That is if you win the display lottery. In night shift, mine is yellow on top (like it should be in night shift) and pink on the bottom. Significant uniformity issue.

I would pay extra if they gave me a display similar to the one they sent to Display Mate to test out!
Best comment!!!

Another worthless display review. Just look at the dang screen and make up your own mind. Some people have already returned their XS phones due to yellow tint and inherent PMW screen flicker. For those people, the screen scores a F-. For others, the screen looks great and they're fortunate enough not to get eyestrain & headaches from the strobing screen. For those people, the screen scores an A.

My advice: Don't pay any attention to any of these "reviews". Go to a store & play with the thing yourself & make up your own mind. (and don't pre order next time around).

The “best” display ever says who? Personally it’s nice but it’s duller than an AMOLED and has poor viewing angles before the screen turns blue. It’s not as sharp as Samsung’s Super AMOLED either and the razer phones 1440p 120hz panel is smoother also has better colors better viewing angles and is sharper. There are much better panels on the market the IPhone Xs Max is maybe the 3rd beat panel on a phone . I would have preferred the iPad pros retina motion plus screen instead TBH.

Oh okay, DisplayMate, MacRumors, stop everything. This guy is having an issue so that means everyone must be having that issue and it means DisplayMate lied!

Don't be obtuse. Does DisplayMate buy their own hardware off the street or do they get review samples? If so, they are hand-picked by Apple so of course they don't see the issues.

Do you not remember the iPad 3? Most of its screens were terrible with yellow tint and pink and green corners.

Wait, Apple gave a specific phone to displaymate to test?

Why should anyone trust your opinion of displaymate or someone else? All these things are subjective, just like camera reviews.

Apple is just crushing the competition.

Clearly, they can make Samsung and LG displays better for iPhones than Samsung and LG can make for their own phones.

That's what demanding very tight tolerances and good software will do for you.

iPhone XS Max has the best smartphone display ever, according to display testing and calibration firm DisplayMate Technologies.

iphonexsdesign-1.jpg

iPhone XS Max has a number of notable improvements over the original iPhone X, including higher peak brightness and better color accuracy, and matches or sets smartphone display records in a number of areas, according to Dr. Raymond M. Soneira, President of DisplayMate Technologies.

For example, DisplayMate says the iPhone XS Max has a peak full-screen brightness of up to 660 nits for the sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts, which improves screen visibility in high ambient lighting conditions. By comparison, the iPhone X achieved a peak full-screen brightness of 634 nits in its year-ago tests.

DisplayMate measured the iPhone XS Max's screen reflectance to be 4.7 percent, close to the lowest that it has ever measured for a smartphone. As a result of this high brightness and low reflectance, the iPhone XS Max has one of the best contrast ratings in high ambient light on any smartphone it has ever tested.

DisplayMate provides an extensive overview of the iPhone XS Max display, concluding that it is a "very impressive top tier smartphone display."Of note, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max use the same display technologies.

DisplayMate's iPhone XS Max OLED Display Technology Shoot-Out article is a worthwhile read for anyone looking for comprehensive analysis and testing of the iPhone XS Max display. DisplayMate has been a provider of display calibration software for consumers and technicians since 1991.

Where is your data to prove your "3rd best" assessment?

"Better colors" and "better viewing" angles is based on your personal experience or data? DisplayMate uses data that is measurable.

It's not even as good as the 8 Plus

Lol, no offense- but that comment is absolutely rooted in ignorance!

It’s as silly as claiming that any camera w/ a higher megapixel count MUST be better than one w/ a lower megapixel count... no matter what; or that any processor w/ a higher clock speed MUST be better than one w/ a lower clock speed... no matter what.

This antiquated way of thinking is like 20 years outdated by now & the fact that there are people that still think like this is astounding to me!

You are clearly basing your bold assumptive claim on a single spec (resolution).
I do not believe for a second that you’ve even seen this unreleased phone in person; much less performed a scientific side by side analysis vs an 8 Plus- thus you are definitively unqualified to purport your completely unfounded opinion as fact.

My screen isn’t yellow you must be colorblind then or have nightshift or True Tone turned on

I haven't seen that with iPhone Xs, but for iPhone X, the hue of my phone was completely different to that of my wife's. So, please don't be so dismissive unless you have seen his screen.

He can at least provide us proof rather than a rant. I have a iPhone Xs Max I also have 3 other iPhone Xs Max with no screen issue there bright and not yellow unless I have night shift on or True Tone in which I turn off

Here you go, almost all Display Model in Apple store exhibit same issue.

Even after turning on night mode on X, the XS Max is still warmer than my old X....

The screen is just garbage with shift tint as well. Seeing the screen at different angle, the yellow piss is gone. It's very likely not the OLED color calibration issue, but the issue with polarization.

Simple solution in two easy steps. 1. Return it and stop complaining all over the forums about it. 2. Buy a different phone.

Just don’t tell them the reason you return it because they will mock you. Talking from experience.
