To all you people complaining that ANYONE is ripping Apple off, try asking someone that works at Best Buy how much they pay for accessories. The cost to make vs. the actual price will surprise you.


Regardless if it's a 3rd party case or not, Apple isn't going to be shuffling out full price cases or bumpers to ANYONE. They didn't pay anywhere CLOSE to what we would of had to. What may seems like a couple million bills to you is couch change to a company like Apple.

Sorry to disappoint but mark ups are a fact of life in every product. Sometimes a very high one. If you don't want to pay it then don't buy it. Nobody owes you a fair price. Buy yourself a Kin, they are almost free for the taking.

Trust me, you won't. If you paid for a bumper you will get a refund. If you also ordered a bumper or case with the case app, that will either be cancelled or you will be charged for it.

Got two bumpers which I paid cash for and got refunded. No email ever given, email, etc.. How can they cross reference that? Not possible unless they collect video footage at the stores and cross reference it with the picture on my contact card in mobileme acct.

Not saying I think it's right or wrong, just giving facts.

Also lets say if you paid by CC in store. Same scenario. You don't have to give and email and even if you do. Some people like me have A LOT of different email addresses. My AT&T, iTunes ID and email I give in stores (typically get their spam) are all different. I also use a different card depending on the type of purchase.

Unless all variables are the same it's no possible way for them to track.

I can only think of one scenario where they could possibly track but I'm not gonna say anything.

It's pretty sad that some of the people here are actually proud of knowingly defrauding Apple. It's one thing to get refund(s) for one or more bumper(s) without asking for the refund, but it's morally wrong to request a free case AFTER receiving the refund. Yes, I read that in the terms of the case program - people who bought more than one bumper are better customers, even if the other "worse" customers bought more Mac books and iMacs.

I got the email to order a free case 6 hours BEFORE the email for my refund. I got the order confirmation for the case before, too. I never asked for a refund on the bumper. Obviously Apple isn't overly worried about people getting a case and a refund. If they were they would have made the bumper refund a manual process and tied it to an Apple ID. They also wouldn't have just refunded every bumper sold, including people who purchased multiple bumpers for one iPhone. If I bought two bumpers and got refunded for both, isn't that the same as buying one bumper and getting one free case?

They only offered A case per phone. So if you already got a refund, you're not entitled to get another free case. Just because Apple doesn't have a good system in place to prevent this doesn't mean its okay to do it. Your arguement is like saying its okay to steal something from a store that doesn't have any security measures like video camera.

Anyone who decided to pay out of their own money to buy a bumper gets a refund, as a goodwill gesture, they were willing to pay out of their own money for something that really the phone needs to properly work.

Then as a media spin and a way of keeping iPhone 4's selling, they offer everyone who owns an iPhone 4 a free case.

Exactly, no one is "scamming the system" (even when some people think they are So so so smart that they think they are, and others think that their morals standard are above anyone else) that is not the case, the system is in place to give everyone with a iphone4 a case, and to refund all previous purchases of bumpers; at any point it was said that everyones get one.... some people (like myself) got 3 bumpers (3 colors) for my single iphone and I got refunded for all 3.

Yes I am getting both. I bought my bumper with my cash and my iPhone with my credit card. I had them print me a receipt when I bought my bumper and got my refund yesterday. How could they possibly cross reference it? I gave them no name or email when I bought my bumper...

Yes I believe I will. Today I got 2 emails. One of them confirmed my bumper refund and the other confirmed my free case order with an august 27th ship date and sept 1st delivery date.

On a different note, its surprising they removed the colored bumpers and glad I got my white one few weeks ago.
