You got some weird bones...

As it happens, I do!

I've seen quite a few adverts now for cut-price Macs from various locations here in the UK. It seems to me that Apple and the retailers are aware that their products are no longer competitive and are trying to keep sales going with discounts. I expect they can do that for a while unfortunately. A lot of people will be unaware of the fact that an update is due and buy anyway. It's no real skin off Apple's nose to capitalise on it either.

I really do expect the new models to be announced some time this month though. I don't see them waiting until June at any rate. That would be virtually suicidal given the competition.

Cheers,

jahman

well apple dosnt mark down their gear... so sit tight and wait for a new MBP in the upcoming weeks/months

Resellers do though and are. In the UK we have ads in the newspapers and online offering discounts on Macbooks.

Cheers,

jahman

I'm not sure what updates we'll see, but I'm not sure they'll be compelling enough to warrant a purchase of the new line over a discounted current model. That said, I refuse to pay the full retail price of something that has been sitting on the shelf for almost 9 months.

While we're on the topic of new MBPs, anyone have any experience or thoughts on SquareTrade warranties as opposed to Apple Care? I haven't ever used them, but I think I might when I purchase my MBP in the coming weeks/months. Seems like a good deal, the lack of accidental handling coverage through apple care is one of the reasons I'm considering the Square Trade thing. Insights would be appreciated!

hmm well looks like another week without MBP refresh... if only i was earning interest on the money i have sitting there to buy me a new MBP

The mid level MBP at MacMall is down 8%. Unless Jobs is an absolute looney they'll either discount or come up with something new(ish) as the sales go down. You have to think that after 9 months, MBP sales are slowing. But on the otherhand if the MBP is still going strong then Apple has no reason (other than panhandling to those of us who want something "new") to drop prices or spend the money getting something new to market.

Check this out. Note the ram and drive are not "Apple" installed.

I'm ready to try a switch from my 24" iMac to a MBP, but only if Apple provides decent HDD size options (at decent prices) after the next update. 500 GB at at $200 upgrade price (!!!) for the base 15" model ain't gonna cut it.

Hey fellas, I just have registered here. So, hi everyone, I got into this new MBP waiting mania too. We know that apple has to release new MBP sometime soon. I'm intrested in 13" MBP, so how do you think what is 13" MBP predestination? Is it going to stay in market or it's going to be removed? Sorry if that kind of answer was already posted.

Thanks, Mantas :apple:

The Apple website is down ! I've tested it on both my machines and 3 different browsers using 2 internet connections.... I am gonna love Steve for the rest of my life if it gets released today !!

P.S. - I'm not gay.

works fine for me.

thats strange... its just not loading up for me... now unless both my ip have been banned by apple, I can't really make out why its not showing up. Its giving me "transferring data from images.apple.com or waiting for images.." !?

EDIT : Its back.... oh well....

Take it back to the Apple store - replace it with one with a
working shift key and punctuation keys. :)

It depends on where you stand. I wont pay full price for June '09 hardware and I can do with my March '08 Mac Book until the new MBP comes out. If it's too expensive then I'll look for a screaming deal on the "old" MBP. If you are doing without, I'd bet you would be really happy with what's available now. If you can wait then you'll be able to pickup a used one fairly cheap from someone who is looking to upgrade when the new MBP finally comes out.

I think it's a big seller and they'll keep it in the lineup.
