Anyone think that the people already with 'preparing/tracking' updates are only for the UPS shipments, and the rest of us still waiting, might be shipped by FedEx instead, with updates later today/tonight? Long shot, but a hopeful theory!

Tried to stay away, now I'm losing my mind, trying to keep busy until Friday. If I wasn't self-employed I'd be fired by now. I can't focus when I'm waiting for a new gadget. I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve :(

Been told by Apple Chat, 5PM UK time tomorrow is cut off for friday delivery.

Yeah I'm sure that if they would've sent an assortment of watches to each store, they would've sold out before the doors opened. They just dropped the ball when it comes to planning and distributions. They just changed something as vital as the launch date. If you read the email from Tim Cook's executive team, they state that they're still discussing the launch scenario.

in what way did they drop the ball with planning and distributions?

I think this could definitely be the case. I live in AZ and every preorder I have ever done with Apple has always shipped the day before and arrived via FedEx.

If you look at the UPS website (https://wwwapps.ups.com/ctc/request?loc=en_US) and use the From address as the nearest UPS warehouse to your address, and use the To address as wherever you are having the apple watch shipped. Then check out what it says for timing for UPS Next Day Air.

I did this for me (From: Harrisburg, PA TO: Upstate, NY) and it says it can be shipped as late as 6pm Thursday and still make it to my front door Friday AM!

I can't give up on the idea that I'm not getting my watch in two days!

For the initial launch they should have only sold watches with Sports Bands and let the people who wanted something different order it separately. Maybe ship all SS editions with the classic buckle to differentiate it.

That would have massively reduced the number of SKUs, simplified the logistics of getting them out to customers, and removed a lot of variability caused by band popularity and lead time.

You should work for Apple, good sir.

Whats the ETA?

The first (kind of loner, leader of the pack) arrives in Anchorage around 10:49 PT with the bulk of planes arriving around 1pm PT (a little before and a little after). At which point the shipments should be moved to both Memphis & Looey-vull for staging (unless they're being put on cargo containers / other hubs in country corners, for instance in Southern California / Arizona, they might go straight to Chico / Phoenix). It's a little more complicated stateside (hence the frustration and confusion over lack of confirmations for some vs others) but rest assured, they're coming in waves, when that wave reaches your shore? Only God (and Tim) knows.
