Based on your photo, your bank account could use a little more help. However, that's probably the best looking Alienware I've seen.

That's what I get for buying too many Apple devices. Gotta make up for it now! :p

Hoping these have something better than then Vega 20. Or least 6 or 8 gigs of ram on the GPU. Navi would be nice but I'll take anything that's at least a bump past the Vega 20.

I got a new 15" Alienware M15 R2 with a RTX 2070. It is thicker
"Dude you got a Dell" (TV commercial reference). Seriously though a high end gaming laptop has better cooling than a MacBook Pro? The next thing you're going to tell me is a Ford Explorer has more passenger and cargo room than a Porsche 911. ;)

Enough with this rumour! Waiting for my 2019 15" to arrive tomorrow. The renders on the 16" look so nice!

If it has ARM processors though I'd rather wait until they mature.

Its the more used interface even today! So your wired keyboard or mouse has a USB-C connection? Nope! Your 20 or so USB hard drives have hardwired USB-C Nope!

And don't drop the dongle bomb NO!

Real working Pro's don't want Dongles, Hubs or wacky cable solutions even today! And not likely for the next 10 of so years! I tried it and it was a mess!
[doublepost=1564405160][/doublepost]

Because its a needless dongle!

I am a REAL working PRO and I don't mind the dongles at all. So I must not be a REAL working PRO. What an asinine, ridiculous assertion.

Not to mention I doubt you are a professional photographer, because its 2020 an they don't really exist anymore. Sounds like you're just a hobbyist complaining.

I'm an engineer and photographer - USB-A is the dominant port with C&C equipment, chemical processing equipment, and even in the medical field as well. So the 100k MRI machine you just bought needs to be trashed to get one with USB-C sure... Nope!

In photography our tools in the field are portable USB-A drives and SD cards. So I need to trash all of that and my cameras which use SD cards... Nope! By the way what camera has USB-C built in? None!

And don't push the Dongles & Hubs there more trouble than having the needed port onboard. A working pro's system needs the ports onboard.

Yes! Its still faster than WiFi and its private! In some environments Bluetooth and WiFi are just not possible or allowed.

It's interesting that they plan to add this new 16" design alongside the already 13" and 15" MacBook Pro. I think it's a case of Apple wanting to bring the new design forward because of the issues with the keyboard and the bad press around them.

The strategy I think will be to bring the new 16" with new design forward, replace the 15" and 13" next year with the new design.

HA! USB-C is the connection, Thunderbolt is the dialog no one is suggesting giving it up!
USB-C is a port that defaults to the USB 3.x protocol. A protocol with 1/4 the throughput or less. Without specifying, you leave it the the reader to decide what you meant. This post very much sounds like you were talking about the USB protocol, and not thunderbolt.

They are not as big and bulky as before. In fact, it is not much bigger than my first Intel MacBook Pro. Might be smaller in some dimensions. The MBP has unnecessary compromises for thermals.

Which would be fine - some people want to have a thin machine that can run some slightly demanding workloads (though not sustained). The problem is there's a hole in Apple's lineup for folks like myself. If there was a Macbook PRO+ or something then I'd happily get that. Maybe the 16" one will fit that bill. I hope so.

When I started getting frustrated with my $3,200 MBP, I found no good options in Apple's lineup. This 15" AW can fit in the same bag as my MBP is not much heavier (though a bit thicker).

Saw an analysis on YouTube that this is simply not possible considering stated resolution and pixel size. The guy said it would have to be considerable larger body.. ~1nch

It will likely be both! Smaller bezels and an increase in the case size. The numbers imply a 16.5" display if Apple stays with its ratios they have stuck with.

While some have pushed the idea this is a replacement of the 15" models I'm not so sure!

Apple messed up not servicing the heavy pro's with the 2016 MacBook Pro intro. I have a suspicion Apple is addressing this market like they did with the new Mac Pro.

I want a MacBook Pro like the old MacBook Pros and MacBooks that had easily replaceable drives and were fairly sturdy.

The display on my 2013 rMBP is already very fragile. I had to pay to replace it out of warranty because it cracked internally (with no cracking of the glass or film or whatever is on the surface and with no dents to the aluminum). It was dropped but with a case on and not from a high height.

I've been tempted to go Lenovo but I still like Mac OS.

Even the reliable T-series laptops have been going towards soldered-down SSDs and RAM and battery, just look at this scathing criticism from Louis Rossman and here

Re-read what I stated IN ADDITION to the USB-C ports! Do you also not see we want MAGSAFE back via the USB-C port! We are embracing USB-C, just not giving up on what we need.
I’ve been hoping that Apple would add a MagSafe port with a USB-C size connection, while leaving the current USB-C ports as-is. Heck, put one on each side of the machine for versatility.

September event with redesigned MacBook Pro, new iPad Pro and launch of Photoshop for iPadOS. Boom!

Man the sticker price on these are going to be insane with 13” and 15” sticking around.

If this features the rumoured 10nm chip from Intel you can count me in... Give Navi too and I'll instantly buy it.

Seems like we back on track in the Mac world.

Same hoping for Navi....

If Apple really wants to delight its users, it will ship a scissor keyboard. Looks like it was Jony who was responsible for the tragic of butterfly keyboards

I could not get an intelligent response to this on the AppleInsider forum, so let me try here, as a long-time Apple supporter...

Most other laptop manufacturers price 13" and 15" laptops at practically the same price (yes, I know, Apple is superior to all the other laptop manufacturers, so comparisons are folly)...

Can anyone explain, other than Apple needing to make more $, why a consumer needs to pay an 85% markup to go from a 13" screen to 15", much less a 146% markup to go from 13" to 16". Even the XS and XS Max are only $100 apart, a 10% markup, so it's not like Apple couldn't put most of the internals of a $1299 13" into a 15" body and charge $1699.

ONE WHOLE INCH?!?!?!?!? Wow. Maybe they'll increase the resolution even further so that I can make everything on the screen look like gnats. And how much will this one cost...?

According to Digitimes, the new 16-inch MacBook Pro will cost some $3,200. That is indeed a lot of money, and Apple under Tim Cook does not stop increasing prices of every product.

For those who may remember, Apple introduced a 17-inch MacBook Pro back in April 2006 for USD 2,800. You may say that the 16-inch Pro Apple is releasing now is miles ahead the 17-inch released in the past. That is true, but there has been some 13 years in-between. And this 16-inch probably compares better to the 15-inch laptops Apple is releasing over the years.

Anyway, I cannot keep up with Apple's increasing prices. I live in Brazil, where the currency is increasingly devaluating (compared to the U.S. dollar) and the taxes over tech products are always increasing. Even if prices in USD were the same, prices in local currency would still be increasing for me, much above inflation. Now, with Apple raising prices in USD on top of that, well, that makes its products incredibly burdensome, to the point I will have to drop them all at some point.
