Trust me, you won't. If you paid for a bumper you will get a refund. If you also ordered a bumper or case with the case app, that will either be cancelled or you will be charged for it.

Do you really think that Apple can't cross-reference these things to determine what you're actually entitled to? And SHAME on those who are bragging about how they are getting more than one, as if Apple wants them to have it.

Nuff said.

I did- I went to the store on Sat, brought my receipt for my purchase on 7/5 for cash and got a complete refund. Prior to going to the store I downloaded the App and ordered the Incase Snap Case.

Wow, I did not know this was such a big deal till I saw this huge thread. I had bought two bumper cases prior to this whole ordeal in black on launch day and then again a week or so later when I came across a blue one. Got an email the other day saying that Apple recently stated that all people who purchased a bumper were eligible for a refund for the bumper purchase. I thought cool. Then I checked on the status of both purchases and realized, hey Apple refunded both of my purchases. Wow, that was nice. But it must be a mistake, right? So i actually read the fine print, and you know what, that is about it. If you purchased a bumper, you are eligible for a refund. Period. It does not say one refund per person/household/phone. It just says, if you bought a bumper, you get a refund. Wow! That is pretty wild.

Now, about the free case deal, that I don't really know how that will work out at all. Maybe Apple will cancel a bunch of orders and maybe they won't. I really don't know. Although again, if you read the terms and conditions of the free case program, there is nothing in there that says you get either o refund of prior purchase/ or a free case. In fact, just the opposite. It basically reads as if you bought an iphone4 you can get a free case. Next paragraph then states if you bought a bumper, you will automatically get a refund. Again, no either/or here.

I think Apple just doesn't care that people will be getting more than one free case, so neither should we. It costs them nothing. (However, I'm not in the multiple free case boat cause I never bought one.)

They refunded my credit card, and I have a confirmation number for the one I ordered. Shipping September 1st.

If I were to go further on track with the view of those who see this as morally wrong, I would have to come to the conclusion that anyone who accepts a free case from Apple who does not have a reception issue is in fact stealing from the corporation because the free case program is inherently designed to appease those who experience difficulties with the acknowledged antenna issue.

Except that Apple explicitly said that everyone gets a free case. This was the extent of their goodwill gesture.

There is a distinction between morals and ethics. I don't know about the others on "my side" of this debate, but I'm not making a moral judgement against anyone. It's just difficult to see how anyone could look at this program in its entirety and conclude that at its heart, Apple is intending for anyone to have more than one free case.

Even if they knowingly implemented the system sans checks and balances. That does not mean that we are ethically justified to take what the system allows.

It's not a legal issue. It becomes a moral issue if it infringes on the rights of others, and to what degree. In this case, others may be inconvenienced somewhat having to wait longer for their cases, and the money that Apple loses is not significant, so yeah, in that sense it's not a big deal.

But ethically, it's wrong. By itself it may not mean much, it's just the cumulative effects that these little decisions have upon ourselves and society, is damaging.

One iPhone. One Bumper. Symmetry. Balance.

Except that Apple explicitly said that everyone gets a free case. This was the extent of their goodwill gesture.

Under the application description in very clear writing:

If you are experiencing reception issues with your iPhone 4, you are eligible to receive an iPhone 4 Bumper or other select third-party case from Apple at no charge.

It is a very clear prerequisite to getting a free bumper. Anybody who is taking advantage of Apple's goodwill gesture to provide customers who are experiencing the problem while not experiencing the problem themselves are engaging in an ethically questionable act.

By claiming that the extent of Apple's goodwill gesture extends to those without the problem as it is allowed is no different from those who claim that Apple's goodwill gesture also extends to more than one case because it was allowed and/or refunded to them.

I'm very surprised you even have the audacity to go around calling people out for their ethically questionable behavior over cases when you willingly jailbreak your iPhone and rob Apple/AT&T of their potential revenues.

Is it showing on your statement for your card? I was notified via email I'll be getting refunded - I haven't seen anything on my card yet.

I'm inconvenienced by this thread.

It's just millions of pieces of plastic. Just make sure you recycle the cases when you're done with them and I promise you'll go to heaven.

Great job everyone. Adieu. Enjoy your case or cases and more importantly, enjoy your iPhones and your lives. Thanks for the life lessons...or whatever.

Hahaha this thread was classic!

I received a refund for my white bumper and I ordered a black bumper, coming on Sept. 1

I loved all the "moral" and "ethical" people hahahaha, what a piece of work these people are. Arguing on a forum whether a person should order a piece of plastic that is given to them free anyways. I particularly loved the guy who said apple made a mistake...what?!?

Anyways it seems to me like some have their panties all bunched up over a piece of plastic. The world is too serious

I can almost guarantee you the OP is just a really good troll.

I didnt even want a refund, nor did I get a confirmation of my refund for the first one I purchased and ordered a new one via the app. My refund came through today as did my confirmation of despatch.

Oh well.

Nah, not that good. This is the first thread I've ever started that went past a couple pages. But now that I know what gets everyone all fired up, I'll remember that for next time.

Booya and all that!

What if you ordered a case from the app and then got a replacement iPhone and then did another case from the app?

hey OP!

just dropping back in to let you know that the funds made it to my account today for my refunded bumper, and my free griffin case is still set for august. man I'm so proud..

Hah! I second this. :)

My refund has just gone through into my bank :)

and my free bumper from the case app is still on order. ;)

OP = Fail! :rolleyes:

Even after he admits he was trolling he is still trolling people. Now that is a sign of a good troll.

I received my first of TWO free bumpers today. Right after covering the Apple presser for work, I immediately jumped on to order a white bumper. Days later, they zeroed out the total for my order as a convenience. Fast forward to late last week when the free bumper ordering began...I then ordered a new black bumper which is prepared for shipment.

I FEEL SO POWERFUL TO HAVE GOTTEN A NICKEL'S WORTH OF APPLE PRODUCT!!! :D

I ordered one weeks ago, paid, obviously, and received it, then got my refund this past weekend. My wife also has an Iphone 4, but no bumper because, as we all know, they stopped selling them. Friday, like everyone else, I tried to get a free bumper for her from my Iphone. The order went through but I got no confirmation email. So I had her download the app and try on her Iphone, and she got an order through, and shortly after that, because we share the same Itunes account, I got a confirmation email. I assumed that meant the one I ordered earlier wasn't going through. Surprise surprise, hours later I got ANOTHER confirmation email, and today I got an email that both have shipped to arrive August 2. Guess we'll have a back up in case one gets messed up.

The money I paid for my bumper finally refunded to my account today.

My speck fitted case ships Aug 27th for Sept 1st delivery.

So - how many people in this thread or in general who are getting a free bumper also complained about people posting about their issues and who argued that there WAS an issue.

Just curious to see how many hypocrites are "taking advantage" of the situation after being so hostile towards those that had/have genuine issues with reception.

I could replicate the bar drop issue with my iPhone, but I hardly considered it a problem as I never dropped a call. I purchased a bumper because that's how I originally intended to protect my device, as it offers some protection but lacks the bulk of an actual case. Apple offered me a free case, and refunded my bumper without asking me for a choice on the matter.

As for being "hostile towards those that have genuine issues," I'm of the opinion that this hostility is in response to the numerous repeated negative threads that have been cropping up everyday in these forums. ANY forum that has to suffer endless repeated threads on the same topic will generate hostility in enthusiasts interested in novel topics and discussion. Hell, in most forums I've visited, posting a repeated thread without performing a simple search will get you chewed out.

I don't have issue with anyone getting a free case since Apple is offering them to its customers as "compensation".

I think it doesn't sit well with me that people are not only accepting the offer but profiteering off of the offer who ALSO deemed those that had a genuine issue as whiners and complainers.

I'm sorry if other people don't agree with me. And I doubt any of those so vocal and argumentative would even admit that they were a hypocrite. I just "wonder" how many there are and if they realize that they ARE, indeed, hypocrites. :)
