Interesting to say the least. I accept our difference in opinion but do you accept your own differences of opinions?

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Let me help you some. Taking quotes out of context is a method unscrupulous or uninformed people use to spread misinformation. I didn't note anything in your cut/paste exercise that relates to this discussion other then I feel the bumper is over priced and I would like the refund Apple offered. No question in my mind it is overpriced. How does that relate to taking a second one you are not entitled to?

In my e-mail inbox, along with many other users. Quit making assumptions that we are all immoral and evil people, when you don't even know the facts. It's just a damn case.

I didn't assume anything. IF you bought a case and got a refund you are golden. IF you got the refund and IF you still ordered a free case you are taking advantage of Apples good will. Shame on you. If you are not doing that then welcome to civilization.

What do you really know about me? I'm not getting a free ride from anybody (except my university of choice to which I am eternally grateful), and I've never had so much as a parking ticket but I do know right from wrong and you are completely wrong to make judgments on consumers' relationships with corporations.

My guess is that you will order a second case once you realize everyone else is because if there is any "large minority" in this situation it's you.

And yes, I chose a case that Apple bought for me through a third party manufacturer. If they choose to ship me that case, then I guess everyone is satisfied except you.

I know nothing more about you then you type in this forum. If you type in "I am taking my refund and getting a free case too", then you have proven my point. If not then you too are welcomed to civilization.

No parking tickets and free school? I'm glad you can feed a meter reliably. I'm guessing you are majoring in business since you seem to think you have a handle on consumers relationships with corporations. I hope it all works out and you teach any children you may eventually have the difference between right and wrong. I would also recommend telling them about the rewards of hard work and respecting others work and property.

I have no intention of getting a second case from Apple as I already have one and since I only have one iP4, don't need another. When the one I have wears out or is broken I will BUY another.

It's fine if Apple doesn't want to give me a refund & a free case as well, but it's not YOUR place to decide that for Apple. My free case order went through, & I was refunded, but if Apple says I can only choose one, that's completely fine with me. How in hell is it YOUR place to judge my purchases and/or morals?

Oh, wait. It's not.

gehrbox, now you're going to lecture me about my future family life and assume what my major is?

I'm going to do you a favor, take me two free cases from apple, and go on with my very fulfilling moral and ethical life.

You crossed the line into being a troll.

Or were you one from the start?

Goodnight.

So even though they told me I could receive another case on top of my refunded bumper, somehow I'm taking advantage? I give this company thousands of dollars every year, and there is no way in hell that I feel guilty about this, or as if I'm doing something wrong. You think you're so high and mighty behind your screen, like you have the right to put down everyone else. I really wonder what you're like in the real world. What you are doing hear is trolling; accusing others of being "evil" just because your beliefs are different. You really need a reality check.

I could go into all the philosophy of why this is an issue for me, but I won't. I'll just say that it has to do with values and ethics, which I feel are important.

I do understand about the emails. But what I'm saying, is that they made a mistake, and error. The right hand isn't aware of what the left hand is doing.

I can understand there may be honest confusion as to their intent, but the evidence points to the fact that they intend only one case per phone. And knowing this, our response as customers, and citizens, should be to help them correct their mistake, not take advantage of it.

I find those that preach and prosleytize the most rarely live up to the standards they set for others.

Wasn't Larry Craig a "noble" crusader against gay rights until his...ummm...unfortunate incident????

Never said I was deciding anything for Apple. Read the subject of this thread. You are free to do anything you want. I questioned the ethics of people that felt it was ok to get a refund for something they bought and get an additional item for free when this was clearly not what SJ said at the press conference.

I'm not judging purchases. I'm judging non-purchases.

I'm sorry if you misunderstood my post. Since you mentioned free school and appropriate relations between customers and businesses I guessed that you must have some advanced knowledge about the topic, hence maybe you are a business major. It's nothing to be ashamed of. If you are not then where did you gain this vast wealth of knowledge on the subject?

Why the sensitivity to good parenting advice? What part of that advice to you think was incorrect to be taught by a parent?

Steve Jobs was pretty clear during the press conference. If you already had one it would be refunded. If you didn't have one Apple would give one to you free. Check it out, it's available free at Apple.com for your viewing pleasure.

If you got a single email stating that you can have both please paste the text here for all to see. What you got where two separate emails. Clearly Apple is sending both emails to everyone just to make sure they don't miss anyone because some bought the bumper with cash and not tracked in their system. It was not their intent per Mr Jobs press conference to give away two cases to everyone.

You equate evil to unethical? I see a very clear distinction.

It seems that all but a select few of the posters on this thread fail to grasp a most basic concept, that it is wrong to take something that doesn't belong to you.

Rationalize all you want, but Apple does not intend to give away any more than one free case per phone. If you get two refunds, or are allowed to order a case after getting a refund, then it's a mistake that they've made.

The same kind of mistake as if someone drops a wad of cash on the street and you pick it up. Is it yours? No. Is it your responsibility to find the owner? Yes.

And that money is not yours until you've made a reasonable effort to locate the owner.

Have you made a reasonable effort to be honest today?

If this were true then they wouldn't refund multiple bumper purchases, I've seen people on here brag about buying numerous bumpers and getting refunds on all of them. It seems they've refunded all except for cash purchases without receipt.

Also if this were true, I think Apple would have the smarts to make people register their iPhone serial number so as to keep track and limit buyers to ONE bumper refund OR a new bumper/case, but the current system isn't set up that way.

I never said I received one e-mail. I clearly said that I received one about my refunded bumper, and another telling me I could get another case. This debacle has turned into such **** show, that Apple is doing anything they can to please customers. No, it wasn't their "intent" at first. Was it their intent to refund all seven of one MacRumors user's bumpers? What should she have done? Bought back the extra six? What I'm saying is, Apple doesn't give a hell about a customer getting more than one case, as shown with several users being in the same situation as myself, receiving multiple refunds, and free cases, and therefore, it's not your business to berate everyone.

The thing is, this is not a big deal. And you are equating a damn piece of rubber to ethics, when it doesn't affect your life at all. You don't know me. You don't know how I live my life. Your ethics aren't the same as mine. What I think is morally acceptable, you obviously don't. Get over it. I would bet a large amount of money that the moral standard you want to be perceived of having on the internet is nothing NEAR your real life.

There is no use arguing with these people who just try to justify their actions. Their constant need to justify their actions suggest they themselves feel uneasy about what they did. Thou dost protest too much.

For those that received the email, sure it does say you're eligible, but then again the section right underneath it says "Already bought an iPhone 4 Bumper" and details how to receive the refund for the bumper already purchased instead of requesting the free bumper. I got two emails for the free bumper, but that doesn't mean that I'm eligible for two.

You are correct about one thing. This is no big deal. But if that is true, why are you being so defensive? Maybe deep down you also feel it's wrong?

It's the same justification people use to jailbreak their iPhones and rob Apple/AT&T of their potential revenues.

Are you kidding me? You can't reason with stupid people. I'm over this. Let me know when you get off that high horse of yours.

Your right about the stupid people thing. I give up. You know what they say "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink". Thanks for the assistance.

Now why do you assume I ride a horse? Beyond that what makes you think I would ride a horse that uses drugs?

I find that when people live their lives according to little sayings and cliches, then that means they can't complex issues.

My position is stated with logic and sound reasoning behind it. You will choose to ignore it and do whatever you're going to do, I don't care. But you don't even make an attempt to understand it and that's your loss.

I have no idea why Apple is allowing this. But just because it's being allowed, doesn't mean that their original intent of the program was to provide multiple cases or bumpers. What would be the purpose of that? If they wanted everyone to have two, they would have said that everyone gets two.

The language of the program terms and conditions is clear - you get a free bumper or case. And if you already got one, you get a refund.

Why is this so hard to understand?

Don't have a cc on my iTunes Id so I'm good. Apple def could have done this better tho. Like an online refunded that they tag your device after you get it

The program description also clearly states:
If you are experiencing reception issues with your iPhone 4, you are eligible to receive an iPhone 4 Bumper or other select third-party case from Apple at no charge.

The intent of the program was to give bumper cases to those who were experiencing reception issues, not EVERYBODY who bought an iPhone 4. Clearly you should also be going after the people who are stealing from Apple by making claims to a bumper when they have no reception issue.

Pipe down whiny ass. I've never had or complained about reception problems, yet my bumper got refunded without me asking. Then I get another email offering a free case? You bet your sweet ass I'm gonna request it. If Apple gave a flying **** they would have done something with a more complex authentication to stop all us "cheaters".

p.s. I'm PROUD to say I took advantage of what Apple had to offer me.

+1
If they had got the antenna issue right from day one then none of this would have been necessary.

If you need a bumper to make the phone work in the first place, then the product by itself it flawed

Hey if you want to get even with Apple for selling you a defective phone, why don't you walk into an Apple store, grab an iPad and attempt to walkout the door with it? If a clerk tries to stop you I'm sure he would understand if you tell them it is compensation for your iPhone4's poor antenna design.

You know what's funny, you cant even defend your argument, or address any of the points I've made. You don't understand where anyone else is coming from, and instead try to make yourself seem like a Saint. I'll be enjoying my two "stolen" cases while you continue to put down everyone else :)

You two should stop arguing over something so pointless. Does JohnnyQuest "gaming" the system affect you in anyway gehrbox? If not then you shouldn't try to impose your values upon him. It's like those Westboro Church members who believe soldiers should die because America is tolerating homosexuality too much...

Welcome back! Whats on the agenda today? Oh... defense of my argument.

If you would turn back to page 1 of the discussion and start there I think you will see I've covered it in detail. Others have also contributed to the writing as well, but in general the facts remain the same.

Please feel free to submit NEW points if you would like them to be discussed. I will be glad to address them, but I have to say that the temptation to use the horse metaphor (again) in an unflattering manner is tempting due to the lack of fresh points of discussion.

I agree it is pointless. Can't say I agree with likening a radical church group to taking advantage of a company offering you something free OR a refund. If Johnny games the system that's between the system and him. If he chooses to discuss it in a public forum then he will face challenges to his morality and ethics.

Nobody is telling him what to do, we are just discussing the topic covered in the subject line of this thread. It's not a big deal to me.
