Right I ordered at 12.03 yesterday and I'm still at stage 1 of the ordering Process so I just gave them a call to see what was happening.

The guy I spoke to said they recieved my order but they require proof of address faxed to them - haven't a clue why as I've been living at the same address for 25 years and I was an O2 customer until 9 months ago when I switched to vodafone.

They say they sent me an email saying as much but I havent recieved anything. If you are on stage 1 definately give them a call to find out what's going on.

I think I'll just cancel this order now and go to the O2 store on friday. Ridiculous customer servcie.

yes basically anyone at stage 1 still, appears to be screwed for a friday delivery.

i always think that turning off and bouncing your mechanism for communication with your customers (that want to give you money) is a fantastic idea. then thinking that it's funny that they had to turn off their email accounts. they don't think that's fantastically embarrassing?

imagine what fun it will be if you actually have a problem and have already given them your money. maybe they will run away and hide. put up boards on the windows, stick their fingers in their ears and start saying "nah nah nah i can't hear you you're not there"

what a lovely experience this has been. it's not just about getting the phone on day of release it's just the ineptitude of communication skills between customer and provider (both o2 and cpw). how about putting a notice on their websites saying 'don't bother emailing us, we're not listening' rather than just hiding.

I know it's a dumb question, but those who are expecting delivery on Friday, do they know what sort of time frame in which to expect the deliveries?

I just rang them (and got straight through) the guy said that stage 1 orders ARE still being processed and that they should get to the stores for friday. He also said that the thing that may cause a delay is alot of people in the stores on friday.

i popped into my local CPW in Nottingham yesterday and the guy confirmed and showed me that i was on their computer system and the order had gone through the and the likes.

I then asked him what time they're opening and he said 9, but they don't usually get deliveries till around 9:30-10, then they have to unpack and sort out the phones. He told me to come back around 11 so I won't be waiting around as things will be running a little slower than usual as they're expecting people to be queueing up for the iPhone, but one shall be reserved for me.

I'm still at stage 1 ... had the order confirmation at 12.01pm yesterday ..

phoned CPW (incidentally got a very chatty person from Oz! .. was REALLY nice and talkative!) .. lots of people are still at stage 1 evidentally and it doesnt mean there's anything 'wrong' necessarily ..

He put my transaction number into the system and said that it's a definite order it just hasnt been dealt with yet (overload) ..

He also told me to call them back tomorrow afternoon if it's still not moved along at all ..

As things stand there is still every chance that it will be delivered to my local store Friday as requested ..

Hope remains!

Are the majority of people opting for Store Delivery rather than Home?

Those who opted for Home, did CPW indicate any window in which to expect the deliveries?

I've just got off the phone with a nice guy from CPW. I'm currently at Stage One and there doesn't appear to be a problem with my order - it's just open at the moment. He suggested that I ring back on Thursday to see whether I can pick mine up in store on either Friday OR Monday. I asked if there was the possibility of a massive (ie. four week) delay, and he said no - it'll be either Friday or Monday.

All good - it's just a shame that I don't believe him...

Oh well...

I ordered just before 4pm yesterday. I am still at stage 1 and opted for home delivery. They did not give a time scale for delivery. On their site they say they use City Link so any time up to about 5.30pm I would say.

Ok, just off the phone to CPW.

The guy said not to worry about it still being on stage 1, as this was because the phone isn't released until friday. He said one had definitely been reserved for me and it should be delivered to my chosen store on friday.

I don't know if he knew what he was talking about but he seemed pretty confident in what he was saying!

I doubt it to be honest.

O2 have already stated in-store pre-allocation will not be allowed.

Well here's an interesting story.

My order (placed yesterday around 6pm) for an 8GB iPhone 3G was still in stage one at 6pm this evening. I don't have the greatest credit history in the world so I just called up CPW.

I was told that the network had accepted me but I would need to pay a £150 deposit (refundable after six months) on top of the £99. I agreed and gave my card details...

After I put the phone down my order had moved into stage two, and I have it from the horses mouth that my iPhone will be with me, guaranteed, on Friday 11th July, couriered by Citylink.

so you got no e-mail saying you needed a deposit ?

how bad a service is that

Yeah it could have been better but I understand they're probably swamped at the moment and I don't honestly expect them to take on extra staff for a single handset's launch.

I wasn't kept on hold too long and the person I spoke to was knowledgeable, straightforward and friendly. They could have been calling me all day but I only gave them my landline number and wasn't home all day.

As long as Citylink attempt to deliver on Friday I won't be complaining.

Sorry when I say reserved I mean reserved as in delivered to the store especially for me, I chose store delivery over home delivery. I don't think they'll sell online ordered iPhones to other customers.

Hey guys,

I rang up earlier, to be told by some idiot that there was a problem with my order, so he tried to fix things for me, but then I'm pretty sure he was just trying to sort some more commission for himself. So I went along, thinking if it gets me what I want who cares, then he told me he would have to call me back 10 minutes later, of course I waited. For about half an hour before I tried contacting him again, to no avail. So then I decided to just ring customer services again, deal with another operator and tell them that I just wanted to deal with someone else, and not this "Kevin" guy again, as another customer service advisor had told me he had to be the one to deal with my account.

Anyway, after I told this to the new person handling my order, that took my details, told me that my order was all fine and dandy, the credit checks went through fine, my card had been charged, and immediately after this phone call I checked online and had progressed to stage 2 in the tracker status. So my advice to all, ring up, it might just move your order on and set your mind at rest, it did for me.

Sorry for the longwinded nature, but I felt this may be useful to people in the same position I was.

I got the same email yesterday and called up and gave the deposit, they said I'd have the phone on Friday and my Online status moved to 2 as well.

The only thing bugging me about the deposit is the lack of receipt, I asked for one and the CPW dude on the phone said he couldn't send me one cause it was a over-the-phone. Did you get offered a receipt or anyting? Hope there isn't a problem proving the deposit when 6 months comes and it's time for us to claim them back.

Yeah I'm a little worried about that too but I'd imagine it's standard procedure. If nothing else I'll have the bank statement though. I'll wait until my papers arrive and then call O2 directly to see if I can get a receipt or breakdown of the money I've paid.

Anyone get this when tracking now?

I used to be on Stage 2.

We are sorry but there was an error trying to determine your order status. Please try again later.

yup i'm getting that now too

turning off email address, inconsistent information and now cancelling orders. fantastic.

all this for a phone. makes me want to become Amish ;)
