Not sure we should be calling them and pointing out the situation, to bring attention to it. Should just stay quiet and see what happens. They may catch on eventually, but some may slip through before they notice. But if they get a flood of calls, and they start looking at the prices on the orders in question, it's sure to point out the issue.
I think the fact that they put all of these in Pending Review status means that they know something is wrong. Their inventory also may not have updated real time too, so it might be reviewing if there's actually inventory.

But I'm sure the cat is out of the bag and it's just a matter of time that we get a cancellation message.

Don't even live in the US so couldn't access this deal and I'm still following this thread with excitement. Just want to know how this ends!
I'm sure the vast majority of us will just see our order canceled, and that's fine. But I would really be curious to hear if anyone actually receives anything that slips through the cracks (with evidence minus personally identifiable info, of course).

seriously dude? I’m sure they are well aware of the situation and were yesterday afternoon already when sales of iPads suddenly increased hundred fold from the previous day.

Yeah, seriously, dude... some people managed to get their price matches to slip through the cracks before BB shut that down, could happen here. Never know. Patience is a virtue.

I'm sure they are very WELL aware lol. this thing spread like wildfire, they probably got thousands of orders in a very short period of time... All at a big loss I'm sure.

That being said I do agree that people shouldn't be calling.. I mean whats the point? just sit back and wait for your order to be cancelled like a normal human being lol. Some folks are just extra and very impatient.

Online retailer TigerDirect has slashed pricing on the M1 iPad Air in several colors, offering the base 64GB configuration for just $313.99https://www.tkqlhce.com/click-462641-12637418?url=https://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1273774&CatId=11944 in Purple and Pink.

That's a savings of 48% compared to Apple's normal $599.00 pricing, and is by far the lowest price we've ever tracked for these current-generation models. Both models are listed as in stock and should ship the next business day.

For those who prefer cellular connectivity, the 64GB M1 iPad Air is similarly discounted to $391.99 from $749.00 in Purple and Pink. The Starlight color option is also listed at this price but described as "available for pre-order" and thus not in stock for immediate shipping. The Starlight model also requires a $9.99 shipping fee, whereas the other colors come with free shipping.

If 64GB isn't enough storage, TigerDirect is also heavily discounting some cellular 256GB models down to $469.99 from $899.00. This pricing is available in Blue, Purple, and Pink, but as with the Starlight 64GB cellular models, these configurations are listed as available for pre-order and will incur a $9.99 shipping fee.

With discounts this steep, we can't rule out the possibility that this is a pricing error and orders could be canceled by TigerDirect, but this is an excellent opportunity for those willing to take a chance on a fantastic deal on the current iPad Air. For those unfamiliar with TigerDirect, it is a longtime computer retailer that was merged with MacMall and which also absorbed online assets and operations of notable now-defunct brick-and-mortar retailers Circuit City and CompUSA.

This was not an accident....... If it was one item, I would agree, but a number of items had similar issues. I will not do business with them again. This was designed to drive web traffic.

i really dunno what these people are thinking calling in 🙄

I wonder why they can’t just cancel all those orders at once; maybe their software is unable to. My order isn’t even “pending review” yet.

The fact that they haven't cancelled these orders yet makes me think you are right... This was probably a weird publicity stunt... and they are dragging it out so people are still talking about them.... And it's no coincidence that this happened right at the start of the weekend.

Just spoke to them. The lady on the phone said that unfortunately since they do not monitor the website over the weekend there was nobody around to see that there was a "pricing inaccuracy" which was caused by "technical difficulties." She said that they got 6000 orders and there were only 200 in stock (though she didn't specify 200 of what). She said that all Apple orders over the weekend would be cancelled, including mine. A bummer.

It looks like a 2005 era web site. And if their back end is the same, I can imagine some poor schmuck sitting there for eight hours a day, for a few days, manually canceling each and every order. Maybe that's why they are saying 5-7 days? It may take one person that long to manually cancel thousands of orders....

Interesting it appears none of navigation under Apple Products on TigerDirect.com are working right now, and even when you try to manually search for Apple iPads nothing comes up.

Are people talking about them? Sure - here and on slickdeals - I'd argue that's not everyone.

I also agree - I'm thinking Apple was working with a reseller - to FU&FO about demand when pricing with little or no margin. And these 'margins' are not even real margins when you look at the true variable cost of putting these devices in a box. Maybe Apple is trying to figure out if they should come out with some other low cost option for some devices - specifically to take advantage of their Apple Silicon advantage while they still have it, and while TSMC finds itself with excess capacity.

One thing for sure - There's no way I'm buying a 1TB iPad Pro at regular prices :)

Can confirm having worked in this space and dealt with a deal blowup. Variations on orders (SKU, payment method, shipping state...) may require different treatment and updating all of the relevant systems semi-manually takes a while.

They know. They deliberately deleted Apple devices from search results. And hyperlinks to subcategories of Apple devices are deleted. The links from the article still work. Look above the pic and you will only see "Computers > [SKU number]". Used to be like "Computer > Apple > iPad > SKU Number"

Tell her not to worry. The rest of them the 5800 can wait until they replenish the stock.

I spoke to someone at TigerDirect customer service today. They are, of course, very aware of the pricing error. For the specific model of iPad Pro that I ordered on Saturday they had around 400 in stock and received > 17,000 orders. Apparently the stock only updates once per day (?). They were apologetic for the mix-up, but confirmed that all of the mis-priced orders would be cancelled.

They didn't tell me this exactly, but reading between the lines, it sounds like their "warehouse partners" may be able to input inventory and/or pricing that get passed through directly to their website. This may be sort-of a grey area between a third party seller on their platform vs. a contract warehouse that holds some of their stock for them. But the error may have come from the warehouse and somehow made it undetected (not sure how this is possibly true, particularly given how long the wrong prices were live??) onto the site.

From now on we can hear all sort of fairy tales. At least it will be funny.

You might just be joking but in case you're not, here are the 3 rules with possible price mistakes.
1. The first rule is to never call.
2. The second rule is to definitely never call.
Guess what the third rule is?
3. Wait to see what happens before calling. If your credit card is charged, the product ships, and there's a problem with what's delivered, then you call.

Yep the “system error” whoever did it thinking it was going to bring more sales will now work the opposite way. Who will ever buy from unreliable site again? Keep it up whoeverownsTigerDirect.

Its been ... forever ... but wasn't TigerDirect known for crappy issues like this back in the day?
