I just called TigerDirect and the rep I talked to said my order (M1 iPad Air) was going to be canceled due to a system error. He directed me to a policy they have listed on their website:

https://www.tigerdirect.com/sectors/aboutus/legal.asp

Prices and Availability. Because of the fast-moving nature of the IT supply industry, prices and availability are subject to change without notice. We are unable to issue price adjustments due to manufacturer price changes after date of original sale. We do our best to provide the most accurate, up-to-date information, but errors do occur and we reserve the right to make changes without notice and to cancel any order we are unable to fill where availability is constrained and/or an order is processed in error. Your Account Executive or sales representative can inform you when a product or solution is not in stock and can tell you if and/or when we expect the product will be available. Anticipated delivery dates are based upon vendor supplied information and are subject to correction or change.

Maybe it is me but I don’t understand this logic. You order something at a half price and you cancel it on the next day, because you have to wait 5 more days? Am I missing something important here?
yeah i’ve had to wait a week for stuff off macmall decades ago - i can now wait for the subsidiary of the parent company that now owns macmall to ship me this now

Yep the “system error” whoever did it thinking it was going to bring more sales will now work the opposite way. Who will ever buy from unreliable site again? Keep it up whoeverownsTigerDirect.

I just chatted with Tiger Direct support, and they said that if you order is showing in Order Review it will take 5 to 7 Business Days to review your order, before it can be processed. They suggested Selecting Overnight Shipping when your order is placed to avoid the long Order Review phase. I cancelled my order with them, as I do not want to wait up to 7 business days, just to find out they cancelled my order on me. Your mileage may vary...
They're all going to get cancelled anyway... But I am going to wait until they actually cancel mine.. In the unlikely event their system craps out again and a few of these actually get shipped out... It's a .00001% chance but its a chance lol.

Fair enough and as expected, but there's no good reason why that should take 5-7 days for "review". No big deal as long as the card is never charged, though I can understand how someone with a low enough credit limit might be concerned about the pending charge taking too much of their buying power.

Why bother?

What did you ask before rep said the order would be cancelled? I think it's just getting weird for folks to call TD and ask the support to cancel the order , or if the sale was legit, etc. Meanwhile Bestbuy orders are being shipped , delivered and picked up currently per ( again fake or real) posts on some deal websites

I just said I was calling about my order, and I gave him my order#. Yeah I should have gone to Best Buy as soon as I saw the deal.

Yeah, same here. I didn't realize the scope of the deals expanded past the iPad Air. Really had no interest in a new iPad Air (or trying to flip one), so I scrolled past the article and moved on. By the time I looked into it further and realized that a litany of other products were discounted (like iPad Pros and Macs), and rushed over to my local Best Buy, it was too late. Oh well!!! Could've gotten a bunch of nice tech at a massive discount if we'd been quicker on the draw.

I'm actually in the worst stage of grief where I wasn't really in the market for a new iPad Pro and now I kind of want one because of this deal..
Lol! Fair enough. My coworker just said the phrase "unfounded optimism" out loud on a completely different topic, but I think it applies here. I want my 1TB M2 iPad Pro, too! :)

My gf and I placed separate orders, and we never received anything after the initial order confirmation email (the one we received seconds after placing the order). And we both placed our orders more than an hour prior to some of you who reported your order times and have since said that you also received second or third emails with further status updates. I still can't figure out why we haven't received anything else from TD, such as "pending review" or whatever. Looks like this is all going to end up getting canceled and the only winners will be the people who found a local Best Buy to price match and walked out the door with it. The only other explanation is that TD was selling a bunch of Apple gear that "fell off the back of a truck". Because there's no legit reason why a relatively unknown vendor would sell so much current gear below cost (despite some of the nonsensical theories posted in this thread). I've been buying Apple products for 25 years and I can't recall a time where I've ever seen more than a 20% discount on brand new, current generation products. 48% is just inexplicable.

It’s been a great ride…

There was a liquidation theory, which would be plausible if the discount were, say, $100 off usual retail. That would get rid of the inventory fast enough for new, current generation Apple products. There is no need to discount *this* much to quickly get rid of it.

Not sure we should be calling them and pointing out the situation, to bring attention to it. Should just stay quiet and see what happens. They may catch on eventually, but some may slip through before they notice. But if they get a flood of calls, and they start looking at the prices on the orders in question, it's sure to point out the issue.

It’s kind of wild, but Best Buy just sold the Yellow HomePod mini for $50 a couple of days ago. That was a 50% off discount on a current brand new product 😬 I missed out on the deal though.
