OK, it looks like I cannot watch Giants baseball on Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area, so I will be cancelling my service. That was the main reason I signed up. I can watch the channel but the game is blacked out?

What about the NBCSN app? Starting this season I can watch the Phillies via the app. But don't blame you if you don't want to continue service if you can't watch the Giants on there.

Yeah, this is pretty cool. I was actually thinking of adding it, now I don't have to!

Same- I was going to add it but now I don't have to. How or when do we start getting access to them?

I received an email & I think it begins immediately. (I didn't do the 3 month trial)

Yeah, I was thinking of the terms for people that already have HBO. Sorry about that. It's probably still rolling out I'd imagine.

There's a FAQ regarding the HBO promo.

Considering HBO is normally a $15-20 service, not too shabby.

Full speed ahead on the TW acquisition.

Confused. I got the emailed offer. I had already added the HBO bolt-on for $5. If I keep the DTVN service, do I need to remove the HBO to get if free? Or do you think they will just give me a credit ?

Existing HBO bolt on subscribers get the credit at the end of their current prepay period.

With the HBO credit , Anyone know if you switch plans anytime during the duration of your 1 free year from one of the more expensive plans to one of the cheaper plans how that affects the HBO promotion ?

It was a good move by At&t/DirectvNow to do this free HBO offering for a year, as the first 3 months were rough. However, I think there is more to this than just loyalty. I think over the next 6-12 months there are going to be vast new offerings and packages from new entrants i.e. Apple, Hulu, and Google/Youtube TV. Loyalty will be out the window with no contracts, introductory pricing will help keep some but not all. UI/Interface/DVR and content will be drivers, all while who has the scale to keep the monthly costs the lowest.

Exciting times to see media business' having to innovate now to stay relevant. I enjoy the DirectvNow service for now, but I am looking down the road to more entrants and how truly untapped this TV area is currently. DirectvNow really does need to release their DVR option asap! My guess is that will come as more competitors enter or Sling and Vue expand their DVR features.

I still haven't decided, but if I leave the main reason will be the lack of DVR.

I'm pretty sure it should not affect the HBO promo. So you should keep it regardless of if you switch to a cheaper plan.

but I wonder if it'll change from the 1 year to the 6 month promo. The two bigger plans got the 12 months free while the two smaller ones got a 6 month credit. I wonder if the promos will switch if you change between those plans.

Yeah it is absolutely ridiculous. Time Warner/Spectrum has NO competition around here so I am screwed, I have to keep their internet. I am going to get in TWC/Spectrums retention department and see if they can do anything, doubtful.

:apple:
Same with me. Charter seems to have bought / bribed town officials to allow their monopoly, hence the $180 money bill

Does the new update have DVR? I'm basically holding out until they have that feature since my family relies on it.
