Arghhh. Who names a computer:eek:

Wait I dont own a computer any more. I have MacBook now. Why didnt I think of naming this s##y beast? Anyways I m thinknig of giving her a cool(n s###) name right now. What should it be.................

Ok guys. I hereby name my lovely MB as "YANA".
A really hot n s#xy(atleast IMO) model/actress from Russia working in Indian Cinema.

Sh#t. What`ve I done? I was thinking of selling this MB once MeromMBP are launched. Now it might get really hard to get this baby away from me. : (

Just got my shiny, new white MacBook 2.0 this week, and (for now) I've named it Serenity. Of course it's named after the ship in Firefly/Serenity, but also because it's very calming to have a new Mac after the scare my old iBook's HD gave me a couple of weeks ago... :)

The internal HD in Serenity is called storage. Plain and simple.

My Apple ][+ was "Howie";
][GS was "Beagle" because it had numerous coffee and chocolate stains / also from Beagle Bros...
The Bondi-Blue iMac was "Funkmaster" (it was sitting on a tall stand called iMan).
The iBooks and eMac did not get any names, but my new MB is "Blackbox".
All iPods (Gen 1 / Gen 2 / Gen 3 / mini) except the shuffle and nano is "C4".

My MacBook is named Bernard because I got the black one. (There's a joke in there, but it's been largely missed by my friends.)

My current home network is free of a naming scheme, mostly because I wasn't the one who set it up. The network is named after my apartment number, the Mac mini that serves as a media server is just 'miniserver', and I can't remember the name of the Linux box of many kernel recompiles. (I just refer to it as 'that bloody thing'.) We did recently add an iMac G4 that someone was throwing out, and that got named Oscar.

My three work computers have never given into an interesting naming scheme, so they're currently named nadyne-pb (my PowerBook), nadyne-mini (my Mac mini), and nadyne-svc (my Windows box, sitting headless and out-of-sight in the back corner, accessed only via RDC).

She made her own marshmallows! What normal person in their right mind makes their own marshmallows!!!? She cannot be trusted! I bet they were good though.

(Heh, nice addition of the white text.)

Yes, they are good. I make my own marshmallows every once in awhile. Find a good recipe for them, and add some ground chocolate (I especially like Ghiradelli ground chocolate) when you're mixing everything together. It's quite yummy.

... but I'm not claiming to be either normal or in my right mind, either. ;)

OMG!! Where have I been?!? I won an award for naming inatimate objects!!

Now that I've cooled done a bit, , I shall introduce my various named electronics.

Little Jimmy (Mac mini core solo)
Louis (2GB black iPod nano)
Vinchenzo-Vinny (really old, but super pretty cell)
Montgumery-Monty (Canon PowerShot)
Guido (Toshiba M30 Satalite)

Those are the ones all my friends and people I work with know. I've also named every other computer, printer, phone, telivision...most tables and chiars..some lightbulbs-I recall naming a wasp Bob once. He bit me.

I name them! I haven't decided what I wanna name my Macbook Pro though. Which should be in tomorrow morning. Its in Memphis right now. dslfkjsklfjsd!

But!

My 30gb Video iPod is named Dolores, from "Lolita" (her full name), but there's no good reason for that. Just the phrase "Dolores on the dotted line" seemed to fit how shiney and pretty this thing is.

And then my 20gb iPod is Mnemosyne (the goddess of memory). Cause as soon as the new computers in, she's gonna go into retirement as an mp3 player.

Oh! And my dyin Dell is named Tomato. After Edward's computer from Cowboy Bebop.

haha you make me wanna name my canon powershot and cellphone..

All my Mac names seem to fit the Macs. The older ones usually are named after Titans, while the newer ones after other gods or mythical characters. Here are names and my rationale for naming them what I did.

Mac Mini - Selene (color, as well as it not always being visible - kind of a stretch)
Pb G3 - Hyperion (they're related!)

Beige G3 - Kronos (at 33lbs, makes sense)
departed B&W G3 - Thetis (sea colors, and whatnot)
Pb Titanium - Galatea ('cause of all the work I did to make it better - painting it, upgrading)
G4 Cube (dead right now) - Aphrodite (self explanatory)

I name all of my computers, mac or pc. Previous PC names include TheBeast and NSFrankenstein. My current mac names are PB & J for my PowerBook and #3 for my MacBook. They each have personal meaning... :)

Here are mine:

  • Original Mac mini = "Xenophobic" because it was my first Mac in a house full of Windows machines
  • Intel Mac mini = "Idyllic" because it's in my bedroom ;)
  • MacBook Pro = "Kinetic" because it moves around (it's a laptop!)
Other machine/device names I have are Hypnotic (5G iPod), Microscopic (iPod nano), Logic (Exchange Server), Synthetic (main Windows PC), Atomic (old Sony notebook), Photogenic (Roku PhotoBridge), Euphoric (Sony LocationFree TV base station), Totemic (PSP), and Baryonic and Pyrophoric (Xbox 360s).

haha...this reminds me of my old PC days....

My first laptop had its HD named HAL 9001......I found this very very scary.

My Second laptop had the same thing....ok I made it that way :)

Naturally both acted just like hal, they ran windows :D

I named my HP's hard drive first as the control for a cruise ship bridge, later for my cameras.

Didn't custom name my MBP
