Does anyone have an iPhone 5s that doesn't rattle?

It's good to know that there are non-rattling iPhones 5S out there. I was planning to order my first one tomorrow, but am still very hesitant. Maybe it is wiser to wait a couple of months.

The only way you will notice it is if you shake it and who shakes their iPhone? It's a non issue. Buy the phone now.

I returned mine direct to apple due to the baby-rattle and gyro issues shortly after the UK release :p

Call me old-fashioned if you wish, but for me, if I'm paying over £700 up-front for a phone I expect it to be perfect.

Like my iPhone 4! :D ;)

I don't understand those who keep saying that there is an issue with the rattling power button, but you don't hear it because you never shake your iPhone that hard to make it rattling. Well, let me decide, please, how I am using my device and under what circumstances I record my videos. If I pay €900 ($1.225) for a new iPhone, I want it to be perfect without any loose parts! Just as the iPhone3GS and 4S I had.

For anyone that says that the iPhone does not rattle for them, or for anyone that thinks that is a power button issue, or either a vibrator motor issue; perform this test.

Go to settings->sounds->[random sound setting]->Vibration->create new...

Now while holding the iPhone, vertically, tight and if you wish also depressing the power button or holding it tight in place with a finger, make the iPhone vibrate. While it does, start rotating the iPhone to an horizontal position parallel to the ground, screen facing up.

I don't know if anyone will notice a rattling noise difference from the vertical to the horizontal position. If you do, like it does to me, I would guess it's not the vibration nor the power button. Happens to a friend of mine too. It becomes quite clear too when the phone vibrates while sitting on a desk.

Not overly crazy about this but noticed from minute 1 and for sure some video recording will get hit. Very happy with the phone in just every other aspect.

I can honestly say I switched mine out for a faulty battery, then another for crashing. I've had 3 Space, and all have rattled. My daughters rattles. I realize people want perfection, but this issue is better than a chip, or scratch.

I would much rather have an iphone that has a scratch or chip (not on screen ofc) than the rattle that actually affects audio recording

I would also like to have an iPhone that does not rattle. Yesterday, I filled in the feedback form on Apple's website: you guys might also consider doing it. (so that they know how widespread this problem is)

http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

But to be honest, I don't think Apple is going to fix it meaning that I will just wait for the iPhone 6 (which will undoubtedly be introduced in a nice package with other issues, as usual)

I returned my iPhone 5S yesterday via my carrier who were really polite and understood that something was wrong (You ROCK Tele2!). Before I called Apple Store Sweden and explain the problem a bunch of times, and those teenageboys (I'm guessing they all are between 18-19) had very LITTLE knowledge, asked me stupid questions, clamied that they "never heard about it before", claming that they haven't got through they education from Apple (lol), and so on. So I didn't trust them at ALL.

So Tele2 took the matter of their hands and would help me. They said they think this can be fixed very easy and IF they don't fix it, I'll get my money back or get a another phone. Just like that. THAT'S a REAL service, Apple! Time for You to grow up and hire mature staff who CAN help custemers.

And yes, of course I will report it here how it went. Will get it back after 1-2 weeks.

We have (2) 64GB iPhone 5s close to 4 weeks now, I'll "test" them like stated here and feedback....
So far with my casual usage, not noticed it.

I took mine to the apple store today to see if the rattle is an issue. I kinda knew from reading around that it's caused by the camera but my rattle is a lot louder than my friends. The guy convinced me that it is just the camera lens smashing around and not to worry. He did add a note to my account so that if the rattle continues to worsen after warranty it will still be covered.

He even got a refurb unit and his own personal 5s out and demonstrated their rattles to help convince me.

Today I was at the Apple store and like a crazy I checked all the 5s exposed: none of them had a loose power button, and they are touched by hundreds of people every day ....
I did it because I was curious to know if something changed from my iPhone 5 (power button is as tight as it can be) in the new design: well they are identical.

Mine rattles. I've always endeavoured not to be 'that guy', but I paid a lot of money for this device and it's a real annoyance when moving it around/taking video. I will be taking it back for a replacement.

wow. I think apple has fixed it now

So, what is the consensus, guys? Does the majority of iPhone 5S's have the rattling power button or is only a limited number of devices affected?

I have checked somebody's iPhone 5 and the power button is as solid as it can be: no rattle, no movement. I can assume that its successor must be the same or even better.

Hopefully, only some iPhone 5S's are affected (or Apple has already fixed the issue). In this case, I might just go on and order one - if it is bad, it will go back to Apple.

Don't really know how wide spread the issue is but the week 39 and 42 5s 64GB S/G I had both had the power button rattle. My third unit is due this week so will update when it arrives.

In my local Apple Store some demo 5S units didn't rattle but some did. Of the 8 units I tried 4 rattled.

Hope it's fixed going forward for those that find it an issue.

Thanks for your reply! Let's just wait and see then. Hopefully, your new iPhone 5S will not have this annoying rattle. Keep us posted. ;)

Damn, I just check this out by recording and shaking my phone and can confirm I also have this issue :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Model: iPhone 5S 32GB Space Grey,
Production Week: 42 (October)
Factory: F2 (China, Zhengzhou - Foxconn)

Now that I've noticed it, it's starting to annoy me and it's bugging me, even though I don't think I will be in a situation where I am recording videos with a lot of 'shake'. I wish I never clicked on this thread now! :p

Has anyone had any success returning their iPhones for a replacement? How easy was it to get a replacement issued?

Thanks
