Signed up for the ATV deal-- it's been about an hour an haven't gotten any sort of confirmation e-mail.

Anybody else?

I would be shocked if it was ever ATV3 compatible. Remember, adding a "channel" to the ATV3 is actually a full OS update.

You can, of course, AirPlay to your ATV3.

The 3rd Gen Apple TV was discontinued so I see no chance of this ever happening.

Just an FYI after speaking to a representative on chat.

Multiple streams: 2 max, don't have to be on the same network, presumably this includes mobile streams. In order to get more, have to sign up more than once, no way to buy "extra streams" like with Netflix.

Data usage: Unmetered on AT&T Internet (U-Verse & Mobile)

Recommended bandwidth per stream: 3 Mb/s recommended for HD (I'm guessing double for 2 streams). Channels are in HD.

DVR: No solid info for now. Can rewind within a channel (or watch past shows) up to 72 hours previous.

CC (Closed Captioning): Should work as expected.

I'm glad they figured out if it wasn't going to use data on U-verse. I called today to ask and the lady told me it shouldn't matter if it used data or not since streaming doesn't use much data in the first place. I had to hang up on her.

EDIT to say: does VOD on these streaming services still include commercials? if that's the case, then DVR is the only way to go. My wife and I never watch our shows live so they are always on the DVR ready for us to watch... and we can skip commercials too.

I started streaming the movie Wolverine, I believe it was from FXX. I skipped ahead a few scenes and did get commercials. It might depend on the channel and show.

Thanks, I'll try signing up via safari / iOS

Try clearing your browsers cache, it seems like maybe you got some link stuck in your browser possibly before the service went live in your area since it is a DTV direct link. My bet clearing the cache will remove it and you'll get a fresh page pull.

HBO Now is not live. It's on demand. Is DirectvNow HBO ONLY live?
HBO is live on DTV Now. You are able to log in with your DTV Now info on HBO Go. But it looks like you can also use on demand for HBO programming.

The live channels are HBO East/West and Family.

Looks like it doesn't support Roku if you were curious.

Roku is working on a new OS. I think that might be the reason why ATT is not supporting Roku at launch.

that's what I assume. And I wonder if it's like watching a show on a network's app. For instance, if you watch an On Demand show from a major network (CBS, ABC, etc.) on their app, i think you get commercials but not as many (IIRC). which is still annoying, but better than all of them.

I personally find it more annoying because they show the same one a gazillion times and the volume is always twice as loud as the show :(

I signed up about five hours ago and I got a confirmation e-mail almost immediately saying this:

Welcome to DIRECTV NOW! Your order is a wrap, and everything you need to know is below.
Go Big : $105.00 Total Tax: $0.00
Next Recurring Charge: Mar 07, 2017

Now that you’ve prepaid, your included Apple TV is on its way and should be in your hands within the next 2-3 weeks. You’ll get an email update once it’s officially out the door to be delivered to:

The more things change, the more they stay the same.--Alphonse Karr

As expected, there’s no benefit to viewers other than the ability to stream to mobile devices. Otherwise, it’s the same business model as traditional cable tv… the few channels you want bundled with half-ass networks that have only one noteworthy program each. Don’t have kids in your household? Too bad. You still have to pay for a half dozen kid channels. Don’t follow politics? Too bad. There’s three C-SPAN channels anyway. Ask yourself… are the few channels you will watch, worth $35+ a month? And that price… it’s very temporary. Content providers raise their costs yearly. In turn, AT&T will raise their price.

Fyi, I have been testing it for the past hour in Safari and consistently it is dumping the video and giving a silverlight error. I looked at the requirements of silverlight and it doesn't support safari 10+, so until then, Chrome may be the best way to view on a laptop/desktop.
