i will get the regular 13" MBP once rMBP released; hope Apple drop 13" MBP price to $899 ...

add 830 256GB SSD and 16GB RAM plus external monitor, i am good for another three years ...

You should make that -$80. The Legacy MBP comes with a built-in Ethernet port, a FireWire 800 port, and a built-in Optical drive.

Sure, that makes sense. Not sure it's $120 delta, but whatever, it's close enough.

But if they follow a similar path with the 13", what we're really talking about is a retina MBA with the addition of a discrete GPU (they can't seriously think they're going to drive that with HD4000....can they?) and a very small price premium over the current MBA.

If this article pans out it look like that in 2013 the MacBook Family will comprise of 4 machines:

11"Retina MacBook Air
13" Retina MacBook Air
13" Retina Macbook Pro
15" Retina MacBook Pro

With all 4 only haviing SSD only and all with no optical drive and Ethernet.

Personally, I'm ok with that since I own the Retina 15" Macbook Pro. But I've read a lot of people prefer the legacy stuff still and find having the choice of Classic and Retina a good thing.

What's gonna happen when that choice is eliminated next year?

Dongles and adapters. They're already available. The only "choice" being lost is not having to use them which, to hear some people around here, is akin to walking on broken glass.

How will they put everything in a smaller space?

I wonder how much more power the retina LCD draws. I could see Apple not releasing a retina 13-inch MacBook Air in the near term due to battery life concerns. If the 13" rMBP has the same form factor as the 15" model, the extra volume at the forward edge would allow for a larger battery pack than you could put in an Air.

I wonder if they'll make the current MBPs just "MacBook" and have the retina ones be the only "MacBook Pro" line. I don't like how there are two different types of MacBook Pros.

I hope it has a dedicated graphics..

I tested the 15 inch retina for a week. The integrated graphics would give u headache while scrolling as it is so slow and sluggish, everything drags especially on Facebook. When integrated was off for better performance, using the dedicated graphics was much better but not as fast as my last yr 13 inch mbp... so unfortunate.

Does anybody know if the current Graphics card in the retina MBP the most powerful one?

exact reason why i now hate apple. (is mountain lion any better than SL? ahem. anyone? :p)

Yeah, keep dreaming!

i can find the current generation 13" MBP on regular sale on Frys for $999; i am just asking $100 more to go down ... :D

we know and apple knows retina MBP coming ...

even some time you can find the 13" MBA on $999 on frys - that if you have a store near to you ...

Gonna try to hold out for a Haswell model, but may be forced to buy one if my current laptop goes kaput.

Weight, width?

Really hoping for a Retina 13" Air soon :(

Well, the question is how much of a weight/width penalty you get.

I'm a happy Macbook Air user. Saw 15inch Macbook Pro and felt it was too heavy for my needs, though pretty thin.

Think I'd be happy with a 13inch rMBP as long as it was say 3.5 or lower. 4lbs, dunno, maybe. Above that, probably no.

How much the price? Hope a budget conscious like me can afford to buy it. I can't question the quality.
