i would expect we would hear from australians first when the watches change status due to the time difference

Maybe not
if the parcel is ready to ship and of the 'allocation' for the country before the sell out, then i guess anyone could get it any time from anywhere in the world.

Don't know about that. I think it changes once the enter the sipping info over in China. It's a little after 9 Sunday morning there right now. I don't think time zones have an effect.

Most release dates for the iPhone in Canada have always been like this. Our orders here have always had a "delivery span" and I always got it on day one. I'm sure most will see it Friday. Apple will have them all sitting in warehouses in various locations and ship them from there.

Dear God! These guys are down to actually using math in order to calculate their shipping and delivery dates. Y=3x-2 Solving for x will tell you exactly the time of day (down to the second) your watch will be delivered. #

No. The reason the date was changed was because as of 1:00am PST on April 10th NO apple watch could be bought for release on April 24th. Apple did not want to confuse customers coming to the website for the first time to order.

Also, the 2 week delay between preorder and shipping is for manufacturing. They have 38 possible combinations and they have ZERO sales data on any of this. They needed some time to gauge the pre-orders. They knew what they could manufacture in 2 days, 5 days, 10 days, 14 days, etc.. hence the "shipping in 4-6 weeks" pre-orders, and "shipping in June" pre orders.

Well I hope ur right. But IMO, I think this launch has apple in mini chaos. I think it's an absolute fact that they are scrambling big time to get watches delivered on the 24th. I think some will make it (hopefully mine :) ) but not all. I think this launch is gonna get worse before it gets better. I'm really trying to be optimistic about the whole thing but it's really hard. I'm looking forward to next week seeing what the news brings and also shipping updates. One things for sure, MR is gonna be crazy!! Buckle up..it's gonna be a wild ride. Lol

Apple Watch Sport 42mm in Space Gray. 4/24-5/8 delivery window.

First time poster. Just wanted to say I absolutely love this thread. Been reading it since Thursday and I have learned a ton. You all seem like a great group. I love how excited we all are. Looking forward to the coming week. The excitement is palpable :)

My order confirmation email came at 2:05 CDT. Though according to my iPhone it was 2:03 when it finished on the Apple Store App. Got a delivery date in the first wave so I'm hopeful.

That said, I've had my first crappy Apple experience this week when the RAM in my 2014 iMac went bad and it's been at the Apple Store for 6 days now!

Hopefully my luck improves by Friday!

That's my store too. I went in on Thursday morning to pickup something for work and the watch table was completely empty. I was able to spend some quality time with the demo models. I'm in the 4/24 batch so I hope I get it on Friday.

Yeah, when I went in for a try on it wasn't that busy. It's a pretty low volume store though. I went to the store in Georgetown and it was pretty crowded.

I agree. Still sucks to type in the long iTunes password. Why not use TouchID?

In the same vein, why does iPhone require us to enter our passcode (to the phone) and password (to the App store/iTunes) after a reboot? My fingerprint is my fingerprint, goddamnit! This is so frustrating to me, not just because its annoying but also because its seemingly nonsensical.

I doubt that say they have been fully charged have actually been. More likely it was a temporary hold to make sure you had the funds for them to approve your preorder. Like the majority of online retailers Apple doesn't charge until they ship the product. It would be very unusual and unlikely for them to do otherwise.

This is what is bothersome to me. I don't have any pending charges on my card. How will they know that I have the proper funds (I do, for the record). Wondering if I actually won't get it on the 24th because of this…

Did you order Apple Care? I did and Apple used the Apple Care charge as a way to see if I have funds in my account.

[I used  Pay]

Your fingerprint is encrypted with the other data on your phone. When your phone is powered off, or restarted, your passcode is used to decrypt the data. This also provides an easy way for American's to keep data private, as a court can force you to unlock something with your finger, it can not force you to provide a password.

Because your phone doesn't keep the decryption key in memory through a restart. (dumbed down explanation) Your password + other unique information decrypts the phone. Your password gets hashed and stored in memory after the first time you type it, and your fingerprint authorizes the system to use that password after the first time you type it from each restart.
