I had to smile to myself when I read your comment as it was exactly my thought.
Over the past few years when the iPhone was beaten by this companies score, we saw the majority of posters rubbishing this company and it's tests/results.

I was/am keep to see if this opinion here now changes that Apple have got to the top in the category again ;)

I would love to believe people stick to their guns, and don't flip/flop their opinion simply based upon current results.

Thats why I take most comments with a grain of salt. It's not so much studying the data and coming to an educated conclusion as it is sticking with brand loyalty.

Who’s we?
Quite ironic you question @HacKage all inclusive "we" when you try to do the exact same thing to me.

So because Phil Schiller tweeted this out anyone who thinks these scores aren’t relevant are now hypocrites or something?
No. Read what I wrote. @BvizioN stated DXO wasn't and isn't relevant. I stated Schiller disagreed with him. Not anyone, him. Nothing to do with being hypocritical either. Don't "we" my comment.:p:D

After taking a few pics on my nephews XR I thought it took a really good pic. It was super clear and sharp.
Imvho it's all semantics, you almost can't go wrong with any cell phone camera anymore.
Argue away

Lol, all the iPhones should be on top of the list. It’s only showing that the Chinese brands are becoming better equipped for half the prices.

If I was Saint Cook, I would definitely rethink my strategy instead of a price bump.

I'm sure the XR has a fantastic camera, but I don't put a lot of stock in DxOMark ratings. They ranked their own garbage camera add-on similarly to a Canon EOS 1D Mk.III, and will work with companies to game their own reviews for money (and I say game because by all other accounts, the cameras they've had input on have been meh).

I fully expect to see them post an article along the lines of "Our single camera king has been already been dethroned" in a couple of weeks when they release their Pixel 3 review.

Well since it uses the same camera as the Xs's it should get a similar score. Probably only top dog for single camera till the Pixel 3's are tested though (funny they haven't been already...maybe Google was holding them back waiting for their night mode to be released into production before doing it).
I'm sure the Pixel 3 was tested weeks ago. DxOMark intentionally staggers all of these test results and their releases so that they can better generate steady revenue streams throughout the year. In a sense their tests and arbitrary scoring is all rigged because they already know that every flagship phone release will beat the previous by a slim margin even though the differences are too subtle for users to observe. Maybe consumers will one day understand that the smartphone camera war ended a long time ago.

Trap for those XS / XS Max fence sitters not willing to spend yet contemplating XR, without dual cameras. Great minds game by Apple.

Can someone tells me why everybody forget to mention the XS when they test the APN ? It's the same as the XS max no ? So why don't mention it in the graphic ?

Wow 101 points. Thats beats the D850's 100 points, guess I'll have to sell it and move to the iPhone for photography.

Erm, isn't this a whole other beast, as in, Mobile camera's are in a different class than DSLR's so 100 points don't compare.

Maybe consumers will one day understand that the smartphone camera war ended a long time ago.

The average consumer is stupid.....

Only because they haven’t tested the Pixel 3 yet. ;)
They are still negotiating about the price for a favorable review with google....
And this XR review is their first bargaining chip ...

My wife has a Pixel 2 and it blows away my XS in anything other than bright conditions.

My criticisms of DXOMark come down to this. It is ridiculous to condense camera quality down to a single score. Their tests are fine and appreciated, but to weight them differently (some of which are subjective) to somehow come up with one score, is where things fall apart.

My Xr takes better pictures than my Pixel 2 does in some circumstances. My Pixel 2 does better in some others and brings out light in a scene in a way that’s very engaging. None of my phones of 2018 has an Achilles heel that I feel the need to carry more than one of them now for a camera advantage. I just do that because I like to.

The major flagships and even many budget models have really fantastic cameras these days in a wide range of challenging circumstances.

The XR is such a misunderstood product... reminds me of iPhone SE in that sense.

I guess I like these types :D
Its actually only misunderstood because loads of sensationalist bloggers and youtubers , for clicks of course, bashed the XR before it was released complaining about the screen. Even though the color quality of Apples LCDs blows away many OLED android phones. Its about quality, not quantity. But logic doesn't get clicks and video views. The Xr is the phone to buy for at least 80 percent of people coming from a 2-4 yer old iPhone.

Every phone DxOMark tests has the 'Best Camera We've Tested'.

They're just click-whores like every other website nowadays.
