i just think that they are going down the line fulfilling orders.

the first one was ordered at 8:15AM PT and the second one was ordered at 10:00PT.

The first order shipped, second order being processed without tracking number.
 
I'm so glad I didn't get conned into Direct Fulfillment. I told them I was going to the Apple store and they tried to tell me all of these ridiculous lies, about how it was pointless to go there because Apple doesn't have access to AT&Ts system so the phone would never be able to be activated on AT&T and it would cost me $599 since I was buying it without a contract.

After I called the 800 number on Saturday, I have been able to track my orders by using the home/work contact number and the AT&T store's zip. Though both phones are still backordered, I finally got the email that AT&T had received my order at 8:30 pm, only 31 hours after I had ordered the phones.
 
I ordered my phone at an AT&T shop in San Diego on Friday at about 7:45 PM. I just got my "shipped" email and tracking number.

Seconded. I ordered mine around 10am CST and I am still on back order. I ditched ATT once for screwing up a phone order I really hope I don't have another bad experience.

I just called. All she said was it's in progress. Asked when i ordered it. I said Friday. She said 3-5 business day from that day. Oh well. I have to just relax now and assume i won't have it til next week.

i can almost guarantee you that you will receive it by mid week.

The orders are being fulfilled as they come in so I wouldnt worry about it.

5-7 days is a scripted answer to give themselves some cushion.
 
I ordered my 8 GB on Friday at 6:00 PM CST. I received the email late last night saying they had the order. The status went from 0 backordered phone to 1 backordered phone this morning, back to 0 then back to 1 backordered phone. Bastards.

Never received any emails.....the guy didn't ask me for my email address when he ordered one for me (he just asked me for my contact number so he can call me when its in).....will it automatically be sent to the email address on file with the account??? (i'm currently an ATT subscriber)

The FRT and PHONE have always been and currently are QTY Backordered:1 and Status:In Progress for me....

Was offered the priority shipping but chose the free option instead-hopefully this didn't adversely effect me......

no Apple Store within at least 300 miles for me, so I'm SOL there.....

I KNEW I should have ordered the white one.......I was juggling between the 2 16 GB models in my head and obviously I made the wrong choice in this case.....

Another thread discusses 1 million iPhones sold this weekend. WOW!! I'm not surprised to have shipment delays. Just makes me wonder how crazed the workers are if are status's keep changing from backordered to not backordered.
 
Mine is still on Back-Order this morning, so I decided to call up AT&T at the 331 number. The lady was very helpful and sifted through 5 pages of orders that were taken at the store where I bought mine. She finally found mine and said it was still back-ordered and no tracking number. I asked when it might be shipped out and she wasn't quite sure, but said possibly later today or tomorrow.

Sitting, waiting, wishing...
 
I am starting to get real frustrated with this issue... It makes no sense to me, much like others have said, that it is possible that when they get a shipment, other people can just walk in and get one before I receive mine... The shipment should be coming from the same location as the orders... The first phones in the store should be ours!! We put in our time, we waited in line... Why can we get them first? I was originally told this WAS going to be the case, but then I called later and they told me there was no way of doing this because they had no list... Freaking morons! It's called ur computers for a list... I am getting increasingly frustrated as u can see with this scam... I just want to go in the store and scream at them... Though I know this wouldn't solve anything, it might make me feel a little better :rolleyes:

I talked with an AT&T rep. She couldn't really tell me much, but did say they had a lot of inventory. So, that's a good sign. So does back-ordered mean, just haven't gotten to putting a shipping label on yet?

I hope so. I leave for vacation Friday.

I ordered my two 8gb at 9am fri and mine are still on back order. Im tempted to demand a cancel of my order then just wait til the weekend to walk into a mac store and get two 16gb instead. I'm not offically an ATT customer and I already can't stand this business.

They won't let you cancel the order once it's been placed. If you haven't been charged yet you might have more luck with your credit card company canceling the charge.

At&t can't help for this wait. All they are doing is supplying you with a phone. Apple sold over a million iPhones already, it's unavoidable there would be a delay. I can almost ensure if you ordered yours on friday before 3, you will hear something by this week. Most likely tomorrow.

I think Apple is more to blame than AT&T. Apple could have put more handsets into the AT&T stores, but they didn't. That's the only really annoying part for me. Especially in areas like mine where there is no Apple store.
 
Just to add further stress I just went into the AT&T store and canceled my 8gig I'd DF'd on Friday morning and ordered a 16gig-black.

They had to cancel my order, they couldn't just swap phones so if they're a Q I went from the front to the back.

Let's see what happens now....
