreme or Pro Plus.

The new Gevey Ultra is out and I highly recommend it.

Yes, it works with your baseband.

Thanks. I had the Gevey Ultra in the shopping cart this morning at $28.99 but I wasn't sure about the baseband. Checked back on the site and now it's $39.99.

Sigh.

My Ultra was shipped from applenberry on monday, so it should be here either tomorrow or the next day. I'll be sure to report back on its performance.

Trying to pay for an expensive trip so I'm counting every dollar.

Can someone refer me to a reputable ebay dealer they know selling the Gevey Ultra?

dialing 112 won't connect you to EMS in every country anyway, and the new gevey ultra doesn't require it so no worries there.

WOOOOOOOO!

I got my Ultra today, and everything is going swimmingly thus far! At first I saw on applenberry's site that some sims won't work (the ones with bigger metal contacts, which mine is), but after trimming it down to micro-sim size (and even trimming off some of the metal part), everything is working!

One stipulation I wasn't aware of before is that you have to be jailbroken to use it, but that's not an issue as I already am. All I needed to do was install this "furiousmod" via cydia, then shut my phone off and pop in the Ultra. I turned on my phone and after a couple no sim/no service/new voicemail notifications, T-Mobile popped up under the carrier and i have four out of five bars.

Calls, sms, data (with 3g off and data roaming on), and even push notifications are working great. I'll report back if I have any issues. I'm just ecstatic I can finally use this phone that I've had since December!

Ok I don't mean to derail anything being discussed here. I just have a question.

How do you pronounce Gevey?

Simply just 'Gee-vee'.

Are you sure? I'm being pedantic, I know, but I would assume the phonetic is "geh-vee" or "geh-vay" given the single 'e' at the beginning.

"Gee-vee" as you suggest should be spelled "Geevie" or something like that.

Can you install the furiousmod before you get a Gevey or only when you are about to use it?

AM

Yeah, Gevey said it was an error. but, fwiw, it's still on Amazon for 29.99.

Gevey said it was an error or Applenberry said it was an error? People seem to be talking about Applenberry like they are the manufacturers, but from what I can tell they are just another importer.

You got me all excited thinking Amazon carries it. However, it's sold by "Superstar Wireless" out of New York and they are too new to have a rating.

I'll pose my question once again, has anybody purchased one from a reputable eBay seller that they can recommend? Or have they purchased from the Amazon seller and been happy?
