CPW - now preordering for delivery on the 11th online...

Think its the dreaded Citylink....

I just got moved onto stage 2. I phoned them yet again and spoke to a guy i think i had spoke to before. This time he said there was something wrong with my address history. This leads me to believe that any little error will mean that the order will stall at stage 1.
I'm now at stage 2 and the money has been taken, he is going to phone me on thursday and tell me if i get my phone friday/saturday or monday.

Grrr .. ordered 12.01pm for the 16GB iPhone .. order has been stuck on 'stage 1' for the whole time .. called CarphoneWarehouse to check (am doing that every day) and was informed there was a problem with the credit check! .. I asked if I could speak to someone about it (we own our own house, no debt, same bank account for 25 years etc etc!) but was told that I would need to wait for them to contact me!!
Next my credit card company phone me, just a random check-up, to see if I authorised certain payments .. one of these is to Carphonewarehouse for £159!! ..
Phone back CPW and explain (someone helpful this time!) the situation so he checks my transaction number and says that an iPhone has been allocated to me and that it will be at my local store ready for pick-up Friday morning .. it should be there already first thing so won't have to wait for their Friday delivery! ..
So then *deep breath* .. it looks like I may actually, really, truly, definitely get an iPhone this Friday! .. still not holding my breath! .. would say tho, keep hassling CPW, some of the operators have no clue about any of it so keep phoning til you get someone who is willing to chat and check the transaction number with you and be 'real'!! .. This guy was really good! .. when I said I'd ordered an iPhone online he said 'Nahh ... we're not selling those, I've never heard of it' *grin* .. now, with some of their employees I admit, they could have been saying that in all seriousness! lol ..

So is Citylink a bad courier? Never heard of them.

So here it is, given up with CPW they just can't get it to me by Friday all their phones have been allocated. And want me to charge me £10 to get it to me by Saturday. No thanks

You going to try your chances at the stores on Friday?
Do you live in London? Last year on launch day the Brixton store was DEAD and empty, maybe try one of the less obvious inner London stores if you're trying on Friday, (if you're in london).

Can I be really stupid and ask what "Stage 1" and "Stage 2" are.
I appreciate they are points along the order 'pathway', but would like someone to clarify the details.
How do I find out what stage I am at?

Particularly annoyed as o2 are a bunch of muppets. I ordered online 0830 day one only to be denied by the crap ordering system which gave me the 'telesales' message. By the time I got through to them, the o2 system crashed. Meanwhile CPW opened up their online sales. Again, I was one of the first to order.
This would have been fine, except that the initial o2 order was actually charged to my credit card (despite no confirmation message being sent) and so, despite the CPW order being processed, my credit card company suspected fraud and held the payment to CPW as well.
Rather than contact me, CPW sat on their arses and effectively cancelled the order (DESPITE a confirmation email being sent!). It was only yesterday (after an evening call from credit card) that I found out what had happened and contacted CPW. There is now doubt whether I'll get my phone before Monday.
Piss up, Brewery? No chance.😡

Yep and yep but there is a o2 and CPW on my high street in north London so will check it out on Friday morning....Maybe my luck might change.

I'm getting the 8gb phone and the website's still saying it's out of stock. Ringing them up now.
EDIT: The guy at carphone warehouse said i should only get worried if i've still not heard anything in 24 hours.

As you can tell i am new and i just wanted to say hi, i also have recieved a confirmed text/email stating my order has gone through and it says i can pick it up at my chosen cpw store! woooo so happy! 😀
Everyone is saying avoid CPW? Should i be worried, as i have just got an iphone on the way message (i believe) from them? 😕

In ordering an iphone 3g from the CPW i can say that yes i did get charged for the handset only (straight away after ordering), however with o2 direct i cannot be so sure how and when they charge 🙂

ok thankyou....its just i orderd on monday and have just had a confirmation email to say its being shipped out soon.
but ive just realised i dont have enough cash in my account now do to other expensises ...so as long as it was taken out when i first orderd as i know i had enought in the account then....hopefully ill be getting it on friday 🙂
