I find this statement funny. Apple fanboi's always try to separate the tablet experience from the desktop (or laptop).

Well, that would not be me. I don't have an iPad and probably won't get one at least for a year.

With the ability to connect a keyboard (and even a screen), I don't blame anyone for trying to use it as a portable computer to use in class, but I'd use a MacBook for work. The iPad supports QWERTY and volume/brightness/music controls, so I don't see what else you would need on the keyboard. It could use a mouse, though.

----------

I don't understand why Apple just doesn't give the iPad the same (good) camera as the latest iPhone at the time, complete with flash and all. Hell, maybe even a double flash since it's a bigger device.

I would want the flash just to use as a flashlight. I find it extremely useful on my iPhone because, unlike my 20 flashlights, the battery isn't dead every time I need light.

Apple is too slow. New iPad models are urgently needed.

No. They arent NEEDED they are WANTED.

----------

Sensor ID?

I hope not.

Or at least make it an option.

Get used to it. If you don't like it, start looking for a new company to follow. Apple are not going to release something like that as a one-off. Its going to be done across all their devices.

although I personally don't care for any non Apple tablet,MANY DO.and in case of iPad mini many will compare it to Google Nexus 7.the new version of Nexus 7 has the resolution of 1,920 by 1,200 pixels (323ppi).and is thinner than the last years model (which also had higher resolution than the i Mini)that's twice the pixel density of iPad Mini (162ppi).I don't really see why it could be an engineering problem for Apple to accommodate a high resolution screen in the iPad mini 2 when likes of Asus already done it.
again a Retina screen for iPad Mini 2 it's definitelly a must.

The retina iPad mini screen will have 36% more screen area than the new Nexus 7, which is a significant difference when it comes to LCD manufacturing and the energy needed to power it up. LCD screens are exponentially harder to manufacture as the size goes up.

The iPad mini casing is actually roughly equal in volume compared to the Nexus 7, but would have to support a screen that uses some 36% more energy.

Apple will have to produce millions of them to meet demand and keep shareholders happy while the Nexus 7 can be produced in lesser numbers and it won't matter since nobody expects it to sell more than the iPad.

Also, Apple has to maintain margins while Google can sell it just a little over cost, since it's used as a marketing tool to keep Android's mindshare up among tech bloggers and supporters.

A pity, they didn't show the girl with the lovely voice in the video.

Regarding the iPads, for me storage is paramount, next to screen resolution.
So, an iPad mini with at least 128 GB of memory and a retina screen would be most enticing. The other innards will progress in any case.

This is going to be a really lame upgrade.

  • Faster processor? Big deal, they do that every year anyway.
  • Super thin side bezels? Major downgrade. I guarantee you there will be issues with accidentally using the touch screen while holding.
  • Smaller form factor? Who cares, it's not smaller by enough to make it more portable, but it does mean that any previous iPad case won't fit.
  • Longer battery life? Who cares, nobody should be using their tablet all day anyway.

When are they going to add some real specs, like 41MP camera like Nokia has, or NFC like Samsung has, or multitasking, or 128 GB, or some function for the fingerprint sensor (which may not even be included) besides the super rare function of security from intruders?

So far there is literally zero reason for any logical person to be interested in this product. It's actually WORSE than the iPad 4. This is what happens when you trade a visionary like Steve Jobs for a beancounter like Tim Cook.

As if anyone actually thought what you typed wasn't a desperate troll, that last sentence should have probably convinced even you.

You're right, let's trade again and bring Steve back to the company. /FlawedLogic

  • Why would you need a 41MP camera on an iPad
  • Why would you need NFC on an iPad
  • iOS 7's multitasking is perfectly fine
  • The iPad already comes in 128GB
  • The fingerprint sensor literally just came out a week ago, give it time
I prefer the iPad 5 over the 4 because:
  • It will decrease in all dimensions
  • It will weigh less
  • The FaceTime camera will be improved
  • The rear camera will be improved
  • It will have a faster CPU
  • It will have a faster GPU
  • It has stereo speakers
  • It has a rear mic
  • It will probably have that M7 chip
  • It may have more RAM
  • It may have TouchID
  • It may have 802.11ac
  • It looks better, in my opinion
  • Buying it would clearly aggravate you, which would make me joyful

Thanks for my daily humor fix. Some people need to be put in their place, don't they?…..:D

Would love to see that as well.

But I doubt that Jesus Christ would have anything to say on this subject.

I might buy a new iPad - IF the TVGuide app didn't require me to sign on again every time it is updated. (And, yes, I know it is TVGuide, not Apple that has created that problem.)

I might buy a new iPad - IF the present model were misbehaving.

I might buy a new iPad - IF the storage could be upgraded with my own SD (SDHC or SDXC) card and by ME.

I might buy a new iPad - IF the new model had a USB port to download my phone's photos.

I don't really care, no-one really does, if it's 1 MP or 100MP.

All the matters is how nice the photo's are. they rest is just marketing really.

that said, the iPad should have a flash for time when there is not enough natural light

No 1MP photo is going to be a very nice photo.

And down >25% in the past year.

Statistics can say what you want them to say! ;)

Yeah, if you're going to point to stock price as an indicator of anything, the times have to be lined up. Example: BlackBerry's new phones are not wanted, as shown by the decline of BBRY since they were released.

Who are you to state how long someone should be using their tablet? 41mp photos on an iPad? You actually take pictures with your tablet???? Then wouldn't you want better battery?

NFC is still not widely used enough people complained they never picked up bluray, and everything is still fine.

You're just being a negative nancy. Nearly every point of your argument can easily be countered.

Really want a retina mini but if they dont retinize the mini i'm going to go ipad 5. My ipad2 is on its last legs thanks to twin toddlers discovering elmo lives in it.

Also would be cool to have a trade in program too but doubtful.

Looks like Space Grey is their new favourite colour. I wonder if they'll extend that to the MBP later this year. Maybe roll out the Mac Pro and MBP together at one event, both in Space Grey and Black. That would make a nice change. I'm really tired of silver. My MBP always looks dirty.

Too Much, iPad 2 Good Enough

Ok, in the last year I've experimented and purchased the 128 GB iPad 4 a couple of times and the iPad mini a couple of times because I really would like to replace my iPad 2, but after spending a few weeks with each device of 4 separate occasions, I just couldn't justify committing $900+ (iPad 128) or $700 for a Mini when my iPad 2 (64 GB, ATT) works perfectly fine.

Yeah the Retina was nice, but in direct comparison to the 2 I didn't think it was revolutionary. The new Camera definitely better than the 2, but the LTE was very disappointing and I didn't notice any difference between the new processing chips - and believe me I did direct comparisons because I desperately wanted to keep the new shiny... So I guess I'm done upgrading until I lose my iPad 2 or it breaks or I get a new iPhone (which I'm not).

You know that isn't going to happen. Seriously you should just buy another brand if those things are important to you. Alternatively you could just buy an external portable wireless SSD storage device and pair it with your iPad to give you some extra storage.

You might get further with your argument if you couched it with an "I feel that"

(and then come back and correct yourself on the odd times that you are wrong)

And then you just returned them after 2-3 weeks of using them? Sweet. Unethical, yeah probably.

Can we get a freaking flash for an iPad already Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ died for our sins. Tim Cook is the man you are looking for.

Can we get this ***** in inches please. some of us aren't math professors. Damn effing metric system.

My only gripe about the new iphone 5s and more than likely ipad 5 is that there is no more black slate and the sensor id has done away with the iconic home logo, the button now looks plain with a chrome metallic ring around it. Apart from that the form factor looks awesome, thank god they got rid of that massive bazel. The weight will definitely be a improvement, along with the A7 64bit processor, the rumoured 2gb of ram, and i could use the 128gb of storage with nearly 600gb of downloaded movies from itunes and and 176gb of TV Shows.

I don't get it. What's so bad about the fingerprint sensor if you're not forced to use it?

Nearly every point in my argument can be easily countered? What about the points that can't be easily countered? You're just going to pretend like they don't exist?
