Did your AT&T service activate right away on your 4S?

Everything is working on my new 4S, except the phone service. AT&T is saying that it can take up to six hours to process. I'm going on hour number 3.

also, on one of the attempts i entered in a bogus last four of my SSN and it didn't authenticate, so the servers are "listening"...

I got as far as, I think, the final step. Now my phone says:

"Your activation is still pending. You will receive an email notification once your activation is complete."

Upgrading from my 3GS, which still has a phone signal. I hope it doesn't take too long as I have things to do and I don't want to have to carry 2 phones for when the activation/swap happens.

I'm in the same boat. I was able to get my email set up, the iCloud, and synch all my apps/music. Now I'm just waiting on the phone part to work.

There is nothing wrong with the servers. They just can't handle all the activation requests and re-requests. I will just keep trying and add to the problem. They can't tell me no.

Mine activated after 2 hours 45 minutes of trying.

I don't even get an error. It just goes to no service after a bit and says something is invalid on iTunes.

That would be to easy. The statement that everyone is getting is contradictory. It states that you will receive an email later, but then it states that you can try again at another time? I'd go ahead and go with keep trying. It seems to be working for some people. And I took today off of work, so might as well. This is typical launch day woes. Just like with iOS 5 and every iPhone launch prior to this....

a simple "retry" or "try again" choice would have been nice after going through all the steps 6 times already.
