Actually, you can buy it online or call the AppleCare directly.

I called Apple to add AppleCare to my watch but they cannot add it until you have possession of the watch. During that call, the AppleCare rep told me I could just buy it online after I've received the watch instead of calling back. I didn't ask how long after receiving the watch I'd be able to add AppleCare, but I imagine there is a window.

Thank you! Very helpful

Ok guys, it's Sunday and still NONE of us have had a shipping update or order status change at all! Apple is really pushing everybody's patience. I think the moment the Watches arrive on our doorsteps will be extremely climactic because of how long Apple is waiting to update us. I simply cannot believe that the first batch of Apple Watches hasn't shipped from China yet. Can you guys?

Happy order status refreshing!

Haha..u can rest assured that as soon as a shipping status changes there will be 10 threads about it within milliseconds.

Of course, but since this is the Mega Thread of the aforementioned delivery dates , it would be hella helpful if they post here since most if not all are chiming in on this one thread

I read a lot in this thread that the watches are already state site. I am not so sure about that. If they are that would mean they where shipped as a bulk prior, otherwise we would have tracking numbers by now. If it was bulk, then someone has to take that bulk apart, sort it, out print labels and packing slips and process it all. Given the differene in Chinese and U.S. Labor costs that's unlikely to happen here. Also if bulk stored here, how do they know how much of what they need. Apple always shipped straight from the factory. It's their global supply logistic strategy. I have a hard time believing that diffrent this time around. There are also tax and import duty reasons not to do bulk.
Just thinking out loud.

Actually, for the iPhone 6 & 6 Plus, many people on this forum got tracking once the phones were in the US. The phones came from distribution centers close to the recipients location. There is no reason to believe Apple won't do the same again.

Apple already has companies for this that handle stock already. Syncreon in the UK.

In the United States, they will use Ingram Micro (their major 3PL supplier) for the in-country stock shipments to US addresses. IM will need a few days to receive and breakdown/prep for the pick/pack/ship of 'singles'. I'd assume inventory is probably physically in the US by now, just not in any supply chain layer where it would show up in a carrier's system yet.

3PL industry executive here.

May not happen closer to May 8th if you're in this window...

If that's true then this would be a new procedure inconsistent with prior launches, where things came directly from China.

Joining you all on the ride.

Hey everyone, I'm gonna post some details about my order. When our orders do ship, at least we can gauge which models are shipping out.

I preordered the :apple:Watch Sport, 38mm Silver Aluminum with a delivery date of 4/24-5/8

I am of the belief that Apple has the stock, but is prolonging the shipping process because they will not be able to handle the millions of people flocking to Apple Stores for an appointment on how to use the device. I think most people with the 4/24 date will get their order on 4/24 and the ones with a later date will get theirs sooner but in waves.

Apple is a global power, and will surprise us each and every time they launch a product. Our orders will ship this week, this is something I hold onto, so let's enjoy the ride while we are here.

Here's looking to you :apple:
