I wonder if this guy's order shipped yet or if it is still delayed. An update would be most appreciated.

Hello, sorry, been on the road I just checked the order status and the big bold "Action required" that was previously listed at the top is now gone, but, it still hasn't shipped.. the status is still "not yet shipped" with a shipping message slated as, ships on or before March 16th.. so I have no idea what's going on now.. the whole thing is just numbing me and really killing my excitement of getting a new laptop, it's out of my hands, I'll get it when they ship it..

Why anyone would prefer to squander ~$700 for a flimsy laptop of substandard build quality, waiting-to-break, instead of investing in something more reliable and durable: Lenovo, Asus, Apple, etc., remains puzzling, IMO.

Some people yearn for mediocrity. And Dell has just the product for them.

Would i5 or i7 even benefit me? Correct me if i am wrong, my understanding is that i5 i7 is going to benefit hardcore video/photo editors and gamers. For someone like me who just needs to run multiple webpages at once, word process, and take care of my ipod, do i need an i5 or i7 or will a c2d processor suit me just fine?

A C2D may very well suit you just fine. That said, you still don't want to buy one before the i5/i7 update as you'll certainly be paying more for a C2D now than you will after the update. Wait for the update, then jump on a C2D model at a clearance price.

Well said.

Although it's one thing to yearn for mediocrity, it seems a rather odd preoccupation for one to incessantly promote it - around here, no less.

The DMann modus operandi - when losing an argument, change
the topic so that casual readers don't notice that you've lost.

You mean, all the arguments you've lost, whining "blah-blah-blah" to distract from your flawed and contradictory posts?

Hypocrisy, squared. :p

Hypocrosy, squared. :p

The intelligent reader would continue to question the motives of someone so obviously satisfied with his exclusive Dell/Microsoft combo (Mmm, like ketchup and Kraft Mac 'n Cheese!) to maintain permanent (and vocal) residence on a Mac site.

Could you post a screen shot of this shipping status, blacking out personal info of course?

Spell check, dear.

Are LagunaSol and DMann the same person? Whatever, I'm honored that they
have both parodied my sig (although only one is grammatically correct).

Do you find it inconceivable, or surprising, that more than one person would find your drivel and demeanor worthy of parody?

You'd better tune up your thesaurus app - "proselytizing" is not
appropriate in this context.

Unless you think that a sig can turn someone gay, that is! :D

Are you denying, then, that you are promoting a belief or course of action?

You'd better tune-up yours - proselytizing, it is.

Enough is enough

Ok, the new MBP isn't guaranteed to show up this Tuesday or the next one or any particular one this year but can Steve please take down the stupid banner that reads "The New Macbook Pro Family". ITS NOT NEW! I don't even really want a new one. I'm not doing any graphic crunching with it. Why don't you just lower the prices of the now "OLD" MBP and I'd be happy to pay for mid 2009 technology. But really, the "New" is really insulting at this point.

A lot of current generation iMac owners are experiencing mediocrity too...

I use PCs (many brands) and Macs, and like all other hardware / software, only a few of them peek out from the mediocre category.

Hmmm....

Compromise No More - Have you talked about this with your Windows-using friends, your Windows-using colleagues, and your Windows-using relatives?
Think Different - Innovate

Beliefs, courses of action, promotion....

Is this hypocrisy or not?

(The main definition of "proselytize" is usually something like "spread the gospel to, evangelize to, make converts of, bring someone into the fold, bring someone to God" or "(Christianity / Ecclesiastical Terms) to convert (someone) from one religious faith to another".

That's much stronger than trying to bring civil rights issues to people's attentions - or trying to promote one computer OS over another.)

If Apple doesn't have any to ship now, is it maybe unlikely that they'll get more of the CD2s in, and when they do ship, might you be one of the first to get a new MBP :) Say around 3/16....

Bingo! Hence, the parody.

Ironically, as stated previously, it is only he, who continues to believe that others take what he posts as seriously as he thinks they do. :p

Can I ask if you got a CTO 17" MBP? If so, what options did you have selected?

I'm in a similar position myself; I'm about to pull the trigger on a 17" MBP CTO (upgraded to 7200 RPM). I would wait but I have an order deadline to comply with, etc.

You still have 14 days to return your purchase, which offers a modest cushion when hedging a purchase in proximity to an alleged release date.

Personally, I'd hold off, as prices are likely to drop for previous models.

If a deadline awaits, however, then, at the very least, you have a 2wk grace period. (restocking fees apply)

I have to order it via apple.com and it is CTO which I think disqualifies it for a return automatically, etc.
