What is your source that Apple has already produced 2 million watches? Who exactly at Apple expects everyone in the first wave to receive their watches on Friday? Some sales reps over the phone or chat? You do realize anyone that made those claims is totally speculating? The vast majority of those reps don't even work for Apple and are sub contracted not that it really makes a difference.
I know a higher level phone sales manager and he says they have been informed nothing except that the watches should arrive sometime in the 2 week window which is why they quoted it and haven't changed it. Makes sense right?
Some people will definitely get their watches on launch day but no one knows if everyone that ordered in the first wave will. You can make yourself believe everyone will but no one really knows at this point plain and simple. I hope we all do and those that are speculating end up being correct! If they are they didn't really know but guessed right.
I'm also sad to inform you Santa Clause isn't real
Maybe I'm just a gerk but hate to see some kids potentially heartbroken over all this.
There's always room for error.
However, here is the real problem...
Too many people are getting distressed that one, their order status hasn't changed and two, they don't think they are getting their watch even though they are in the first wave of orders.
Let me address #2...
People need to calm down and wait a day or two. Sometime between Monday-Wednesday (most likely Tuesday), you are going to get confirmation if your order status has changed. Until then, all the moaning about not getting a watch on launch day is senseless.
As for #1....
I don't know why Apple put a date range in their initial confirmation. However, 2 million plus watches is a lot of product. I believe, if I remember the numbers correctly, not even a million people ordered a watch here in the United States.
Maybe we should start debating all of this after Tuesday.
