Gevey said it was an error or Applenberry said it was an error?

You got me all excited thinking Amazon carries it. However, it's sold by "Superstar Wireless" out of New York and they are too new to have a rating.

I'll pose my question once again, has anybody purchased one from a reputable eBay seller that they can recommend? Or have they purchased from the Amazon seller and been happy?

Why not ask applenberry if they are an approved distributer? If they are bogus, won't amazon give you your money back?

fwiw, I had some time on my hands so I contacted "Superstar Wireless". I asked them if it was truly a Gevey Ultra and not a knock off. Their response was:

Yes, 100%, we are one of the authorized distributors
Would be worth double checking with Gevey...

Thanks, I'll look deeper into it. Just thought it would be nice to hear if anybody here had purchased form anyone besides applenberry. I'm sure someone has.

3g with gevey

Hey y'all
I just received a gevey supreme that I ordered on ebay, and to me seems like its fake( after purchasing I have come to think the supreme doesn't even exist?) anyways, so I have gotten the card to work, and it works fine with my att account/wifi aspect of the phone. One question I had was wether the 3g data on the phone still functions with the unlocked phone. Is it that I am using my network sim card I had been using prior to unlocking? I realize it might seem unnecessary to unlock a phone that I can jailbreak if im using it on att, but I will be traveling to another country and wanted to try it out before leaving. Do certain steps need to be taken to gain access to the 3g data aspect of the phone? Thanks in advance for any assistance, or thoughts.

http://gevey.com/ says they are fakes.

That's not Gevey, that's a distributor's website. It means nothing.

not sure how cheap people are, they have a $600 phone what to unlock it and are look for a cheap alternative to the $30 it cost from the official distributor

First of all, I didn't pay $600 for my iPhone. Did you?

Secondly it's thought processes like that that will mean you are never a millionaire. (not that that's my goal...but being frugal is always wise)

Lastly, it's a 25% difference from $30-$40. That is significant.

no i bought the subsitized price because i want to be with my carrier, im pretty sure that $600 is the no contract price

$30-$40 even $100 is nothing if it makes your device go from an ipod to an iphone

if you just want to have it for traveling then sure buy 2 fakes till your realize your at the same cost as 1 official

ALSO Gevey says beware of imitations ONLY buy form our distributors, so yes the info on the distributors site does mean something

Exactly, so using the full $600 price for your example is incorrect.

$30-$40 even $100 is nothing if it makes your device go from an ipod to an iphone

Ask a man with nothing if $100 is still nothing.

I'm not going to buy 2 fakes. I'm going to buy one genuine. But why buy one genuine from an overpriced dealer when I can buy a genuine for $10 cheaper from someone else? There are genuine units to be had from other sources believe it or not. It's like buying a Canon camera from a NYC camera shop. Sure, they aren't an authorized reseller, but they still have genuine canon cameras. (Although for an item that pricey and with a potential for warranty issues, I'd buy from the authorized retailer...but in this case I see no reason to).

Sure, it means I need to be careful. But I know for a fact that genuine units are available from non-authorized retailers. I'm just looking for someone to verify one of the sources they have used.

When I first went to the site (and to applenberry) there was a red announcement blocking the page saying pro plus and supreme were fakes.

Yeah, I'm not looking to buy a Pro Plus or Supreme because I know they are fakes and have issues. I'm looking to buy the Ultra.

he wont believe you, he wants to save 7 cents

No, I want to save $10.

Guys, if you can't be of real assistance here, stop harrassing me. If I can't find a verified cheaper source, then sure...I'll buy from Applenberry. In the meantime, only a fool would pay $10 more for a genuine product when the same genuine product is available for $10 less somewhere else. I'm just trying to verify a good source and since I have some time before my trip, I will spend a little time doing some research. Does that harm you in some way?

all the power to you to shop around, im not saying you shouldnt but gevey clearly states they only have 3 delears, so this 4th dealer where are they getting them from so cheap that they can sell them for $10 less and still make it worth their time?

i know you get price breaks but how many are they buying? and wouldnt this 4th dealer go straight to gevey if they want to deal in that many units and become an authorized dealer them self?

I'm not going to say I understand their sourcing and how they sell it for less, but like any other product there are always sources that sell genuine products other than the authorized dealers. Sometimes for less.

It's like the apple headphones you get on eBay. Yes, there are tons of fakes. But there are also real one's to be had. If you know who the reliable sellers are selling the genuine one's, you can save some money.

i totally agree with your other examples and there is a million more good examples of shopping around, not too often though does the manufature warn you so vividly to only deal with these dealers, maybe they do just to keep their distributors happy, maybe they dont want their named tarnished by fakes

It's a fake and the 112 process is still necessary. If you take a look at applenberry.com it'll tell you everything. I would not recommend the Supreme or Pro Plus.

Although maybe not made by Gevey, it works as advertised, that's what matters, no?

WOOOOOOOO!

I got my Ultra today, and everything is going swimmingly thus far! At first I saw on applenberry's site that some sims won't work (the ones with bigger metal contacts, which mine is), but after trimming it down to micro-sim size (and even trimming off some of the metal part), everything is working!

One stipulation I wasn't aware of before is that you have to be jailbroken to use it, but that's not an issue as I already am. All I needed to do was install this "furiousmod" via cydia, then shut my phone off and pop in the Ultra. I turned on my phone and after a couple no sim/no service/new voicemail notifications, T-Mobile popped up under the carrier and i have four out of five bars.

Calls, sms, data (with 3g off and data roaming on), and even push notifications are working great. I'll report back if I have any issues. I'm just ecstatic I can finally use this phone that I've had since December!

You gotta be kidding, Gevey Ultra only works on jailbroekn phones?? Really???
That's a HUGE step back if true.

Are you sure? I'm being pedantic, I know, but I would assume the phonetic is "geh-vee" or "geh-vay" given the single 'e' at the beginning.

"Gee-vee" as you suggest should be spelled "Geevie" or something like that.

Since they are a Chinese company, I would guess the intended pronunciation would be "geh-vee".
