Desmay Slight 5 Order Thread

I know a lot of you are on the fence and I always appreciate the advice and pictures I find on Macrumors, so I wanted to provide my initial thoughts of this case and some pictures. Hope this helps!

My Case History
First, let me say that I hate cases, but always use them because I'm afraid of breaking the iPhone during a drop. On my iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s, I used the Apple bumper (after an exhaustive search). I liked the extra grip and the ability for it to safeguard the phone during a minor fall (I dropped them several times without any damage). When I received the iPhone 5, I had already ordered the Case-Mate Barely There, but hated the feel of it and went in search of something new. I decided to get Applecare+ (for falls) and a thin case just for scratches and to let the shape and most of the phone's beauty show through.

Desmay Slight 5
After reading lots of reviews about the iPhone 4/4s version, I decided to try the Desmay slight. This case seemed like the perfect fit for me -- protection against scratches while retaining most of the look and feel of the phone. Unfortunately, this case just doesn't feel right (it's far too slippery, has sharp corners, and the back bows out). Plus, after only a couple of days, the back is all scratched up (I've been extra careful with this case) and there are stress marks on the back in the form of discoloration. Lastly, and more importantly, the case looks cheap (I know this is subjective, but it doesn't look nearly as nice as the 4/4s versions pictured on Macrumors). In fact, it doesn't even look like the website -- it has an odd tint to it and poor level of transparency. So, I'm taking it off and trying something else.

Thanks for the review, looks like I wasted my money. I also got a ebay one for 1.88, im sure the quality will be the same.
 
Anyone plan on returning theirs? Looks like its gonna be a pain since Desmay is based in HK... not to mention they're not even replying to customer concerns. I emailed them the day the case launched to cancel my order... no response except for my shipping notification!

Looks like we were bait and switched (ordered based off the success of the 4/4S version).

I emailed them asking about returns and got a reply a couple hours later. I expressed my concerns about the case in my email and asked what the procedure was if I returned the case unopened vs. opened and they told me that I shouldn't ~listen to forums~ because it's people trying to ruin their reputation.

…yeah okay sorry but 90% of the time I share opinions with people on here, and if people are saying the Slight 5 is crap compared to the Slight 4/4S then I'll probably agree.

I'm going to keep an eye out for a few more reviews, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to send my black Slight 5 back for a refund. It's too expensive to be this poor in quality.

That sucks for me too. I haven't received mine yet so I email them for return and refund. Too bad cause I had high hope. Oh well.
 
As a suggestion I got a rocketfish slim case with a frosted back and black bumper. Looks great, good protection, and light. They are at best buy.
 
After seeing the Power Support, I think the choice is obvious for me.

I'm going to Hong Kong this weekend on my way to Shanghai. Does anyone know if I could pick a Slight 5 locally?

Yes, I emailed them. No response.
 
I am currently using black matte from diztronic. I like it a lot except for their logo on the back. But for $12 shipped from Amazon I'm really happy with it.

Wow, kind of glad I got the "Black" one instead of the "Black Transparent" one i ordered. I'm sure those "stress marks" are there on the black one too, but you don't see it unless you have transparent.

I wouldn't use that case either. Now I'm interested in seeing what kind of quality the people buying the eBay cheap ones get. (I ordered one myself to compare, but don't know when it'll come.)

There is no black one, only black transparent.

Update: actually, I am wrong, I didn't see this black one when I first made purchase.

I didn't see it at the time I ordered either, but I did notice it last time I went to the site.

My assumption is that I got the wrong one and got an opaque one, because there's no way you can call the one I have "transparent"

Tell them and they will send you another one.
 
I'm still hopefully that these cases are good, but I paid for express shipping and haven't seen it a week later. Desmay so far has fell down on these cases....
 
I think express shipping was 6 days, and went out on the 29th...so those who haven't gotten them yet likely should within 24 hours or so

Desmay is pretty shady, they are deleting anything negative on their facebook page and deleting reviews of the case. They are blocking people too. Such a great company, they know their product is crap. Paypal dispute here i come.
 
From reading all the comments, i also decided not to order from them...prob just one of them cheap ones on ebay.... and waiting on the power supply cases. Those look awesome.

Also... decided to unlike them on fb.
 
I personally don't like the case but my dad does despite the flaws.
Like others have mentioned, the case comes with sharp edges and looks sort of incomplete. The back is scratched up already after a little use, and the corners bend inwards (hard to explain, but its ugly and looks like a dent). The case is also NOT transparent at all.

I suck at taking photos of detail, but here they are if anyone is interested. Taken with iPhone 4. The pictures are with normal use, and not cleaned.

Case doesn't look good compared to desmay.com, I say make Paypal dispute, it's not as advertised. This is why they are not posting real pictures.

That is horrible... Definitely not worth over $22.00.. in fact not even worth $5.
 
Heres 2 more of the top. Shows the ugly bezel and white plastic (strands? don't know what its called. The case wasn't pushed in fully on the right side.

And the screen protector sucks too and is UGLY. don't know how its possible to make an ugly screen protector but they pulled it off. Waiting for Power Support USA to release theirs.
