Many people find AirPods do not fit their ears or become uncomfortable to wear.
Many people - probably more than 50% - are not interest in music at all and don't want to stick anything into their ears. To them the value of AirPods or the value of anything you plug into your ears is zero.

One day sure. But not next fall.
Yeah. Earphones are going towards wireless more and more, and I think it’s only a matter of time. I actually think at some point there will be an iPhone with no ports at all. But 2020 is too early for several reasons, not least of which that Apple wouldn’t want to cut off the not-insignificant AirPod revenue stream.

While this rumor seems questionable for now, it is certainly possible that Apple simply feels it is time to include something more modern than EarPods with its iPhones.

Has the author forgotten how long Apple made a 16 GB iPhone?

People still confounded over why Apple didn’t bundle 18W charger bricks until recently? I thought it was obvious, given the complexity of an iphone battery exchange they want to replace as few batteries as possible. Fast charging brings higher risk for a battery to go bad within warranty plus a customer with a mediocre battery is less satisfied than one that has to “endure“ the 5W brick. Only reason they dared this year is likely due to the “optimized charging“ procedure that is enabled by default.

Regarding actual topic, yeah I could see them do it. Perhaps. It seems to have become a thing for other smartphone makers to bundle valuable stuff like wireless earbuds with their flagships so I guess Apple could feel pressure to not seem cheap by comparison. On the other hand, if any company could get away with bundling nothing it would probably be Apple.

Storage v.s. an accessory AirPod option bundled with the iPhone is not mutually exclusive. The misconception other members seem to have, is that this would be ‘free’, there’s no way Apple would bundle the entry level AirPods for free, one way or the other, the consumer _would_ be paying for it.

I don’t they’d bundle them in for free but maybe if you buy the bundle it’s only $100, saving you the extra $59 it would cost to buy separately.

If they do it'll be for the 'Pro' phones only. They didn't even include a fast charger with the standard 11... they ain't including fancy new products together for the 'base' models.

I do love AirPods though, but not a fan of the Pros. Price and form factor don't suit me.

Don't.. we will just see a lot of unwanted extra AirPods on eBay. Just like the Beats Solos during the Back to School sales.

Just resonably price the iPhone by themselves without AirPods, and give a vouture for a heavily discounted AirPods with every UUID of iPhone, and Mac purchased (not iPad, Apple Watch, etc. b/c they are secondary products, not "the product of entry"). This should not limit to just the AirPods. It can be for a selection of Apple audioware products including the HomePod and Beats Studio Wireless, etc.

Similar strategy can be used for Apple TV with the purchase of HomePod or Apple Watch.

This will only happen if A) they remove the lighting connector and only allow wireless charging and music listening, and B) price of the phone goes up $159.

Definitely bundle AirPods with the next iPhone 12. This would be a huge plus. Take the hit. Don't raise the iPhone price because you'll sell more iPhones with AirPods.

Apple already bundles AirPods with any iPhone for an additional $149.

Id rather they bundled more memory and battery life in the phones and let people chose for themselves what headphones they want.

It is actually possible. Apple now sells Air Pods Pro, which of course has taken a lot of sales from normal Air Pods. Manufacturing is probably cheaper now then when they first released. Say that the 2020 iPhone is mostly a face lift from the iPhone 11, for the same premium price, but with lower production costs, it makes totally sense to include classic Air Pods.

I think it needs to happen. Maybe you get to choose at purchase which ear phones you get with your iPhone. 3 options. 1) wire 2) airpods 3) pro airpods and priced at 1) base 2) base+$100 3) base + $150

This would be a game changer, but I just don't see it happening having followed this company for so many years. Samsung might. Apple doesn't need to.

I could see a $30-50 discount bundle happening.

No it doesn’t. Nobody would buy the pros. They will never be as cheap as the wired ones. Etc.

I hope not. It is stupid.
I want the new iphone, not another pair of airpods.
If i buy the iphone every year, i dont need a bunch of airpods!!!
It is a waste of resources, a waste of money, simply a waste!
apple wont do this. Please dont do this.

Which raises another question: Does DigiTimes even think about their predictions? Like, when they review supply chains and come up with an idea, do they take a step back and ask themselves if it even makes sense?
Oh they definitely think about it, as in, which made up click-bait headline will bring us the most readers to maximise our advertising revenue.
